Yeah, I fucking hate the winter (in Scotland). When it's dark and cold, I don't want to get up in the morning. Ice and snow cause havoc, making it potentially dangerous outside and making more work for you. You need to wear more clothes that restrict you and stop you from doing a lot of things. You end up being stuck inside more, which I hate. In the summer, I love just getting up, throwing on a t-shirt and going out into the sun (if we get any lol).

Also, I had a lung infection that became (double) pneumonia last winter, and ended up in ICU for nearly a month. It was pretty bad and I'm lucky to be alive really.

There is a blessing in that we don't really get extremes of weather here in the UK (e.g. Arctic/Antarctic levels of cold, hurricanes, etc.). Floods are about the worst we get.

Fondest memories: Getting a Mega Drive for Christmas, seeing/playing Metal Gear Solid for the first time (this trailer blew my mind:
), playing the classic Resident Evil games (particularly the original with its cheesy voice acting and memorable live action intro), playing Pokemon R/B / going to GameFAQs for the first time (and other sites) looking for secrets/glitches/etc. (and 'Pokemon fever' in general), playing Diablo II co-op with friends, etc.

Some VG tunes from that era really bring back memories:

Super Mario World - World Map 2:

Resi 2 - Police Station:

Resi 2 - Save Room Theme:

Resi 3 - Save Room Theme:

Metal Gear Solid - Warhead Storage:

Greatest franchise(s): Metroid/Zelda/Mario (particularly the first for me), Deus Ex, Metal Gear, Mega Man, Resident Evil, Final Fantasy and many more

Most memorable scenes: FFV Galuf vs. Exdeath, FFVI Kefka on the floating continent, FFVII Aeris, FFVIII Garden battle, Metal Gear Solid Miller = Liquid

BTW, I'm currently playing this little cyberpunk text adventure game: http://www.nagnazul.com/whyirun/whyirun.html

I'm not sure how you took that from my post.

As I said, if they can organize and hit YouTube where it hurts, great. I'm just not sure if that would technically be unionization, given the fact that they're not employed by YouTube. It's quite a unique situation.

Also, I have nothing but disdain for companies that claim workers are "self-employed" to avoid certain costs (like employee benefits), e.g. Uber. Now, maybe a solution in this instance could be to give streamers an 'employed' status and the rights that would entail (I'm not sure what that would mean for unionization). I don't know if that would fly given the power that YouTube/Google have and the nature of the job that streamers do (i.e. the flexibility in terms of hours, earnings, etc.).

I fully support their ability to make money from what they do. If they can do that, more power to them.

I'm also pro-union, but I don't think unionization is appropriate here, as YouTube/Google don't provide a workplace, work benefits or even technically a wage or work hours.

I suppose in theory it could be done unofficially, i.e. they get together and 'strike' in sufficient numbers to harm YT (although I'm not sure how feasible that is given their size). They'd be well within their rights to do that since they're not contracted or anything.

Love the attention to detail in the quests, characters, world, etc. Especially the quests.

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Beyond_the_Beef
http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Bye_Bye_Love (fail states!)
http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/How_Little_We_Know

And the characters!

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Caesar
http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Robert_House

The real world parallels are pretty awesome, with Julius Caesar and Howard Hughes. E.g. "the historical Caesar actually suffered from a condition similar to the one depicted in-game. He had headaches, blackouts, and sometimes even seizures." Also see the first two pictures in the Gallery in the House article.

There are many great lines of dialogue in the game too.

I think games like this are at their best when you're talking to NPCs, questing and immersing yourself in the story and world honestly. The combat is alright, but a secondary consideration.

I'm on the fence, but probably leaning towards the latter.

Mercury Steam have a questionable track record (and Nintendo too recently with the Metroid series).

I'm not feeling the music in Returns either.

vs.

Or the graphics.

The positives are: budget and the ability to do something different (e.g. with the new engine).
TopicI prefer video games without voice acting.

I does have its advantages for dialogue-heavy games at least, because voice acting generally means less in-depth dialogue due to the added expense of voicing it (except perhaps in the very biggest budget games). It also allows you to use your imagination a bit more, e.g. to imagine how someone sounds. Although some text-heavy games have a *bit* of voiced dialogue (e.g. Morrowind).

Voice acting can be poor, but I think that's a bit less of an issue nowadays, except maybe in certain Japanese games.

T.R.AG.: Mission of Mercy I played a fair bit.

I beat Die Hard: Vendetta a few times on the GameCube. Die Hard Trilogy on the PS1 too if that counts.

What about Gunman Chronicles (PC)? I personally think that was pretty good though. GUN too was alright.

On the Mega Drive, I played Eternal Champions and Galahad loads.

I never felt like it actually made the game that much harder. I used to have a couple save files, and one of them had Squall at level 100 at the end of disc 1, with everyone else at level 50. Edea at the end of disc 1 was a piece of cake, because even if enemies might gain levels with you, they have a limit to how far they can go.

It doesn't make a huge difference if you don't go out of your way to level up.

However, it's pretty easy to level up a lot if you go down that route, such as if you grind on the T-Rexaurs in B. Garden. I know a lot of first time players have fallen into that trap.

It's such an unbalanced game, but I love it for some reason. Min-maxing is pretty fun, with the GF and refinement systems. The story and characters are a bit shit, but the world / its backstory are interesting, the soundtrack is fantastic, some of the "set-pieces" are intense (e.g. the garden battle), etc.

I think it's still a good game despite the flaws, personally. Most other FF games are better though, particularly 6, 7 and 9.

Where is the right of the victim who was robbed, raped and murdered?

Well, if you start to pick and choose who these rights apply to, then they cease to be rights and you end up with a situation where even the good people can be denied their rights. It also opens up the possibility of decisions being challenged when you don't do things properly (e.g. the guy in Canada that got a large payoff).

I don't really disagree with the claim in the OP though, unless there are clear human rights issues.

I think it is because some people, for whatever reason, refuse to play games on handheld consoles, and 90% of JRPGs worth playing release on handheld now because they don't want to spend the budget developing for home console. They know their fan base cares more about the mechanics than the presentation, so why try to compete on the console market where your game will be written off if it doesn't have great presentation.

I don't mind playing JRPGs on handhelds too much. Quite a few are on the PSP and Vita though, while I typically go with Nintendo handhelds.

That said, I ultimately prefer big(ish) budget console JRPGs. It's not just about graphics, although good ones are certainly nice to have, but scale, story/characters/writing and the ability to push the envelope a bit more than those with tighter budgets.

It's also about IPs from companies with bigger budgets that have been sidelined (Suikoden, Skies of Arcadia), have gone in the action-oriented direction (Final Fantasy) or just don't seem to have as much effort put into them nowadays.

On going back to older turn-based games (that I haven't played preferably), as Terra mentioned, that is one of the only choices that's open, so I do just that. It would be nice to have more new, AAA turn-based JRPGs that really capture the imagination though.
