Analyst: Attack is a 'major milestone,' even if Iran intended it to be largely symbolic

Iran's unprecedented attack on Israel marks a significant moment in history, even if it was intended to be largely symbolic, according to an analyst with geopolitical risk advisory firm Eurasia Group.

"Make no mistake: even if #Iran intended this to be a telegraphed and (it would seem) largely symbolic show of force to restore deterrence, it has attacked Israel with missiles and drones for the first time," tweeted Gregory Brew, an Iran analyst.

"Alea iacta est, folks," he added, using a Latin term for "the die is cast."

Brew wrote that he "did not anticipate Iran would use its own missiles, from within its own territory, against Israel directly."

"A major milestone," Brew tweeted.

As I said. Iran just opened Pandora's box. Better not cry later when the same is done to them.

Missile debris lands in the Jordanian capital

Security agents stand around the debris of a missile that Jordanian forces intercepted over the capital, Amman, amid an unprecedented Iranian drone and missile attack on Israel.

And let us not forget how Iran sent hundreds of drones and missiles right across Jordan's airspace, endangering them as well. But I expect, as always, Iran will get a total fucking pass for all of its international atrocities.

Ukraine condemns Iran, drawing parallels with Russian attacks as it pushes for new U.S. aid

Ukraine has condemned Iran's attack on Israel, drawing parallels with its fight against Russia as Kyiv presses its allies to boost its own aerial defenses, which have come under increasing attack from drones Tehran has supplied to Moscow.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on X that "Irans actions threaten the entire region and the world, just as Russias actions threaten a larger conflict."

Zelenskyy called on the U.S. to make the necessary decisions to strengthen Americas allies at this critical time," with new military aid for Kyiv held up by Republicans in Congress and Russia threatening a battlefield breakthrough.

His post came hours after the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs appealed for the world to act "before it's too late."

"Just as #Iran attacked #Israel with Shahed drones last night, Russia simultaneously attacked Kharkiv in Ukraine with the same weapon," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs posted on X today. "Unpunished evil always returns and, if not stopped, spreads widely. The time to break this cycle of violence is now. Before its too late."

Sad that the obvious needs to be stated, and that many on the left will still ignore it. Iran is a terrorist state.
Hopefully Biden wins in November and someone who's determined to protect Israel but not right-wing politically replaces Netanyahu. Israel is fucking pissed at Russia for their hand in Hamas's attacks, and I foresee a bright future of US-Ukraine-Israel relations with Israel, backed by US funding, mass producing the Iron Dome for Ukraine.
Don't fuck it up, leftists.

TopicJoseph Gatt, falsely smeared a pedo by corrupt DA, suing LA for $40 million

Update to the previous topic I had on this! Joseph Gatt (actor most known for his role in Game of Thrones) is not going to take his abuse by prosecutors silently, and is fighting back! And there's new details about this absolute shit show since the original case dismissal.

https://deadline.com/2024/04/joseph-gatt-sues-los-angeles-police-lapd-false-pedophile-claims-1235876289/

Almost two years after Joseph Gatt was arrested by the LAPD on now-dismissed charges of engaging in online sexually explicit communication with a minor across state lines, the Game of Thrones actor is taking on the police, the city of Los Angeles and the office of District Attorney George Gascn.

In a $40 million suit filed Thursday in federal court in Los Angeles (read it here), Gatt alleges he was falsely labeled as serial pedophile. To that end, he and his attorneys have put before the court a sordid saga of a 16-year-old obsessed fan, a botched police probe, and a now former Deputy L.A. D.A. with a supposed personal animosity against the actor.

The violation of constitutional rights complaint, which comes six weeks after an L.A. judge tossed out the felony case against Gatt without prejudice on the advice of the prosecution, reads like an louche thriller that most studios and streamers would reject as too over the top. Having lost his reputation, his freedom of speech (for a while), and his career, the actor who played Thenn Warg on Season 4 of GoT wants his own day in court, and he wants the steamrolling he experienced to all come out in public:

Defendants, using threats, intimidation and coercion, and with no cause, let alone probable cause, subjected Gatta successful actor with numerous film and television series credits, including Game of Thrones and Banshee, among many othersto an utterly baseless arrest, unlawful detention, unlawful search and seizure of property, and malicious prosecution in which Gatt was alleged to have electronically communicated with a minor in a sexually explicit manner. Defendants conduct was purportedly based solely on the uncorroborated word of a then-16-year-old, admittedly obsessed fan of Gattwho will be referred to throughout this Complaint as Jane Doe to preserve her privacy because she was a minor at the time and is not a party to this actionwhom Gatt did not know and has never actually met, and whom Defendants did not even bother to interview or even remotely assess for credibility until almost one year after Defendants arrested Gatt, charged him with baseless crimes, and publicly branded him as a serial pedophile.

