The original episode has him finding his dog's fossil. The Professor says they can bring Seymour back to life, but in the process, they learn that he lived for many, many years after Fry disappeared. Fry stops the process, believing that Seymour happily lived his life without him. Then the gut-wrenching ending is that Seymour never stopped waiting for Fry to come home. The last you see of him is an elderly Seymour tiredly laying down, presumably dying and still waiting on Fry to come home.

Does that count as a retcon in this case? Wasn't that revealed in the same arc? Related to that, has there been any follow up to the revelation that Beerus ordered the destruction of the planet?
I know it was kind of a throwaway line in one of the movies, but I never watched all of Super or read the manga afterwards.

Think it was brought up in super as well

I didn't personally like the changes super made to that story arc.

I can see your interpretation though. You could very well be right. If someone were asked about it today, I'm sure your interpretation is the one they'd go with.

Strongly disagree, Fate Stay Night feels really empty because they stripped away all the porn.

Fate Zero is fine but that was never porn in the first place. I think most of the other material is bad however, so I could see graphic sex improving them.

DMC 2 being retconed to take place before 4 instead of after it is actually an 11/10 retcon
It explains why Dante acts the way he does in 2. He thought that with Virgil dead after 1, he was all alone. Also, if you notice,at the beginning of 4 he acts similar to how he acted in 2. It isn't until he fights Nero that he becomes his old cocky self. Seeing Nero made him realize that he had more family, and it snapped him out of his depression

I actually really enjoyed V introducing Venom into the mix. Him being the one you fight in MG1's Outer Heaven makes a lot more sense than Big Boss somehow surviving getting blasted apart by a rocket launcher.

I've argued this point to so many people. They like to bring up you can beat other bosses with a rocket launcher in the series but that's optional. You have to in mg1 which makes it canon

I think it was mentioned in the manga as well, but then again they were shoving beerus everywhere into past events then. All for the worse in my opinion.

I think Venom makes Big Boss out to be an absolute pussy in the events between Peace Walker and MG1 and destroys the entire betrayal of feelings that Solid Snake is meant to have in MG1 about Big Boss. I think it cheapens the modern arc of the franchise considerably and worse off, they dont actually do anything interesting with the time you play as Venom given what Big Boss was supposedly actually doing between MGS3 and MG1. I disregard Venom from canon wholesale, and I couldnt care less about whether or not its realistic that a boss in a MSX game with no plans for a sequel ever was fought with a rocket launcher

Opinions. To me he felt like he had more personality. Even if after 3 the comedic side of him got regulated to cassettes.

Some of my favorites include his codec call to Sigint about how cardboard boxes make hin feel safe. And in PW where the cardboard tank is introduced by R&D and Miller thinks it's stupid but big boss is absolutely excited about it cause its cardboard.

Think he managed to have at least one funny line in V where he jokingly said somethint about seending huey to ocelot to talk about something. Huey freaks out a little venom chuckles and they is all "not funny man"

As someone who's only played MGS3 to see BB, he and Snake are virtually identical to me. I guess I remember him being a little more joking than Snake, but that seemed more reflective of the time the game was released to me.

Yeah when they are serious they are about the same. But 3 is choc full of him saying stupid shit. Like talking about eating his own shit just to gross out para medic.

Mgs 3 to ps4 to gz/tpp you see him descend from a jovial guy who finds time to crack jokes during a mission to only cracking them when not on a mission to the cold callous guy we got in GZ/tpp who afaik only makes one joke and it was a mean spirited one

Alan Moore retconned the entire origin story of Swamp Thing in The Anatomy Lesson. Im not sure that it's strictly better than the original, but it's still a really great twist and one of the very few "well akshully" twists I like

Man I went a long ass time knowing about swamp thing (even had a toy as a kid and recall a movie or something) and not knowing he was a DC character.

Then again I had a Mr sinister toy and just thought it was a generic Dracula rip off

I heard a rumor (possible DP3 spoilers) that Deadpool 3 is going to be Deadpool basically retconning himself into MCU events to some degree.

not sure how accurate it is but I am kind of intrigued as to how it would turn out because I think it would be pretty awesome for him to do it.
