My understanding was that it's not unusual for there to be tunnels under hospitals there and that this doesn't necessarily make them "terror tunnels." There's a lot of "this is the type of X Hamas uses and the type of Y Hamas uses" without actual evidence of a connection. And this characterization is coming directly from the IDF itself. I could be wrong though because I have no experience with tunnels, terrorism, or hospitals.

Maybe, but it's more evidence in support of the claims, at the very least.

In the last few minutes, the Israeli military has released footage which it says shows a "55m-long terror tunnel, 10m deep underneath the Shifa hospital".

In the video, the entrance to a deep staircase is shown at ground level, among rubble in the al-Shifa complex.

Once at the bottom, troops appear to walk along a well-constructed tunnel shaft that leads to a heavy door.

"This type of door is used by the Hamas terrorist organisation to block Israeli forces from entering the command centres and the underground assets belonging to Hamas," the Israel Defense Forces (DF) say in a statement, adding that investigations "are continuing to uncover the route of the tunnel".

The Israeli forces have claimed for weeks that Hamas has a command and control centre underneath al-Shifa - allegations the group and medical staff at the hospital deny.

Last week, the US said its intelligence similarly suggested Hamas has a network underneath
al-Shifa.

And also evidence that hostages were taken to that hospital:
Daniel Hagari, the IDF spokesperson, shows reporters CCTV footage that he says is from al-Shifa on 7 October - when Hamas attacked Israel.

The IDF spokesperson says it shows two hostages kidnapped from Israel, one of whom is bleeding on his arm, being brought to the hospital.

"We don't know where these hostages are now," he says.

He also shows images he says show an IDF jeep taken from Israel at the hospital, as well as a white pick-up that he says was of the type used by Hamas commandos when they attacked Israel.

"By now the truth is clear - Hamas is waging terror from hospitals," Hagari says.

You can't follow up "it was an inexcusable act" with "and here are all the failures from every else that led us here." Also, since he didn't actually plea not guilty, she doesn't have to actually prove any of these claims. She can just... state them and expect people to take them into consideration.

To the folks asking about the no contest plea, the primary purpose behind the plea is to avoid accepting culpability without disputing the charges. The practical consequence of a no contest plea is that in a civil case arising from the same facts (say the teacher filed a civil lawsuit for battery, etc), the plaintiff (generally) may not bypass the burden of proof by using a guilty plea as an admission of guilt/liability.

So, one possible reason for it is to make it more difficult for the teacher to sue to cover medical costs?

If the purpose of that letter from the mom was meant for us to be more sympathetic, I think it backfired. She had a strong start at the beginning, blaming a combination of her son's disability and his medication, but then we get to the end and she starts to rattle off how everyone else in society is at fault and she just loses me.

It was an open plea. No agreement. Defense attorney was smart enough to know he'd lose at trial so he tried to save some face by moving straight to sentencing.

There's also that weird bit at the end of the article where the defendant claims he hadn't been read the details of the plea, forcing the court to give him time to read it while the defense attorney is standing there saying that he already went over all of this with his client.

I'm not sure when pleading "No Contest" (or "nolo contendere" in Latin) has any function, personally, but I've never had to stand before a judge and make a criminal plea. I usually only see people do this when they're dead to rights anyway but I have no clue what it's supposed to accomplish because they end up getting max or near-max sentences.

I guess it's possible that the defense attorney is aiming for some kind of win in the appeals process and not admitting fault somehow helps. It's also possible, since the attorney represents the client but I don't think they can override the client, the kid is just absolutely refusing to acknowledge guilt and insisted on the no contest plea because the evidence makes it impossible to enter a plea of not guilty.

It was probably a power draw compromise. People expect their phones to last all day while also being very thin which means limited battery life. As onboard processors get more powerful they're going to have to find more and more ways to reduce power consumption, and my completely blind guess on this is that reducing the resolution was probably one way to do that. My second guess would be that they trialed the change with a focus group and found most, if not all, people couldn't tell that the S23 was lower resolution.

As Hall said in one of his videos, he worked two years of overtime on StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty. And the entire game ended up making less money for Blizzard than a single mount in World of Warcraft.

A $15 microtransaction horse made more money than StarCraft 2, Hall said.