The complaint from the UK-born journeyman actor lays out a frightening sequence of events at how a seemingly innocent Cameo birthday greeting by Gatt to a teen in Washington state in 2020 turned into a raid of the actors home in April 2022, his arrest and his apparent silencing as a condition of bail. The jury-seeking filing also points detailed and private investigator-backed fingers at the current L.A. DA Gascn, onetime deputy DA Angela Brunson (who left to work in the Riverside County DAs office last summer), and LAPD Det. Denos Amarantos over their alleged roles in this perplexing case.

The abuses in question were the product of a culture of tolerance within the LA DA and/or LAPD. This culture is rooted in the deliberate indifference of high-ranking LA County and/or City of Los Angeles officials, including without limitation Defendants Gascn, Brunson, and Amarantos and any other high-ranking official, individually or acting in concert with one another, to the widespread misconduct on the part of the LA DA and/or LAPD employees, investigators, and consultants in recklessly engaging in unlawful arrests, searches, seizures, and criminal prosecutions.

Neither the LAPD nor the Los Angeles County DAs office would comment on the filing by the Black Adam actor and its claims today because of the pending litigation. However, Gatts and hisKasowitz Benson Torres legal team have a high-octane theory as to why this case was so deep-rooted for Brunson and it has little to do with the alleged sex crime itself.

Gatt was well known in the high-performance sports car community generally, and to DDA Brunson specifically, for his liberal political beliefs, including his vocal support for the Black Lives Matter movement and for LA County District Attorney George Gascn. Like the vast majority of the high-performance sports car community, DDA Brunson espouses conservative political beliefs that are the polar opposite of Gatts beliefs, and she was also a vocal critic of Gascn despite working for him at the LA DA.

The 38-page complaint goes on to say:

Given her political beliefs and Gatts reputation as a liberal and a Gascn supporter in their shared community including his connection to her boyfriends employer, WRTeknica DDA Brunson clearly already held personal animosity toward Gatt at the time this matter was referred to LA County. Remarkably, however, DDA Brunson never revealed her personal connections and clear conflicts of interest to the Court, Gatt, or his criminal defense counsel.

Even though the February 9 dismissal of the initial case by L.A. Superior Court Judge M.L. Villar does allow the prosecution to refile charges if they wish, Gatts primary lawyer Dean Pamphilis was unequivocal to Deadline about what he thinks this public suit is all about.

The arrest and charges against Mr. Gatt for which he was branded by the Los Angeles DA and LAPD as a serial pedophile were based on fabricated evidence, the Kasowitz Benson Torres partner said. Twenty months later, when the fabricated evidence was finally disclosed to Mr. Gatt and Mr. Gatts forensic expert were prepared to expose the truth in open court, the Los Angeles DA voluntarily dismissed the criminal complaint. Mr. Gatt, however, had already lost his community, his acting career and his personal reputation. We look forward to recovering Mr. Gatts enormous losses in court.

Un-fucking real! It took nearly two years of career and reputation destruction before he and his legal team even got to see the evidence and that it was fabricated (the fan literally photoshopped scenes from his films and put herself in them), and they didn't even talk to the supposed victim for a damn year...and then kept dragging his name thru the mud for another year after that!

Fuck them, and fuck prosecutorial immunity. A whole lot of people should be in jail right now.

Argentinas highest criminal court reported a new development Thursday in the elusive quest for justice in the deadliest attack in the countrys history the 1994 bombing of a Jewish community center headquarters concluding Iran had planned the attack and Lebanons Hezbollah militant group had executed the plans.

In a ruling obtained by The Associated Press, Argentinas Court of Cassation deemed Iran and its Lebanese proxy, Hezbollah, responsible for the bombing in Buenos Aires that leveled the community center, killing 85 people, wounding 300 and devastating Latin Americas biggest Jewish community. The court said the attack came in retaliation for Argentina reneging on a nuclear cooperation deal with Tehran.

Alleging Irans political and strategic role in the bombing, the Argentine court paved the way for victims families to bring lawsuits against the Islamic Republic. In the past three decades, Iran has not turned over citizens convicted in Argentina. Interpol arrest warrants have led nowhere.

