I'll take it a step further and say that the only free degrees should be based on supply and demand, and would extend to blue collar and trade positions. STEM is in demand now, but it might not be forever, and electricians/plumbers/etc are ALSO in high demand.

If we're going to give away higher education, it should be based on the best ROI for society, which means targeting the jobs that we most need in the moment. Yes, that means that if there's a shortage of history teachers it might go to a liberal arts degree, but it would also force every degree to have to show their math in terms of what benefit they bring to society by having more of them.

This is what happens when you weaponize outrage. Nobody ever thinks their own weapon will be used against them. Gunn absolutely doesn't deserve to be fired, but neither did Roseanne, and a whole host of other people that have had their social media histories used against them. But these are the rules now. People were fine with this sort of mob mentality when it was against targets that they approved of, but now that it's starting to be used against them, all the sudden we need to be forgiving and understanding and just let these events slide. Pandora's Box has been opened, I suspect things aren't going to change anytime soon.

Gunn made those posts when he was 40. Nobody should buy the "he's grown" bullshit. Either this kind of thing is acceptable, or it's not, and that needs to apply evenly to everyone.

This, basically. For most of the Jewish people's history they have been under the rule of one Empire after another. In some cases that meant they had fewer rights, while in other cases it meant they literally couldn't own land. The result is, to survive they learned the value of dealing in currency and chose to charge interest at a time when other religions were explicitly barring it. This is both where the Jewish Banker meme, as well as a lot of animosity comes from. People have used their charging interest as justification for a lot of things, cuz they saw it as exploitive.

Jews are also historically one of the earliest people to actively encouraged literacy. For many nations, teaching the common people to read was seen like a recipe for disaster, but since the Jews never had a nations, they didn't have to worry about the common people rising up against them. This, combined with the banking, resulted in a small group of Highly Educated people who were good with finances build to survive when one Empire would inevitably be replaced by another.

They have also been pretty famously difficult to convert, so for many empires trying to force everyone under one religion they were seen like a general problem group. Of course, since they didn't actively try to convert anybody else, they also never really had good justification to punish them for it. So they tended to make stuff up.

That's kind of weird to have such a high pass rate but such a low test score average. That's kinda common in religious schools in my area too.

Like I said earlier, all signs point to this being a boarding school for violent boys. That's also why they put such a high emphasis on attendance, and why graduation is so high but no mention of colleges. It also explains the high teacher turnover rate. They're just trying to get these kids the minimum standard required so they can get some kind of job without getting into trouble.
