What was more stupid is how only TWO summons had the mug skill. I remember when i first played that game i was using the same fucking weapons they had from the start because i never got the items needed.

Regrettably all the gameplay in that game was stupid.
Maybe I just didn't get it, but when I played it in middle school and didn't check the internet for everything, I didn't know that leveling up made the game more difficult - that was counter to every other game that had come out before it and most games that have come since.

It's such an unbalanced game, but I love it for some reason. Min-maxing is pretty fun, with the GF and refinement systems. The story and characters are a bit shit, but the world / its backstory are interesting, the soundtrack is fantastic, some of the "set-pieces" are intense (e.g. the garden battle), etc.

I think it's still a good game despite the flaws, personally. Most other FF games are better though, particularly 6, 7 and 9.

The thing about enemies leveling with you is that they end up having strong magic to draw so you still get to be stronger than them even at the same level.

It doesn't make a huge difference if you don't go out of your way to level up.

However, it's pretty easy to level up a lot if you go down that route, such as if you grind on the T-Rexaurs in B. Garden. I know a lot of first time players have fallen into that trap.

The system is so much more refreshing than other ffs. Easy to break yet the hardest one if you desire. Love being able to abuse anything. Better than any other RPG system

What I hated was the draw system and how worthless 99% of the spells were as actions when you could just spam limit breaks.

The spells were great for junctioning for nice stats, but the stats dropped whenever you used the spells. Only fix was to jog all the way back to certain draw points and refill your supply. It actually discouraged versatile play despite having so much magic available.

And Triple Triad is the best minigame in gaming history.

Remove monsters leveling up with you and it'd be fine.
Take away aura and at least you have to risk getting easily one shotted for the limit breaks.

I know the gameplay is out of whack and that the plot is basically star wars, but it's fun to replay

Should have played the card game or turned monsters into cards. You can make all materials with cards.

you never have to do that
you play the card game and get your spells through that

and the max spells you can get from a single draw is 9

Manipulating rules is easy as shit. Don't spread Random and you don't have to deal with it. Even so, one minor flaw doesn't negate the minigame's overall greatness. Literally the best minigame ever.

max level 100 is stupid when you have lvl 5 death around. max your level and you will be vulnerable to a deadly spell. with maximum lvl 99 you will be immune to spells like lvl 5 death or lvl 4 suicide.
