Most of them were probably false reports. Especially if it was people reporting the anime thread.

Here's a crazy concept: the more draconian and wide your ToU, the more work it creates for the mods! When you leave shit up to vague concepts like, "well, it offended somebody...." it makes way more innocuous posts open to being moddable. If there were actual reasonable hard lines (no nudity, no insulting other users, etc...) and things were otherwise free reign, the mods' jobs would be a lot easier, and it'd be much simpler to identify people maliciously using the report function to just harass and target other posters and punish them, instead.

But nah....let's do the opposite.

Whats funny is the mods who do this for free could always just ignore things like horny posting, but thats too much to ask for.
One of the supposed reasons for the changes was too much work for the mods (like how CE being one of the biggest sources for moderations was mentioned), so what do they do?
Massively and ludicrously expand the dragnet of what's against the rules, so there's all sorts of previously ok topics and posts that are now being targeted and shut down by the mods.

Price varies wildly depending on the shape.

A standard size rectangular window, even a fairly large one, is like a few hundred bucks. The labor cost to remove and install is probably close to the material cost.

But once you get fancy w/ circular, rounded, those giant "gallery" view windows that pop out from the siding, etc... shit gets crazy expensive. Like well into the thousands per window.

Even if it's "only" $300 parts and labor b/c it's a basic rectangular window, it still would suck to replace, though.

https://www.thefp.com/p/american-anti-war-activists-cheer?utm_source=tfptwitter

About 300 anti-war activists crowded into the basement of the Teamsters Unions headquarters on Saturday to hear organizers from all over the country describe their plans to disrupt the Democratic National Convention this August. Joe Bidens backing of Israel since Hamass October 7 attack has turned these left-wing radicals against their own party.

Its really inspiring to see that people are just as enthusiastic, and maybe even more enthusiastic, to march on the DNC as they are to march on the RNC, says Omar Flores, a Milwaukee-based activist. We can thank Genocide Joe and our movement for that.

But then a man stumbles to the podium, wiping sweat from his forehead. He grabs the microphone to announce that the Islamic regime of Iran has launched missiles and drones heading straight toward Israel.

They believe that they will be in PalestinianI dont call it Israeliairspace between two and four a.m., which means about two to four hours from now, he says. In addition, there are reports of drones having been fired on Israel from Yemen and Iraq.

The crowd, all wearing black N95s, erupts into applause. Someone in the back lowers their mask to send a celebratory whistle soaring throughout the room.

The man at the podium, Hatem Abudayyeh, heads the U.S. Palestinian Community Network, a purported community group which, on information and belief, is an affiliate of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, a designated terror organization based in Gaza, according to a lawsuit over the alleged relations between U.S. advocacy groups and Hamas.

This is when this country and the world needs us because the United States is going to, quote unquote, defend the criminal Israeli state, says Abudayyeh, whose home was raided by the FBI in 2010 as part of an investigation concerning the material support of terrorism.

We have to assume that the United States is going to try to retaliate against Iran.

After the boos and calls of shame subside, Abudayyeh says it is incumbent upon Americans to stop the United States from expanding this war and hitting Iran.

Weve got to be the strong, powerful anti-war movement that we are, he says, placing the microphone down and exiting the stage.

The crowd immediately began chanting, Hands off Iran.

A woman in a hot pink gas mask, wielding a matching neon cane and dressed in a Protect Trans Kids t-shirt, throws her fist in the air. Nearby, a service poodle is taking a nap under the chair of his owner, who is wearing a leather harness over his t-shirt. Then the group that has joined here from cities across AmericaSeattle, Washington, D.C., Los Angelescheers and claps in celebration.

Joe Iosbaker, an organizer with the Freedom Road Socialist Organization, which called October 7 a good turn of events in its press release about the terrorist attacks, tells me he supports Iran. His organization has since released a statement backing Iran, where citizens gathered to shout Death to America during their nations strike against Israel Saturday night.

We demand hands off Iran, the statement says. The people have power, and we will exercise it in the streets.

Earlier that day, before news of the attack broke, at a breakout session on the anti-war movement, Shabbir Rizvi, an organizer with Anti-War Committee Chicago, taught participants how to chant death to Israel and death to America in Farsi.

Marg bar Israel, he chanted, leading a group of about 80 attendees along with him. A man draped in a Soviet flag bearing a gold hammer and sickle clapped his hands.