The significance of these grave human rights violations for the international community as a whole invokes a states duty to provide judicial protection, the ruling said, declaring the bombing of the Argentine Jewish Mutual Aid Association community center a crime against humanity.

https://nypost.com/2024/04/09/us-news/sheila-jackson-lee-tells-students-the-moon-is-a-planet-made-up-mostly-of-gases/

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) stunned attendees at a high school solar eclipse event Monday by claiming the rock-solid moon is a planet that is made up mostly of gases before adding she still wants to be first in line to learn how to live there.

The former top Democrat on the House Science Committees space subcommittee badly botched elementary lunar facts while speaking during the gathering at Booker T. Washington High School in Houston.

Youve heard the word full moon. Sometimes you need to take the opportunity just to come out and see a full moon is that complete rounded circle, which is made up mostly of gases, Jackson Lee, 74, told teenage pupils who gathered on a sports field ahead of the rare celestial event.

And thats why the question is why or how could we as humans live on the moon? Are the gases such that we could do that? the congresswoman said.

The sun is a mighty powerful heat, but its almost impossible to go near the sun. The moon is more manageable.

Jackson Lee made a series of other questionable statements, including saying the moon, which reflects the suns light, gives off unique light and energy and misstating the scientific reason for the eclipse.

She's been on the science and space subcommittees and has a degree from Yale.

https://www.al.com/news/2024/02/archibald-alabama-prisoners-organs-vanish-and-theres-a-whole-lot-of-passing-the-buck-and-the-bodies.html

Whats happening in Alabama is ghoulish. Like some kind of B movie.

Evasion by the Body Snatchers. Or Resident Retrieval.

Except its real life. And real death.

Brandon Dotson died in November at an Alabama prison in Clayton. When his body was returned to Dotsons family, it contained no heart.

Like the prison system itself, some would argue.

Kelvin Moore died earlier last year at a prison in dare I even say it Harvest, Alabama. When his family got his body it was missing organs, too.

And when Charles Singleton, incarcerated at the Hamilton Aged and Infirmed prison in north Alabama, died at a hospital in November 2021, his body was returned to family after an autopsy at UAB.

It was missing a brain, among other organs.

Id make a Wizard of Oz joke about Alabama missing the courage to address these nightmares, but there is nothing whimsical about this.

Alabama, apparently with the University of Alabama at Birmingham and the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences as its scalpels, is treating its incarcerated people in death the same way it does in life.

As meat. Stripped of humanity, exploited for labor or whim or scientific advancement because because we can call them criminals instead of people.

Its as simple as that.

Oh, the Alabama Department of Corrections can shrug and point vaguely at UAB, and UAB can shrug and point vaguely to legal documents that appear to give it the right to remove organs for study and instruction. And they are probably safe on that. The best medical complex in these parts likely covered its own parts when it took part in taking those parts.

But there were warnings.

In 2018, UAB medical students worried about the process of extracting organs from people who died in custody and did not give consent. Two of those students, representing a group of 13, went before doctors that September to seek guidance about the legal and the ethical status of this tissue procurement process and the teaching use of these specimens.

The students did not get a lot of satisfaction, according to notes of that meeting filed in federal court.

The students were told the removal of organs were part of autopsies required by law for prisoners. They were told that using them for teaching future physicians benefits future patients, and if organs werent used theyd be thrown away and would serve no useful purpose.

The students were told that in private autopsies not the ones involving prisoner deaths family members can opt out of allowing that sort of organ use. UAB ethicists told those students opting out is extremely rare.

Of over 3,000 cases of gross autopsy performed at UAB from 2011 to present, only four families refused to allow the teaching uses of the deceased persons specimens, they said.

But thats the thing.

The families of these inmates had no such opportunity. They got news of their loved ones deaths, and bodies returned with pieces missing.

UAB has insisted it follows the letter of the law. A UAB statement sent recently to AL.com said the school only conducts autopsies after obtaining consent or authorization from the appropriate state official.

Whoever that might be.

It went on to say the ADOC is responsible for obtaining proper authorizations from the appropriate legal representative of the deceased. The authorization forms not only provide permission for the autopsy, but also specifically include consent for the removal of organs or tissues for diagnostic or other testing including final disposition.

ADOC, in another statement to my colleague Ivana Hrynkiw, said the ADOC does not authorize or perform autopsies. Once an inmate dies, the body is transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences or UAB for autopsy.

The publication Andscape spoke to a former UAB student about how course instructors explained what happens:

They shared with us that when the prison warden filled out the autopsy request form, they rarely check the box to opt out of organ use for educational and research purposes, the student told that publication.

Thats been a tug of war, too.

In a federal courtroom back and forth over Dotsons missing heart, Alabama prison officials said they gave the body, intact, to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences, which didnt have much of an answer for any of it. It was after a second autopsy, ordered by the Dotson family and performed by a private doctor, that no heart was found.