It is unclear which mount he referred to specifically, but given the release date of Wings of Liberty (July 27, 2010), this is likely the infamous Celestial Steed aka the Sparkle Pony, which was introduced in April 2010.

The mount, however, cost $25 at launch, not $15, but it definitely caused a stir (and controversy) within the WoW community. Within just three hours of its release, the Celestial Steed generated a 140,000 queue, resulting in revenue of millions of dollars. Not to mention all the money the mount has made since then.

Thats the whole meme, dude, Hall said. Youre wondering why these companies do microtransactions? Because dipshits keep buying all of them.

StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty sold 1.5 million copies in its first two days, surpassing the 6 million mark by the end of 2012. In 2017, Blizzard made WoL free-to-play, and the games lifetime revenue remains undisclosed (as with Celestial Steed).

My guess is it's to get ahead of regulators in the EU, but from a user experience perspective it won't actually change anything:
But at the same time, iMessage isnt going anywhere. It will continue to be the messaging platform used for all communication between iPhone users. RCS will simply supplant SMS and MMS and exist separately from iMessage when available. SMS and MMS will also continue to be available as a fallback when needed, Apple says.

This is not Apple opening up iMessage to other platforms. Instead, its the company adopting RCS separately from iMessage.

Is the animation bad on purpose?

Trigger runs on shoestring budgets. KLK was, IIRC, their first major anime project as a studio after they left Gainax. Before that they had only done short-form anime (that looked like South Park) and OVAs of their Little Witch Academia property. They were maintaining a patreon for a while to try and raise additional funds. So if KLK looks weirdly "budget" at points it's because it is.

Also the entire series was conceptualized based on puns and wordplay:
According to director Imaishi, much of the plot is based on his observation that the Japanese manner of pronouncing "fascism" (, fassho) is nearly the same as the word "fashion" (, fasshon), his observation that the pronunciation of the Japanese words "school uniform" (, seifuku) and "conquest" (, seifuku) are identical, and that the titular kiru may mean "kill" (), "to cut" (), or "to wear" ().[9]

this revisionist crap has to stop lol

with skyrim, F3, Oblivion, and Morrowind this was never the case.

Iunno about F4 since I wasn't really gaming around that point in my life

What? Everybody hated oblivion's level scaling out of the gate. Skyrim was more well received but both of them had game breaking bugs at launch. Morrowind wasn't nearly as bad, but now we're talking about Bethesda from 2002, literally more than two decades ago.

Edit: and that's ignoring the fact that Bethesda games have consistently had issues for decades now in certain categories that people just accept at this points. The hideous character models with the dead-eyed stares, using the same engine for so long that in order to make trains work they just made a giant train sized hat for an NPC to wear who runs along the track. The fact that exploits from three games ago are still usable in starfield because they never stopped using bad practices like having vendor bags just below the floor that you can get to because they didn't even bother to push it all the way under.

Revisionist history is pretending like Bethesda would even still be around if it wasn't for the massive mod community that keeps their janky games running for a decade after they are released.

Updates from the BBC live feed:
US says intelligence shows Hamas has base under Al-Shifa

US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby says the US has intelligence that Hamas has a command centre under Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City.

Kirby told reporters the intelligence shows that "Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad use some hospitals in the Gaza Strip, including Al-Shifa, and tunnels underneath them to conceal and support their military operations and to hold hostages".

He said the groups have stored weapons under Al-Shifa and are "prepared to respond to an Israeli military operation against that facility".

Kirby added: "We do not support striking a hospital from the air and we do not want to see a firefight in the hospital where innocent people, helpless people, sick people are simply trying to get the medical care that they deserve, not to be caught in a crossfire. Hospitals and patients must be protected.

He said this points out how "challenging the military operation is. Hamas has deeply embedded itself within the civilian population. Israel has now an added burden given the way Hamas operates".

Finally, Kirby said that Hamass actions "do not lessen Israels responsibilities to protect civilians in Gaza" - and stated that the US is maintaining "active conversation" with the Israeli government about that.

The Israel Defense Force's chief spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari set high expectations, promising his briefing would expose to the world that Hamas uses hospitals as an instrument of war.

The BBC has no way of verifying the claims made this evening.

Hagari showed himself in one video pointing to what he called a covert terror tunnel which reached 20m below ground.