A man in a full black denim outfit shouted out behind his N95Can we get a marg bar America?
We can get a marg bar America, Rizvi replied.

Then Rizvi raised his hand in the air, leading the crowd like a conductor.

Marg bar America, they cheered.

On my way out of the event, I ask a woman smoking a cigarette to fill me in on the latest news regarding Irans lobbing of missiles and drones, which were later intercepted with help from forces from France, the U.S., and the UK. Iran said its strike was retaliation for Israels hit on the Iranian embassy in Syria earlier this month, which destroyed the consulate building next to the embassy and killed two of Tehrans top commanders, and that the matter is concludedunless Israel hits back.

Iran is part of the resistance, said the woman, who flew in that morning from New Orleans, where shes been part of an effort to disrupt Israel-bound shipments in her hometown. Yemen and Iran and Hezbollah, who are also a militant group in Lebanon, and the Syrian government are all parts of the arc of resistance.

A smile creeps across her face as she tells me: Theyre part of the arc of resistance because the enemies are Israel and the USA.

"Protest" working as intended! All the cancer patients and doctors to treat them sounding off in the comments sure do appreciate your efforts!

https://reason.com/2022/07/06/blocking-a-highway-is-not-a-legitimate-or-effective-form-of-protest/

The typical reply is that protests aren't meant to be convenient. That's true. And the father of civil disobedienceMartin Luther King, Jr.did it too, right?

Except no, not really. Though King did lead a protest from Selma to Montgomery, famously filling the Edmund Pettus Bridge, it was a march. It did not block interstate and highway traffic indefinitely for the sake of ita tactic King was not comfortable with, despite pressure in the 1960s to get on board. "Even though King didn't come out and criticize it in public, in private he thought it was a misguided tactic," said Brandon Terry, assistant professor of African and African American Studies and Social Studies at Harvard University. "The NAACP thought it was ridiculous." King reportedly posited that such a move pushed the boundaries of acceptable demonstrations and would come back to bite the movement politically.

I wonder how much pollution all of this caused? I wonder if any new parolees got fucked over by these road/bridge blockings? How many cancr patients missed critical appointments?
It's fascinating how the left will gleefully throw literally every other cause they care about under the bus, if they can get some publicity virtue signaling for Palestine.

Other: Ressentiment

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ressentiment

EDIT: I should've just searched "ressentiment trump", lol

https://digitalcommons.unl.edu/commstudiespapers/223/

Abstract
This essay contributes to and reframes the preliminary scholarly assessments of President Donald J. Trumps appeals to rage, malice, and revenge by sketching the rhetorical dimensions of an underlying emotional-moral framework in which victimization, resentment, and revenge are inverted civic virtues. I elaborate on the concept of ressentiment (re-sentiment), a condition in which a subject is addled by rage and envy yet remains impotent, subjugated and unable to act on or adequately express frustration. Though anger and resentment capture part of Trumps aective register, I suggest that ressentiment accounts for the unique intersection where powerful sentiments and self-serving morality are coupled with feelings of powerlessness and ruminations on past injuries. Thus, shifting focus from the rhetoric of resentment to that of ressentiment explains how Trump is able to sustain the aective charge of animus without forfeiting the moral high ground of victimhood to his audiences oppressors Democrats, the press, criminals, immigrants, foreign adversaries, welfare recipients, the Me Too movement, globalists, and racial Others.

Unbeknownst to Gatt, throughout this time Jane Doe was an admittedly obsessed fan who was already using a naked picture of Gatt a still image from his appearance on the television show Banshee that Jane Doe herself had apparently sought out and downloaded from the internet as her phones lock screen even before Gatt had ever had any interaction with her, the court docs state. Gatt also learned much later that Jane Doe had professed that she had sexual dreams involving Gatt, and had also apparently downloaded from the internet pictures of Gatt from his appearance on the television show Z Nation and photoshopped a fake tattoo of her own name onto Gatts right bicep.

The complaint lay out that Gatt hired a personal investigator who he wanted to present his own findings in court, only for the case to be voluntarily dismissed in February. It alleges that the L.A. District Attorneys office threatened Gatt and his personal investigator with jail time if they made their findings public.

According to the complaint, Gatt had to sell his Ford Shelby GT 500 car in order pay for his legal fees because he has not worked since his arrest. Gatt believes his career is now in shambles based on nothing more than facially untrustworthy pictures of a phone screen and the unverified word of an obsessed fan and claims he has suffered immeasurable mental anguish and emotional distress that made him physically ill as a result of this situation.

