Just a weird thought exercise that I thought up. No matter how good your team may be, they're not going to win the division every year, but it stands to reason that a lot of fans would feel "at least <insert team here> didn't win." I suspect that for certain teams, the answers will be fairly predictable. Also, while I put team in the singular in the topic title, feel free to answer the question for multiple sports--and of course, identify which team it is you're supporting.

I'll start. My favorite teams are the Boston Red Sox and the Philadelphia Eagles. For baseball, this is an easy decision--Toronto Blue Jays, no question. They're a division rival, but there's absolutely no animosity, whereas the other three teams in the division...let's put it this way, all three of them have probably done a stint as "most hated", which seems inconceivable given that the rivalry between my team and one of them is literally considered one of the greatest rivalries in all of professional sports. But the Yankees, yes they're a hated rival but at least I can respect them, which is more than I could say about the late '00s Rays (in spite of their manager at the time, who I consider one of the great managers in baseball) or the Showalter Orioles.

For the Eagles, it's a bit dicier. The obvious answer is the Washington Redskins. Because that's what the answer is "supposed" to be, right? Except, again, there's that little matter of "respect", and frankly when I take emotion out of it I find the 'Skins to be the most vile of the three. I'd still rather they win than the Cowboys, because they're the Cowboys, but...I can't get up the animosity for the Giants that a Philadelphia fan is "supposed to" have. They're a classy organization, and besides, it always feels to me as if they always cooperate with whatever's the most beneficial for the Eagles--lose to them when the Eagles are fighting for a playoff spot, and beat them when the Eagles have no playoff hopes anyway and want a higher draft position. So I guess the answer there is actually the New York Giants.

As for my other vague rooting interests, the recent realignment of the NHL means I'm not even completely sure which teams are in the same division as the Devils anymore, and Rutgers is new enough to their current conference that I still probably have more animosity towards Louisville than towards any of their current division rivals (except maybe Ohio State but that's because I already hated them). I guess I could still answer for the latter, because I actually have positive feelings towards Penn State and to a lesser extent Michigan compared to being completely neutral towards Maryland, Indiana, and Michigan State and negative towards Ohio State, but the situations aren't comparable and besides Rutgers was more of a default pick as the only FBS team in the state of New Jersey than anything I felt strongly about. (Actually, "New Jersey" is pretty much the only thing tying me to the Devils, too, and the reason why I don't even have an NBA rooting interest anymore.)

Seattle fan since birth as I was born in Tacoma and had a die hard fan of Seattle teams in my mother. Not so much a fan of Soccer, never had NHL and hated Basketball even before the Sonics were bought from us... So...

Knowing them mostly as NFC West, well, I live in Arizona and worked parking at the stadium, being closer to the rivals of your team only makes you hate them that much more, leaving Rams... no matter how much we hate them too for the bullshit that goes on in their stadium.

Mariners... I... don't know. Rangers bought A-Rod, Angels are the major rivals, Mariners were originally the favorites and had a good chance during the year Moneyball happened, and then got screwed over by it... Astros came in and were a joke, but now are leading the division... I... guess Astros?

Oh, and of course I have NCAA. My school was ASU so they're my major team, but WSU is a very close second. Teams I hate are Arizona and Oregon within the division (don't get me started on other teams I hate), dislike Udub and USC but root for them in high streaks. Least hated would have to be Colorado (if I discount WSU).

Minnesota Wild - Nashville Predators
Minnesota Vikings - Detroit Lions
Minnesota Twins - Kansas City Royals
Never followed basketball

Fuck the Stars, Hawks, and Avalanche. One team moved from MN, the second are always killing them playoff time, and Avalanche are a goon squad. Blues are coached by Yeo, who was a doofus coach while here, and the Jets and Predators are probably the least annoying.

One word: LOLions!

Twins: Still haven't really shaken the image that they were bottom feeders until recently. It doesn't seem real, but I can't hate them for success.

Toronto for all teams.

NHL-Harder to pick with NHL since each division has 8 teams, but the one that stands out has to be the Detroit Red Wings. A team that was consistently good for so many years without throwing money at the problem and they've had so many classy players.