He said an electrical panel and protruding cables proved solar panels had been powering a bunker and this was being explored further by an Israeli military robot. There was no further evidence presented for the existence of a command centre but Hagari said investigations continued.

Attention then shifted to the inside of the Rantisi hospital, which Hagari explained was a basement that was disconnected from the rest of the complex and had been used as an armoury.

In another room, a piece of rope next to a chair leg was highlighted as proof that hostages had been held here along with the existence of a poorly plumbed toilet.

In one of the final videos, Hagari drew back curtains to reveal a wall with no windows. He said this would have been intended to conceal the true location of the building in any films that Hamas would want to make.

A neat, makeshift calendar on the wall was said to bear the name that Hamas gave their 7 October attacks and the ensuing days had been ticked off.

Hagari said there were already enough signs to show that Hamas - and hostages had been in the hospital and that more investigations
were under way.

During the press conference, Israeli military spokesperson Daniel Hagari also said he had been to Gaza, to Rantisi children's hospital himself, and filmed what he described as "concrete evidence" that "Hamas uses hospitals as an instrument of war".

He said that in the basement under the Rantisi hospital, Israeli troops found "a Hamas command and control centre" where there were "suicide bomb vests, grenades, AK47 assault rifles, explosive devices, RPGs and other weapons, computers and money".

Hagari showed video of what he said was the entrance to a tunnel that was next to both a school and the hospital, with an electrical panel he said connected solar panels with wires that went down into the tunnel.

Video footage showed a deep shaft with a ladder down the side. "It's nothing else but a terror tunnel," Hagari told reporters.

As can be seen from Table 1, in 1967, most voters voted for commonwealth status and almost 40% supported joining the US as a state. By 2020, the situation had changed significantly. It is also worth noting that the frequency of nationwide voting has grown. If 26 years have passed between the first and second referendum, then only 5 years have passed between the second and third and only 3 years between the penultimate and the last, which proves the relevance of the issue.

They've certainly outdone themselves in terms of aggressive monetization. The only thing keeping MK1 from being front page gaming news for how shitty their DLC is would be the fact that Diablo 4 is over there charging $70 for horse armor again.

Edit: fighting games are already pretty aggressively monetized, but up until now you could expect that an entire new character would cost between $5 and 10. Charging more than that for a single finishing move is insane.

I wasn't aware Konami has a reputation for aggressive DLC

Modern Konami is constantly experimenting with weird monetization schemes. They did some free to play mobile game castlevania with like level DLC. They did nft's. And then of course there's all the pachinko machines.

It's less that they're known specifically for aggressive DLC and more that I don't trust them to not try and squeeze every dollar out of silent Hill right now.

I'll be curious to see how this turns out, but I hope they realize what makes the souls games work isn't that they take away all of the guides and quest aids, but because you're dropped into a carefully handcrafted world that is explicitly designed to tell a story and guide the player towards where they need to go organically.

If they make some giant procedurally generated world with random bandit camps and a couple of random cities in it, taking away the quest marker isn't going to do what they think it will.

Guys, this is Konami. I'm more likely to believe they removed the description because they carved that part out to be dlc, not that Best Buy got it wrong.

Frieza is way beyond anyone right now. Except for Beerus probably, who would bitch slap him because no one is allowed to be near him in terms of total power ever.

Beerus is a chump compared to Whiz. He doesn't even have ultra instinct mastered like Goku does.

And whiz is probably a chump compared to the head angel.

And super introduced the idea that Goku's universe is one of the weakest out of all of them.

Super basically laid out enough runway for Goku and Vegeta to get stronger consistently for like the next 30 years.

Lol turbo?

https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/turbo-virgin
Turbo Virgin refers to a reaction image featuring the character from the Japanese anime comedy series My Girlfriend is a Gal (Japanese translation: ), also known as Hajimete no Gal. In the image, the character Junichi Hashiba says, "You might have tricked a normal virgin, but I'm a turbo virgin with zero confidence," a misquote from the series. Online, people use the image to ironically express feelings of sexual or romantic inadequacy.

The actual quote:
"A normal virgin would have fall into your trap, but I'm a virgin with no self-confidence at all"

I feel like both would generally take down the criminal, detain them, and then call the cops to report their location before moving on. SOMEONE is taking them down from where they're suspended and taking them to jail.
