pretty stupid, the times she's been popular have also been when the president she's married to or serving under is popular

My issue is the sexism angle is designed to completely divorce her from responsibility for the fact that she just has a shitty personality. "Oh, it's not that she's a selfish egomaniac without a shred of compassion who panders to anyone the moment it will benefit her... it's because she's a woman". She was "popular" when she was out of the spotlight, and unpopular when she was in it. That has more to do with the fact that when in the spotlight she has more opportunity to be a shitty person in public than it does her gender.

The reasoning is because it imbues you with power. An offended person MUST be right because why else would they be offended? The person doing the "offending" is automatically the bad guy, because they're (actively or passively) harming another through their words and actions. It lets you claim victim status and go on the attack at the same time, and hordes of people will line up to defend your "right" to not be offended over whatever stands in your way.

Laws are being written to force people like me into men's bathrooms. Yes, force. Glad to see you are team trans-rights.

We both know that's not true. The government is not forcing you to go into ANY bathroom. There's a difference between restricting something and forcing something. For what it's worth I completely agree you should be able to use whatever bathroom you want, but don't confuse that issue with the one here (the surgery one).

Texas and North Carolina say otherwise.

And I am only bringing it up because I constantly think about the bathroom issue every single day because I am directly effected by it. So when I see my argument fit, I throw it in. Saying no one should be forced works both ways. If a doctor shouldn't be forced to save my life, I shouldn't be forced to use the men's bathroom.... you know, if we live in a country no one at all is to be forced into doing something.

But again, you're confusing compelling action with restricting it. Government can't force a doctor to perform surgery if he doesn't want to. Telling someone "this is where you pee" isn't forcing you to pee there, because there are options like going home, or using a unisex bathroom. They are two completely different classes of issues.

Maybe, and that's wrong. He shouldn't be protected, but we're now talking about a hypothetical doctor in a hypothetically unrealistic situation in a hypothetical deep south state winning a hypothetical lawsuit. I don't think that changes my position on government being unable to force someone to do something against their will.

In certain situations, I agree. In situations of life and death, they should be forced or forcefully removed from the job.

Let's be honest too with another scenario. If we made it a situation where it was a middle eastern man who refused to work on a white, Christian man based on his religious beliefs, those same people stating "religious freedom!" would be calling to get that doctor expelled too. (And he should be because he made a commitment being a doctor in our country)

With Christian extremists, it is a one-way battle. Always has been. Always will be.

The fact that Christian extremists may say something isn't a basis for good law, though. I'm fine with "forcefully removed" since they failed to uphold their half of their contract with whatever hospital they're working for. It's the "forced to do the job" part I take issue with. I can think of a thousand examples of where a right-leaning government would use that same rule to force a liberal person to do all sorts of things they don't agree with. Giving the government the ability to compel action may SEEM like the right thing in this scenario, but only because you're not considering how the other side would use that same power given the opportunity.

I mean it sounds horrible, but this is where things get complicated. In no other instance can you FORCE someone to do work, and do their best work, for something they don't believe in. We would all expect the doctor to get fired for refusing service, but name another example where the government compels using law this exact same hypothetical scenario. It's his education, his choice, and he is not owed pay for his skill, but neither does he owe others his talent and time.

I never said that surgeon was a good guy. I never said he didn't violate his oath. I never said he should be able to keep his job for refusing to do the surgery. Did you even read what I said?

If they cannot follow the basic tenant of the oath they take before even finishing school, they should not be in that line of work and should be fired for their inaction.

I completely agree they should be fired. I said so in that block you quoted. I also think government can't force them to do the surgery. Both of those things can coexist.

Is a person free to use their skill when they want to, or can governments compel people to do certain tasks against their will? That's a big fucking question.

The thing is, sometimes, death is a real issue and something that can be avoided. If you cannot commit to protecting lives, why take the job? Clearly, not all lives are worth it to that person.

Just imagine being in this state. You, with whatever skin tone you have.... and the only doctor around is seriously someone who refuses to work on you because you are.... I dunno, white, black, male, female.... whatever. You can't force someone to eat a salad. You can't force someone to drown a puppy. As a doctor, you have an obligation to protect and save lives.

Picking and choosing who to save is terrible. Imagine if all surgeons in this nation said they will never operate on a black person under any means. Hey, our nation supports that now, right?

You can't force people in certain situations but if you are going to be a doctor, you better be willing to. Otherwise, you should never, ever be one.

I completely agree, which is why I said the fictional doctor in this scenario would and should be fired.

Granted, they're all from July, but it's an ongoing case, for some reason.

It comes down to whether an independent business has the right to refuse service on any grounds. The Bakery in question is run by a husband/wife pair that doesn't support gay marriage. They believe they have the right to refuse service on the grounds that it would force them to support something they don't believe in. Some members of the right also argue it's a form of forced labor because the government will be telling a business that they have to do work they don't want to take under threat of legal punishment. Obviously the counter-argument is that not discriminating is part of the contract businesses sign when they become a business.

It SEEMS like a clear-cut thing, but the reason the case is ongoing is because it asks a much deeper question about the intersection of personal religious beliefs and government. For example, if they advertised themselves as a Christian Bakery, would they be allowed to refuse gay services?

JJ is a great director, but he has yet to direct a movie from an existing franchise that wasn't completely "safe." Give him an original IP or a license he gets to run from the ground-up and it's great. But dump him into an established series and he seems to just crumble under pressure and do whatever results in the least boat-rocking.

It won't be complex. It'll be like Star Trek: Into Darkness where it's the exact same thing but with a major scene swapped for the sake of a twist.

So at this point is there near a 100% possibility that Equifax is the new Enron and goes down hard over this? Especially since the Equifax top brass sold a ton of their stock after learning about the leak but before announcing it.

Why do SJW have to tamper with everything?

Because they're into social engineering. Their basic tenet is that the only way to eliminate racism, sexism, ____-ism is to indoctrinate children as soon as possible. Since they can't point to racist laws or organizations, their argument is basically that people are all subconsciously biased, and only through constant reprogramming can you turn society into an ism-free one. Since adults are resistant to that, and studies are starting to show that "implicit bias training" does literally nothing, the only area left is children's shows.

I actually think in 2020 we're going to get some surprise candidates. It'll probably be very much like the Republican primary this past election where everyone and their mom thinks that this will be the easiest election in their lifetime to win, so you get a ton of underqualified people and at least 1 celebrity.

Yep, still plenty of future dollars to siphon from the country.

More like she's going to dedicate the rest of her life to paving the way for Chelsea to take her place.
