It will change when the Vietnam Veterans all die off. Those men went through some horrible times, no one wants to tell them they watched their friends get killed and mutilated, or that they themselves killed and mutilated people, for a war that was wrong.

And I understand, they were drafted and didn't want to be there, and they suffered horrible injuries and death themselves because it's war, and war is brutal.

But it's irritating when everything about the Vietnam war is from their perspective, and to sympathize with them, instead of the Vietnamese, who suffered far worse and were the ones being invaded by a much stronger military.

They never even taught us about Vietnam in high school, usually stopped a bit after WW2.

But the more I've read about it, the more impressed I am with the North Vietnamese.
They fought off two of the most powerful militaries in the world back to back (France, then US...the global super power), then defeated the Khmer Rouge and ended Pol Pot's reign of terror.
In all three cases, the other side was the aggressor. They did what few other colonial lands could manage and kicked out the invaders, then rescued Cambodia from the worst mass murderer since Stalin and hitler.
They're fucking heroes. Oddly, U.S. history books and media seem mum on all of this. I wonder why...?

Vietnam in general is really impressive. They eventually forgave us (funny how in the media, it's portrayed as us forgiving them) and became democratic allies and a stable country all on their own initiative. It was touching, when McCain passed away, seeing the guy who oversaw his detainment eulogizing him.

Yeah I would have given Andrew the ol' heave ho too if I found out he did this while representing my company that I own in my imagination.

Same.

I don't agree with his views at all, but don't think that should be a reason to fire him from some innocuous cable company job. Comcast is evil anyway, he's kind of a perfect fit.

It'd be one thing if twits on twitter hunted down his identity and made the link to his place of employment, but he advertised it for them. No company wants to be associated with these groups.

There are no details being left out. Cops got away with shooting an unarmed person. Simple as that.

Except you completely ignore the fact that barriss had phoned up saying that he had killed someone and taken people hostage.

"We've got a hostage situation in there. Huh? Someone's opening the front door?"
"Shoot!"
"But, it could be a hostage escaping...."
"Who gives a shit about that, just shoot damn it!"

He was shot because he reached for something in his waistband.

"In other news, the cops also said they feared for their lives, that he failed to comply with their orders to simultaneously put his hands up and keep them at his sides, and they searched his home and dutifully reported to the public on any dirty laundry about his past they could find.
The official police report of the events that transpired were oddly later disproven by video evidence recorded by a civilian bystander despite the cop writing the report being given several days to collect his thoughts before submitting the report and collaborate with other officers and attorneys about how the scenario unfolded. The police then amended the report, which we have every reason to believe is an honest retelling of events, this time, unless more video evidence should surface to the contrary. Because the police would never lie."

The above is parody, stringing together some common schemes and tropes of the reports written by cops about events they're under scrutiny for. Never fucking trust those reports, the ones that hold up are the events that no 3rd party was able to capture video evidence about.

5 years for taping a phone call and posting it on the internet is fucking bull shit, any time in prison for it is ridiculous.

The majority of states don't even require both parties to be aware of / consent to being taped in a phone conversation, and it's a disgrace that the backwards states that do require it haven't had their laws struck down by the courts yet.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telephone_recording_laws#United_States

Never heard of him before, not sure what his username was on here. His other acts sound pretty bad, but this particular one seems like trumped up bs.

A lot of his arrests are borderline BS, but it's just an accumulation of nonsense that keeps landing him in trouble.

And, in general, one-party consent laws have a very rape-y tone.

....lolwhat?

One-party consent = Only one person involved in the phone call needs to consent to (or even be aware of) the recording
Two-party consent = Two (or all parties) involved in the phone call need to consent to the recording.

And what does any of that have to do with grape?

Grape? Nothing. Rape? It's another one-party consent activity that violates a person's rights and feeling of security. Unlike activities occurring in a public setting, there's a reasonable expectation of privacy that gets violated.

But everything after is complete shit and is the stuff that the series is known for. Even worse, DBZ was SO MANY people's first experience w/ anime.
Which means there's a ton of annoying nostalgia goggle-blinded fools who think it's the best thing ever, and...it's also kind of amazing how many people I've met who said "anime sucks" and when I ask what anime they've seen to draw that conclusion, 90% of the time the answer is simply "Dragon Ball Z." Which...I can understand how that one series as a first impression would sour an entire medium of entertainment to somebody, but it still sucks thinking about how many people w/ good taste have probably been turned off of anime by the one freaking show.

When i want a challenging game i want it to be difficult, and not simulate difficulty by making me fucking wait and wait and wait.

And you know what, i take it back. 4swords with 4 friends was actually a lot of fun. So they managed to make one after the NES.

Turn off the notification system in BotW and you kind of have that. (Yes, I intentionally covered the map when it shows you where the dungeons are for the first time, and immediately deselected that mission)
Everything that I have done in that game has been though pure exploration.

Ive actually heard decent things about botw, but after the massive string of disappointments before it i dont think i can justify buying a full fucking console for it.

So i will give botw a maybe, but wind waker, link to the past, ocarina, majoras and twilight princess were all overrated pieces of hot fucking dogshit

A woman who attacked a bus driver after she missed her stop was partially responsible for a dramatic crash in southwestern China that killed all 15 people on board, an investigation by Chinese authorities revealed Friday.

The 48-year-old woman then attacked the driver with her cell phone, while he fought back with his right arm.
When she struck him again, he abruptly turned the steering wheel left, swerving into oncoming traffic before crashing into the railings on the side of a bridge -- screaming can be heard as the video stops.

PARTIALLY? How is that partially responsible? She attacked the driver while he was operating the bus! It's entirely her fault. She's dead now, I don't think placing the blame where it's due will hurt her feelings or anything.

Given that the way that the national debt has been handled, budget deficits are effectively meaningless right now because we have an obscene amount of credit available.

The more debt is piled on, the greater the amount of tax revenue that has to be diverted to interest payments to service that debt and the greater the impact will be.

That's not a dealbreaker, but running sky-high deficits now, during a period when the economy is roaring and sound economic policy would involve paying down the debt, is economic lunacy.

Plus, just imagine how bad it will get when the next recession hits. The massive deficits being run now is under the best case scenario of the economy.

Not to mention interest rates are still near historic lows, but are slowly climbing back into normalcy. In the future, it will get more and more expensive to borrow money to pay off the debt incurred from previously borrowing money.