In more ways than one.

Its a whole lot of passing the buck. And the bodies.

Because when prisoners families have no opportunity to opt out of organ collection, nobody opts out. ADOC passes to UAB or the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences and UAB takes what it will and passes whats left of the bodies to the only people who care about them.

And nobody in charge thinks it matters at all.

Its just a body. Just a prisoner.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BX88rep3Q1U
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4dnPONCNuw

No one knows the extent of this criminal enterprise, the only reason the families mentioned know is b/c they paid the money for their own autopsies b/c the cause of death and other details provided by the wardens were bull shit.
Young people dying under mysterious circumstances being gutted like a fish for their organs. Makes you wonder if the prisons are even "merely" being opportunists when people die in their "care", or they're outright murdering them....

In his sentencing memo Thursday, U.S. District Judge Cormac J. Carney made it clear why he was letting Tyler Laube off lightly.

It wasnt just because of what Laube did or didnt do the defendant had already confessed to beating a journalist at a 2017 Southern California rally and pleaded guilty to violating riot laws as part of a white supremacist gang.

Laube deserved a light sentence, Carney said, because prosecutors should have focused on leftist groups.

In a 22-page memo, Carney repeatedly said prosecutors have ignored violence committed by Antifa and instead focused on targeting people like Laube Trump supporters and members of the far right.

Sentencing Mr. Laube to additional incarceration would only increase the disparity between his punishment and the lack of punishment (and prosecution) members of far-left groups who have committed the same violent conduct received, Carney wrote. The sentence: time served, 35 days, rather than the six months prosecutors had sought.

The same day Laube received his sentence at the federal courthouse in Santa Ana, California, the largest-ever prosecution of members of Antifa in American history was going to trial just 89 miles away.

In San Diego, the last two defendants in the San Diego 11 members of Antifa charged with committing violence against Trump supporters in January 2021 were sitting before a jury. Their nine co-defendants have already been sentenced, some of them to years in prison, for their crimes.

Literally disproven of his claims by shit happening a few towns over the same fucking day!

It's like they can't b/c Boeing is too big to fail, but if you don't break them the fuck up, they'll continue to be TBTF.
And all the executives need to be in jail for hundreds of counts of murder plus one count for each for hiring a hitman.

I would say more about what should be done to them, but I suspect when it's "white collar" killers, you're not allowed to...say what they actually deserve... on here

Ok. maybe the show's not for you, then?
It's also an OVA / bonus episode, not part of the main show.

This is one of those shows where its better to watch the dub. Bang Zoom and usually Funimation with a comedy show = excellent dub

It's worth watching both.
The sub is awesome, with previously unknown / brand new VA talent, that ad libbed a bunch of shit like the "Yes, I'm Kazuma" bit.

Now that I'm remembering it, that was another thing that was offputting to me. It was too pervy. Sure that stuff is tame, but it's still way more pervy than the anime I normally watch. Like in one episode he kept accidentally stealing panties with the steal skill... Why?

I'm still gonna give it another chance, but I don't know how much of that I can put up with
The main character is a pervert, Darkness is a(n even bigger) pervert, Aqua kinda is, too...
It's an ecchi anime. It has perverted humor. For me, that's a massive plus, I love that stuff.
As far as actual sexual content, it ends up not being that much, but the whole show is chock full of sexual jokes and innuendo. I guess if you don't like that stuff, it won't be for you. But on the scale of all anime, it's really not that extreme...partly b/c some anime really tip the scales for what a 10/10 on the horniness meter means....

i am now less interested in the show than before
It's ludicrously tame.
One of the girls he rests his head in her lap. Darkness he makes do push ups for some boob jiggle. Aqua he just has run errands for him b/c she's such a horrible person he's not even attracted enough to make her do anything pervy. And so on...

Now, Season 1 Episode 9 has some good stuff in it...

Konosuba is hilarious.

Darkness is the best character (along w/ Kazuma) and it's disappointing how often she gets shunted to the background. Also while Megumin isn't bad (I like all the characters), she's definitely the least interesting yet gets most of the attention.
I think next season is supposed to have more Darkness-focused stuff, right?

Can't connect to the internet. Did they shut the servers down early? Gotten like 10 different fucking error codes after an hour of fail, and at least half of them are just straight up, "the server may be busy".

Can't update my system. Can't sign into the Nintendo network. Can't connect to internet for Xenoblade X online content.

I think the general attitude is more "it's bad in general but we aren't going to care so much about the individual case when it's one of those".

