Nitpicks:

-went through all the taunts and all the new ones are boring as heck. Richter says "prepare yourself" which is what two fighters already say. Daisy went from most hyped character to "eh" because of her lack of taunts

-changing rules is such a hassle now, why not just create a memory system of last settings used? Smash 4 had it but it conviently forgot to keep stock matches as default. Seriously i have no idea why smash is always trying to push timed matches

-stage hazard switch is so tone deaf. Just give us a boss switch. No one ever cared about a moving platform, but we all hate the yellow guy who takes up 1/3 of the stage with the best music.

-why do i have to repick my skin every time I fight? Save preferences under user! Also having to repick my character every match is annoying

It took me a couple tries, and I was about to resort to seeing if Franklin Badge worked if I didn't clear it on literally the try that I did. So that might be something else useful, but I have no clue if it actually works.

Hm, thanks. I just got the Franklin Badge spirit and was planning to use it on the Metal Gear REX fight. I still have no idea how to do the Dr. Wily fight. That dungeon area is just the worst.

Wily Fight was super frustrating for me until I decided to abandon Marth and use my own Mega Man + Franklin Badge cheese. I think you have to be literally a god to do that one without Franklin Badge honestly.

Rex was easy for me. After thirty tries i just used the giant spirit and stood in the corner spamming mii sword fighter's wind tornado. Took them out in seconds.

Don't think the Franklin Badge works on Sheriff, at least not well. Definitely just use assist killer, maybe item grav to have a better chance of grabbing the Galaga items.

Dr. Wily is one of the few I haven't been able to beat yet =/

So how many people here are actually playing on a wired connection? I set mine up, but it feels like it doesn't really matter since 95% of the player base is wireless anyway, so random online matches are doomed to suffer from harsh input delay no matter what i do

I am, and yeah, random online matches are going to be bad no matter what. I think it's either matches against people you know or nothing, until/unless a patch comes.

Getting a spirit with Metal Killer e.g. Viridi makes Dr Wily much easier. You can also get it through the skill tree although it's a long way in.

The amount of online players that have an adapter unfortunately is probably sub 5 percent. And that is probably a generous number.

Especially since you cant play wired in handheld.

Also even local wireless play between two switches a foot from each other does not result in a stable match.

Oh wow, I managed 9-Volt & 18-Volt without too much trouble. It took a number of tries to even land a blow on the sheriff, but the first time I did manage to knock it out (Incineroar actually landed the killing blow on it somehow?), I proceeded to win. I did get a little lucky that Incineroar somehow got under the stage and couldn't recover.

I skipped 9-Volt & 18-Volt on my first visit because it seemed totally impossible; coming back later with assist killer and more powerful spirits in general did wonders.

I think I only need to beat The Boss and the rest of part 2 now.

Somehow I beat The Boss on my first try. Footstooled her almost immediately.

Some initial thoughts on characters

Roy seems really good. Fast, powerful, good edge guarding, decent range. I played against my friend while he used Roy almost exclusively and it was pretty damn obnoxious.

I really want to like Simon/Richter because they feel so good while you're on the stage. But then you get knocked off and your recovery is garbage so you die.

K Rool is pretty sweet. That super armor belly definitely makes a huge difference, and his recovery is great. Not sure how to handle things after losing the crown though.

Ridley seems pretty bad. His down B does 60% damage if it sweet spots but doesn't launch, and he just seems so slow and easy to punish.

Link's remote bombs make him so much more satisfying to play. They're great.

I feel like Isabelle has potential, but I wasn't able to do much with her.

Use whip to recover most times. It works a lot better. I've finally gotten myself used to doing just that.

Ness and Lucas trivialize it since the Mega Men love using their lemons. Just use PSI Magnet to heal up and you can't lose.

Ok I went back with the Poison Immunity spirit and The Boss is still idiotically tough

There was one attempt where I actually had the KO conventionally but she used her final smash as a recovery, which is super frustrating