Some additional details on the "evidence" that led the LA prosecutors to make his life hell for 2 years and threats they made against him.

It's appalling how little media attention this is getting.

I did always wonder though... the scandal was w/ the company and the imposters using other peoples' music, so.... why did the band just die instead of the actual singers getting to continue w/ the popularity and success their music had garnered? This is a shockingly myopic view of the proxy war that's been orchestrated by Iran for the last two decades.

In a broad sense, there are two types of nations in the Middle East. Stable nations with functional economies who collaborate with the international community. This is your Saudi Arabias, Israels, Iraqs, Qatars, Omans, ect.

Then there are you broken states run by fundamentalist military juntas or terrorist organizations. They have nearly non-existant economies and their only significant interactions with the international communities is exporting raw resources and taking international aid. This is your Yemens, Syrias, Jordans, ect.

Essentially every stable country hates Iran, and every broken country works with Iran. This is because Iran has been funnelling tons of weapons, ammo, and military advisors into the hands of the absolute worst actors in basically every cobflict zone in the Middle East, including Hezbollah and Hamas, which is directly relevant to Israel. Iran is an enemy to stability and peace in the region. There is simply no other way to put it.

Iran has essentially been firing rockets into Israel for literal decades now. Think of all the Israeli deaths that Iran is directly responsible for over the years. If there was no Iran, there would be no massive Hamas terrorist attack. They would not have had the weapons and training necessary to embolden them so, and the likely explicit backing of Iran behind the scenes. While I fundamentally disagree with Israel's approach to Palestine, it is utterly absurd and hypocritical to look at this situation and say "Well, Israel should have just not provoked Iran!"

Great post, though Jordan belongs in the former group.

The ideal scenario would be for both sides to wipe each other out. There is no room for religious fanatic nations. It's also the only scenario that secures long term peace in the region, let it escalate amongst themselves.
What the fuck?!

Clock Tower is already getting revived

Yeah, but the person in charge of the revival is a fucking monster, so it'd be nice to have a redo on that one.

Strangely leaving out the undisputed fact that Iran is the primary backers of hamas
Or that Iran is the #1 proponent of the sanctity of embassies and consulates.
No, divert your lying eyes from the fact they had a clown car of Islamic Revolutionary Guard members in a "civilian" building near the border with Israel!
Just remember it was still a consulate building on paper, no matter what it was being used for in reality, and that Iran values the sanctity of consulates and embassies more than any other nation in the history of Earth!
They would NEVER attack one themselves as long as you ignore history before 1981

Lobbing hundreds of drones and cruise missiles at an entire country, across the airspace of other countries without their consent, is "remarkably mature".

It never ceases to amaze me, the levels to which Iran gets a fucking pass for everything it does.

"It's ok, Israel and the US spent billions of dollars to protect civilians from their reckless attack!" (which was far from guaranteed to prevent any casualties, since a massive barrage overloading the missile defense systems' capacity is exactly the sort of scenario it's most likely to let some through) is somehow a perfectly valid excuse.

At least six freeloaders broke into Ramsays York and Albany hotel and gastropub, which is for sale for $16.1 million, boarded up the windows, locked the door with kitchen utensils and glued the locks.

The chef is trying to sign over the building in a multi-million-dollar deal, The Sun reports. Ramsay stars in the "Hell's Kitchen, The American Dream" reality show and Next Level Chef on Fox.

Shocking photographs show the squatters holed up in the trendy pub, one of whom can be seen barefoot and sprawled across on a black leather sofa.

A group of "professional squatters" have taken over a U.K. pub owned by celebrity chef Gordan Ramsay, left, and are threatening legal action against being evicted.

Another slipper-wearing occupier was scrolling his smartphone with tobacco, empty water bottles and wine glasses on the floor around him. A blue sleeping bag was dumped on another sofa while a pair of crutches were also visible.

The squatters also slapped up a "legal warning" sign on the front door defending their takeover and cautioned against any eviction attempts, The Sun reports.

The invaders say they have a right to be there, since it is not a residential building.

The occupation of a persons non-residential property without their permission is not itself a crime in the U.K., though police can take action if crimes are subsequently committed, including damaging the property or stealing from it, according to Wales Online.

So... the police going to put down the donuts and get on this, or what?
Pretty sure gluing the fucking locks counts as damaging the property and drinking the wine is stealing.
