As someone who's only played MGS3 to see BB, he and Snake are virtually identical to me. I guess I remember him being a little more joking than Snake, but that seemed more reflective of the time the game was released to me.

I think it can be argued that failing in the technology department is partly why they're the most successful branch. If you're going to order online, why not use the big companies? DM's strength was that they were more personal.

The original episode has him finding his dog's fossil. The Professor says they can bring Seymour back to life, but in the process, they learn that he lived for many, many years after Fry disappeared. Fry stops the process, believing that Seymour happily lived his life without him. Then the gut-wrenching ending is that Seymour never stopped waiting for Fry to come home. The last you see of him is an elderly Seymour tiredly laying down, presumably dying and still waiting on Fry to come home.

When Takada called him, he realized she had to be killed to keep Kira safe, so he broke his routine and went to the bank for the second day in a row to write her name down. Until this break in his routine, Near didn't know that Mikami had hidden his real Note in the bank and left a fake for Near to find.

If Mello hadn't kidnapped Takada, Mikami would have written everyone's name down in the real Death Note, they'd have died, and Light would have won.

Was Near figuring out Teru has the notebook done better in the manga? This might be the number 1 non-supernatural asspull besides perfectly replicating a death note.

I really disliked that when I first watched, but I've come around to it making sense. Light and Near essentially did the same thing: they watched a bunch of Kira media and then figured out who the best candidate for a third Kira would be. It definitely could have been portrayed better because Near just kinda looks like he watches one interview and decides, but I think there's a few seconds where it shows a shitload of tapes. They just don't emphasize that he's watched hours of footage the way they should have.

The alternative, that Light himself sent directions to the same TV station that the Japanese police and Light's L taskforce have directly cooperated with and ordered before, might actually be stupider. Because that casts even more suspicion on Light.

That's almost certainly how it happened though. There's one point where Light is angry that Demegawa is acting on his own, indicating he'd been giving him instructions before. Upcoming spoilers: He also immediately seeks to replace him as "the Voice of Kira" which indicates this is a position Light finds important, not just something Demegawa made up that he took advantage of.

Light and Misa aren't under the hardcore suspicion they once were. It wouldn't be at all difficult to discretely get a message to Demegawa.

I mean, it also just doesn't make sense. If it were that toxic, people wouldn't be selling it. Drug dealers make money off repeat customers, not ones who buy a single dose of fentanyl and then fuckin' die. That's not to mention that dealers themselves would be dropping like flies if just touching it triggered an overdose. It's not like street dealers are maintaining strict hospital standards.
