Simple workaround. Create LLC. LLC organizes protest. LLC Declares bankruptcy afterwards.

Huge clickbait headline. Helps to actually read it to realize how biased and poorly it's written. May as well be a fox news article.

a protest organizer faces potentially ruinous financial consequences if a single attendee at a mass protest commits an illegal act.

Making the organizers responsible for the Rittenhouses of the world sounds like a terrible thing.

We are going down that road, and the GOP has no one but themselves to blame. This government is built on the idea that everyone is acting in good faith and will play by the rules. Starting in the 90s and culminating with this MAGA cult bullshit, the GOP decided they would cling to power by courting extremists and openly operating in bad faith. Culminating, perhaps, with them openly stealing a SC seat during President Obamas term.

Of course the faith in public institutions is going to erode under those circumstances. And why wouldnt it? When an obviously politicized court is denying women basic decisions about their healthcare and destiny and upholding the destruction of basic freedoms of association and speech, what are we supposed to think?

I believe in the rule of law, and I am not advocating anything other than upholding the rule of law. If we want better courts, we need to vote and make sure Democrats are picking the judges.

But it is ridiculous to think that decades of bad faith governing by the GOP will have no cost. I firmly believe the day is coming when a blue state governor openly ignores the SC-and I wont blame them when they do. The GOP started this cycle, and our entire system of government is in shambles as a result. Starting with an SC that is impossible for non-cult members to have any faith in.

I dont think you should be talking about poorly written statements.

but fuck it, lets hear your opinion on semantics and how financially discouraging organization isnt effectively abolishing the right to protest in all but name.

Just to clarify, it's those three states because that's the scope of the appellate court whose ruling they left standing

Well, that's fucking abhorrent. And just in time to take effect when Texas blatantly rigs the election for Trump to stop people from protesting about it.

Only silver lining is that now any time a MAGA protest happens in those states, it'll be super easy to use this against them. Might force the courts to backtrack when they see the unintended consequences (ie, used against the right-wing)

What an awful ruling, and of course it's the shitty 5th Circuit. The lack of logic here is astounding, and how come the same situation wouldn't somehow apply to organized concerts, sporting events, etc. And how easy it would be for opposition to sabotage the event.

Which makes it even more insane that Dems are fighting against a Muslim judge and not realizing that Republicans will literally nominate anyone and everyone.

People put too much emphasis on the supreme Court and not all the other judges that Trump & McConnell rammed through on a fast track from the federalist society. Including people like Aileen Cannon
