It was established in part 4 that stand powers get weaker if they aren't maintained, sort of like muscle mass. I'm perfectly fine believing that Joseph was simply too old and too senile to properly use his abilities anymore.

I know, I know. It just was really obvious this time for me I guess. I don't really hate it, I just get passionate and like to call stuff out. The part on the whole just felt like a let down for me so I over zealously attack certain things.

In your defense, it's completely fair to criticize the series for its inconsistencies. JoJo isn't some B movie or young adult novel where you can hand wave away inconsistencies because none of it is well written. Araki is a good enough author that he can be held accountable for his errors, especially since he's the one that explicitly established those rules in the first place.

Isn't that the first time? I'm talking about in the finale where Koichi stalls Kira long enough for Jotaro to get in range to time stop.

But they weren't miles away in that scene. They were like less than a block away unless I'm remembering wrong. The only time they were miles away is the first time as mentioned above.

There's also a difference between stand range and stand ability range. Avdols Phoenix couldn't go very far away from him but his fire attacks extended quite a bit further. Act 3 is presumably like that.

Then as a slap to the face Koichi, one of the ones toting the rules all the time uses act 3 to weigh down Kira's hand from MILES away when echoes act 3 is supposed to be super short range... the rules only apply when it builds (fake) tension.

Didn't he use act 3 on the mini stand that came out of killer Queens hand and that's why kira's hand got weighed down? It's been established since part 3 that hurting a stand hurts the user, so what koichi did is consistent with the rules. The bigger issue there is killer Queen having a remote stand in the first place.

Also is that what was happening with the cat, she was forcefully keeping it alive? I thought it was meant to show how Dwight had euthanizing trigger finger and was that type of person.

It's a bit of both. Dwight was in the wrong for doing it without telling her and then lying about it, but if you go back and watch the scene where she's giving Dwight all these instructions it's clear her cat had like... a dozen crippling illnisses and was probably in a state of constant sedation or suffering because Angela couldn't let the cat go.

EDIT: Here's the scene

Could someone explain Angela's horrible cheating on Andy with Dwight thing?

Like... why not just stop dating Andy? Why continue to do that? She's always been shown to be a bit of a grump, but this is a different kind of assholery not related to being a sourpuss. It's a whole nother level

I mean did they just do it to make Andy a more sympathetic character after his initial annoying debut?

She's just a selfish person. She kept her one cat alive way past the point where it should be because she wanted it alive. She dated a state senator and then would constantly tell everyone about how important she is as a state senator's wife. Dwight and Andy isn't even the first time she let two men fight over her. She became pregnant buddies with Pam and seemed to almost exclusively talk down to her or highlight the fact that she was so thin in comparison.

That's just always how she's been.

Dwight is not mentally ill, what the fuck is this?

There's a weird fan theory that Dwight has a mental illness because of an episode in one of the last seasons where he finds a Zoloft or something in the office and is eventually consulted by Nelly because it's hers. People assume that the reason why he's so cheery and friendly in the last episodes is because after the time skip he had gone on meds.

It's all completely baseless speculation, but a lot of people just act like it's true.

Edit: people like the theory because, in part, it lets them retroactively say that Jim spends the entire show picking on a mentally ill person. It's just part of the jim and pam hate train.

it's been a while since I've played, but I think about mid to mid-late game, depending on the side stuff you might do.

how are you liking the game, btw?

Honestly I think its way better than its reputation. Yes, the performance at launch on last gen consoles is unacceptable and yes, some of the core systems (I'm looking at you, crafting) are fundamentally broken, but there's a real treasure of a game buried under all that. The main quest has been interesting enough, the acting is top tier, the sidequests have been interesting and varied, and the actual combat is engaging and tight. I also think the game really gets undersold from an aesthetic perspective. I've intentionally avoided ever using fast travel, and driving from district to district really presents a huge amount of variety in the city. True, it's a lot of empty space designed to look lived in... it would have been nice to scale some of these factories and buildings on the outskirts of town to find little secrets or something, but the underlying framework is solid.

I especially like how you can get sidequests from just... taking in the world. The fact that not every quest begins with a "!" over someone's head and some only come from listening in on conversations, and waiting around for some seemingly ambient event to resolve, is really refreshing.

If I had to recommend this game to someone, I'd say you really need to turn the lights out, turn the volume up, and really make a conscious effort to absorb the surroundings. If you blast through the main story and fast travel all over the place you're missing like 90% of what has made the game so compelling to me.

FWIW I'm about 70 hours into the game and realistically I'm probably only like... 15-20 hours into the main story, so I've gotten my money's worth.

I took a long break to let some of the patches come out but I'm ready to power through. My current main quest is to board the airship during the parade with Takemura. I already snuck into the warehouse and bugged the ship and have done all the other main quest branches to try and fix the chip in my head, so this is my only path forward right now.

The problem isn't that the genre is bad. It's that most devs are bad at enemy AI. You either end up with something like Outlast where (on the default difficulty) you can always take a hit and run into a crawl space, or you end up with something Amnesia where it's just waiting for fixed patterns to loop so you can find the gap.

Alien: Isolation is like the gold standard for how that style of horror can work, but that's way more effort than most devs are willing or able to put in.

Ehh... a large enough chunk of the SF roster is 30 years old that I don't mind adding new characters. I think it's kind of necessary for long running franchises.

In terms of storyline, Capcom just needs to reboot it. Wipe all the old canon away, design it properly from scratch, and keep whatever plot points still work.
