Trying the 7 day free trial and being able to play older games like RDR1 and MGR, as well as some newer games like Nier Automata, feels awesome. I have a decent connection so the streaming is perfect.

Is this a good decision, CE? It's 60 dollars a year.

Eh, it's alright. Pre-PS4 stuff can only be streamed - which isn't very reliable - and there's not a great selection of older stuff either.

Yeah, when it first came out the selection was trash, but they've expanded on it pretty well imo.

It's ok if you can afford it and you have a good connection, and if you use it. You know, subscriptions have a way of falling into disuse but you keep getting charged. I cut a couple of subscription services lately that I should have cancelled a long time ago.

The streaming is absolutely buttery smooth.

The first time I tried it, I had so many things issues and even had to wait in a queue. Now it's just smooth and perfect, I love it.

Yea, PSNow isn't bad. It's also really cool if you don't have a PS4. I was able to play Bloodborne and Spiderman because of it.

I bought a year last August and regretted it. Most of the big monthly games came to PS+ a couple of months later, so it was completely redundant if you also have that service. The only real value is in the PS3 games, but there is still a bit of lag so it's not the ideal way to play them and honestly there weren't a ton I was interested in. The last few months have been good, and I'm glad I get to try Ghostrunner before my subscription runs out, but I don't ever see myself coming back.

Edit: Another thing that annoyed me is that a lot of games, like The Last of Us, have a streamable PS3 version but not the remastered PS4 version. And more recently, only the PS4 version of a game is available when both PS4 and PS5 versions exist. So you constantly feel like you're getting an inferior experience. And this is just a personal thing but I always feel some sort of pressure to finish a game faster when I know a game is like, leaving in a few weeks that makes the experience less enjoyable.

What I liked is last place I lived it was nice enough to tell me my connection was too trash to use the service before even activating the free trial. So when I moved I still got to use the free trial

That all seems fair. Though, I haven't cared a lot about the whole next gen version stuff as of recent. With PS3 to PS4, sure, but...eh, the graphical leaps are never as impressive anymore. Unless there's extra content, I lose nothing, really.

You can get a year's subscription for cheaper on ebay than buying it on the PS4 store.

Oh crap what? So if someone wanted to play the old god of war games on any ps3/ps2 games, it has to be streamed? They can't download it for offline playing?

Need to know, I was also thinking of using up my one week free trial before this tidbit.

The old God of War games (GoW 1-3, CoO, GoS, Ascension) that they have on the service are the remastered PS3 versions, and all the PS3 games they have on there must be streamed (cannot be downloaded and used offline at all).

I've been wondering if it'd be better to get this subscription or to just buy a PS3.

Don't know where the hell I'd find one though. eBay seems a bit overpriced.

Game Pass sounds like a better deal for anyone with an Xbox or a good gaming PC.

PS Now does have potential if Sony improves their service and adds more games. imagine day one releases on there...