MLB-Probably Tampa Bay I guess. As someone who hates teams that throw money at problems, I can't bring myself to like NY or Boston, though Boston is easily the lesser of those two evils. TB just...they don't do much of note and don't usually cause any issues that I can think of.

NBA-I'm a very casual NBA fan so I don't really have an answer for this. Maybe Brooklyn? I'm tempted to say Knicks just because they're so pathetic that I almost pity them.

Spurs - Grizzlies. Always enjoyed their style of basketball. I don't really have much hostility for the Pelicans, either.

Yankees - Orioles. My best friends live in Baltimore and are O's fans, so I don't mind rooting for them anytime they're not playing the Yankees. Plus, Camden Yards is a beautiful ballpark.

Eagles - Giants, I guess, but this is the toughest choice. Hate all three of them pretty passionately.

And I'm a pretty casual NHL fan that's just adopted Vegas as my favorite team, so I don't really have strong feelings on any team one way or the other.

I hate all of the teams in the AL East.

I'm now in the NFC South and none of them are particularly offensive except I hate Atlanta for choking in the SB.

In hockey I only really hate the Flyers.

In basketball I only really hate Golden State.

Soccer... of the teams that I'm supposed to hate, I find Manchester City definitely the least offensive out of them, United, Tottenham, Chelsea, and Liverpool.

Definitely the Seattle Mariners. I have no problem with them aside from them being on the west coast, which causes the time difference to cause evening games to run super late.

For football, the Redskins maybe I guess? I still don't like 'em but I guess they're slightly better than the other two even though (or maybe because) that's the 'classic' rivalry

For the Broncos, I probably hate the Raiders the least. Even though they're good now, they haven't been good for most of the time I've been watching the NFL, so it's hard to consider them rivals. Plus my dad likes them so *shrug*. Most of my hatred is directed towards the Pats primarily, followed by the Chargers, then the Chiefs.

As for other sports I watch them pretty casually, but for the Flames it's the Golden Knights, for the Raptors it's the Celtics, and for the Blue Jays it's the Red Sox...

I dont have a real "team" for NFL. I was born a steelers fan but the NFL is such an easy league to just cheer for the players you like so this whole question doesnt have any real weight for me.

Pittsburgh Pirates - the Cardinals. Which I know doesnt make any sense because theyre the perennial champs but let me put it this way - every other team in this division has spent time in the basement with us and to see THEM beat the cards for the division is way worse than anything the cards could ever do. Fuck the Reds; Double fuck the Brewers; Triple Fuck the Cubs.

Charlotte Hornets - probably the Magic? I dunno the only division rival I even hate is Atlanta.

Georgia Tech - Clemson or VT, I guess. (Just VT if you wanna be technical on division.) There are plenty of teams in the ACC I don't really give a shit about, but there those are the two I'll typically actually root for when they're not playing us.

(Frank Beamer himself pissed me off, though. They don't call chop blocks on us my ass.)

Don't really feel super strongly about rivalries in pro, for how little I watch pro.

It's more of a "fuck the Jets and Bills" thing, but I always enjoy seeing the Dolphins do well.

Jays - Tampa Bay

The Rays are just kind of there, so I don't feel strongly about them either way. I think I'm ready for the Yankees to be good again though.

Leafs - Florida, I guess?

In the old Atlantic division there isn't a single team I'd want to see succeed other than the Leafs, but with the realignment, I guess the Panthers would fit that definition.

Raptors - Philadelphia

Canucks - Ducks - They have a few of my favourite ex-Canucks on their team so it makes it really easy to root for them. They also became relevant again just as Vancouver became entirely irrelevant so the animosity I felt in the mid-late 2000s is gone now.

SF Giants - Padres - They've never been a factor since I started watching Baseball and it's hard to see them being in the picture anytime soon.

76ers - It's basketball, who cares about divisions.

Titans - I think I hate the Colts slightly more than the Jags and Texans... but I have no love for any other team in the division.