I love animals and usually always prefer the company of animals to people but just curious why the raping of adults is different to you? Obviously we need to protect the children but I just find this mentality curious.
For me, it's a difference of preying upon those too weak or incapable of knowing what you're doing to them. Preying upon children and animals is more despicable to me than doing similar crimes to functioning human adults. There's a reason a child or pet is "in your care" but an adult human is not (aside from some disabled people, which I guess should've been included in my list as especially heinous victims).
That's basically my reasoning for saying those criminals are a tier even worse.

Mass Murderers
Child rapists/abusers
Torturers
Animal cruelty scumbags
Some specific examples where the criminal blatantly got way too light of a sentence (though usually those seem to be cases where they get no prison time at all just community service or home confinement or such, so even "prison justice" isn't on the table)

For the above, yes. For anyone else, no (which includes Danny).

There's no "technically" here. It doesn't matter how bad the person being sheltered is, you just do not go after those buildings. I can't even think of any other examples offhand of a country's military or police just invading another nation's embassy like that.

There's probably been a bunch of cases where a spy in an embassy in a foreign country that's enemies to his home country got captured and no one said anything about it b/c it was more important to pretend they weren't there in the first place.

And obviously Mexico is justified to be upset about it. It's a pretty publicized/blatant egress, no country is going to say, "fair, next" when it happens in one of theirs and it becomes public knowledge.

I assume the issue is more conducting a raid on a foreign embassy than Jorge Glas himself
I know. But it's like how Iran abused "it's a consulate, no attackies here!" to have a shit load of IRG military members a few miles from Israel's borders or how Julian Assange abused embassy protections to evade justice for being a Russian spy and possible rapist.
Like yeah...technically you're not supposed to go after those buildings, but... in none of those cases do I actually care if those rules get bent. Evil people love abusing legal technicalities to hide behind.
Why is Mexico so vested in protecting his ass when his corrupt deals were w/ Brazil, anyway? Shouldn't it be Brazil protecting him? What's Mexico hiding?

Ben Shapiro co-owns a large media network and (at least for now) appears to have a happy family life and no personal scandals other than far right political views.

Steven Crowder has all of Ben's negatives plus is an absolute fucking train wreck and a garbage tier human being even to his friends and family, and currently has lawsuits from his wife and his former friends tearing his business and personal life apart.
It's almost impressive how he's managed to burn every fucking interpersonal bridge imaginable. I saw the shit his former friend Jared and his ex-wife allege, and the dude is just a total monster in all facets of life.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jorge_Glas

On December 15, 2017, Glas was sentenced to six years in prison for taking $13.5 million from Brazilian conglomerate Odebrecht.

On 2 January 2018, under Ecuador's Constitution's Article 146, as Glas was unable to exercise his office for 90 days, he was stripped of his office. On 6 January 2018, Mara Alejandra Vicua was formally sworn in as Vice President of Ecuador after the National Assembly voted to approve her for the position.

In October 2019, The National Supreme Court of Justice reaffirmed his six-year prison sentence. Glas was imprisoned in Latacunga, south of Quito, in 2017.

In April 2020, Glas was sentenced to 8 years in prison for aggravated bribery by a Court of the National Court of Justice. In addition, he lost his political rights for 25 years.

In January 2021, Ecuador's Superior Court added another sentence of eight years in prison for misuse of public funds in an oil contract.

He was granted Habeas corpus on April 10, 2022, which allowed him to be released on parole for 40 days, which was revoked by a court in the province of Santa Elena, with which Jorge Glas was imprisoned again.

He fled to the Mexican embassy and was granted political asylum. On 5 April 2024, he was arrested by Ecuadorian police after they raided the embassy in Quito. After this incident, Ecuador and Mexico said that they will sever relations.

So... is this guy like verified to be super corrupt, or is he a victim of bs charges?
Cause if he really is that corrupt, then...don't really have much sympathy for him.
Imagine if the US jailed corrupt politicians with a vengeance like this.

It's plainly worse than 10 and some stuff can be fixed w/ work on your end, other stuff I haven't been able to yet.

By far the most annoying is the merged Internet/Volume/Power in the taskbar that I can't seem to separate no matter what I try. And when you click on the time, instead of just the calendar popping up, you get an unwanted Notifications window on top of it, too, plus this stupid fucking "Focus" button.

Also, I hate that the tabs (a chore in itself to get instead of just icons in the taskbar) have a preview thumbnail when you hover over them. I fixed it with a registry edit (I swear I have done like 3x the regedits for Win 11 that I did for Win 10 and still hate the final UI more), but as soon as a windows update happened, it reverted back and I gave up.
