Board 8 > games you paid full price for when it wasn't worth it

i originally had "got burned on" but realized my situations were not quite that severe since they're more like i didn't really play it at the time and not like i absolutely hated them.

anyway i don't buy many games at full price but i have three that comes to mind.

Mass Effect Andromeda - i really should have seen this one coming. i knew Persona was coming out soon. i knew how I felt about open world games. feel like this is one time where if i did pay attention to all the news beforehand i would have known to skip out on it at release. and i heard they did some fixing to the model or something AFTER i already made my character. played through the first world and not since then.

Pokken Tournament - don't have a Wii U but got this on a whim to play at a friend's house. nobody else got into it so played it once and never again.

Twilight Princess - before I figured out I didn't care about Zelda games but was just inundated with gaming news and thought I did. got to the second dungeon. to be fair, my memory card getting corrupted had a lot to do with never playing this again but i still feel like i wouldn't have played it even if that didn't happen.

Final Fantasy XII - didn't end up liking any of it

SMT Strange Journey - I think I beat the first two bosses and just didn't care for it

I bought that Berserk musou game digitally earlier this year. So that was a full 60 bucks wasted since I only played a couple hours. It was during my phase of playing Pirate and Zelda warriors so I thought I'd like it but turns out I only liked the other two because I love One Piece and Zelda. Never got into Berserk unfortunately.

I also bought Nioh and haven't played that much, but I don't regret that purchase since I'm sure I'll get around to playing it eventually.

Oh and Andromeda, but that was a gift. And I did get some enjoyment out of it for like a week or two so that's nice.

I only buy 3-4 full priced games a year, and only games that I'm certain I'll enjoy, so I can't recall the last time this happened to me. I did regret getting NHL 18 in September, but I only paid $20 out of pocket after taking advantage of double trade credit on some old games.

My biggest regrettable purchase of the last 5 years was probably Lightning Returns for $40, and obviously there were probably numerous games that fall under this category from when I was a kid, but that was my parents buying them for me.

I don't buy games at full price very often, usually only for a series where I adored the previous game. That has led to a few letdowns.

Saints Row: The Third - big letdown compared to 2, was worth $40 at most, not $60
Pokmon Moon - S&M were the biggest turds Game Freak has yet released, with handholding taken to extreme levels and zero requirement of brain cell use
Dissidia - I got bored with this quickly.

Just the first few to come to mind.

Well, this might not count because it wasn't "full price" but one time I walked into EB Games during High School and they just released a new game called "Capcom Fighting Evolution" and it was just 30 bucks!

I sorta had money but it wasn't for that but I made the choice to buy it because this was during that 8ish year drought where Capcom wasn't doing anything with fighting games unless it was a rerelease

So I was really excited!

and yea, it was awful and I instantly regretted it.

King of Fighters XII

After they released KOFXI, SNK Could do no wrong. That game was SO good, fast paced, action packed, so many characters and a few modes to mess with. AND it was 20 bucks ON RELEASE

so when KOFXII was annouced WITH ALL NEW HD SPRITES, my boner was throbbing with hype. But when I bought it, was just a demo. no modes, few characters, slow and dull gameplay. it was the god damn worst. And online was GOD AWFUL.
I tried making the best of it, I was in fucking denial. I fucking got like, S rank online trying to pretend it was a good game. no. it wasn't.

It was so bad that I didn't even bother with XIII. I hear its alot better but the damage was done.

and finally, a more recent one, Tekken 7. Gameplay is great, but everything else that we've come to expect to from Tekken was not there. I made a whole topic about it. Its just so half assed.

not as bad as SCV, but it definitely reminds you of it

this one doesn't hurt as much because this is when gamestop did that really stupid amazing trade in deal where you traded in like 6 games and you got like 70% extra. I traded in Tekken 7 with other games and got 55 bucks for it, essentially getting my money back. I would say the game is probably worth like 20 bucks though, I'll get it again when its that low

but yea, I only buy games brand new if its a series I know or something. so these are the only 3 I can think of right now
