I legitimately think i should.

Like objectively the world would be better off with me giving up. Like for sure.

I won't do it, but objectively I totally should. What else do I have to offer? This dying old man can curse the skies but so can anybody.

I should end it all. (I won't gamefaqs) but I should.

Even those who love me would be happier in the long run getting over my loss than watching years and years of a life, joyless and unlived.

I really should not exist.

I will keep on living (hi gamefaqs)

But really my life serves no purpose.

That's really sad to hear TC, but you aren't giving yourself credit. A lot of people talk about "moving across the country" or "finishing school", kudos to you for getting that done!

Thanks.

I can be as real as anybody. Here's the deal: I'm ok as a person, I've pushed through some of the worst self hate a person can have. I don't hate myself, I want to be happy, and I'm ok at my core, but... I can't feel it, if I want to I can't... I try but I can't. I am not the worst person, I'm far too cautious to be the worst. I am too cautious to feel anything.

I want to be ok but I truly can't. I truly can't feel anything. Really. think about what it feels like feeling happy and imagine a world without that, that is my life, I can't feel that, even when I want to.

I'm not going to kill myself ('ello gamefaqs) but honestly, what am I doing by continuing to exist? They should just grieve my loss now. Because honestly I tried so fucking hard, and it isn't getting better.

There isn't enough caps lock or bold that can make how fucking hard I tried feel real but really.

I TRIED SO FUCKING HARD TO BE HAPPY

I miss the point where I thought that my misery was wrong no I think it's life.

Holy shit its joe numbers. Serious question...whats have you tried to do to better yourself? Youve made topics like this for over a decade and thats really sad.

I've been seeing therapists for years. I made myself go even when I don't want to. Honeslty the biggest thing I've done is not given up hope, I have pushed myself to try even when I haven't gotten anything out of it. I drove across country in a car that was dying in 2016 to get to california because I thought if I pushed myself to a place like that I could find a good job and get happy. I am now enrolled in a self-help program and have not missed a day for 4.5 months (until yesterday). I gave up drinking several times for months and then a year and a half. I went back to college and finished it. I have been super shamefully open about my problems to many people many times.

A big issue is that when I try to soldier through, people mistake that for me being ok, and indeed if I am on the right medication cocktail I will just let months of life drift by with nothing happening. When it was clear how bad I was, at like 22 or something I should have just been checked into a around the lock intensive help program until I was better, now, I really really think its too late.

The general opinion right now seems to be get them taken out of power and expose their bullshit so they dont create more victims. Seems pretty fair.

And what should happen to them? You are removing all context and redfining people who have decade long careers and lives containing acts of great deceny as victim creators and nothing more. Do you allow and possible penance or sufficient punishment or does a single act of sexual misconduct forfeit thier human card?

it usually isn't just a single act

But that isn't a response to what should happen if it was. To respond to questions about what is appropriate for X with ""well often it is Y" is just willfully ignoring the question. The question is what is fair? Given some circumstance is there a punishment that would be fair? Do men who behave inappropriately sexually deserve to have no careers and be treated like they have never done anything positive in their life?

Garrison Keeler's entire long career was removed from MPR's servers and it is as if none of it ever existed. Is this really appropriate? What about all the other people involved in those programs?

I am not saying there is nothing that should be done with these people but it is troubling that we are not having a discussion about what is and is not appropriate to be done.

Many people have successful careers and openly admit to crimes in their past. As a culture we have a system for what is a fair punishment for crimes, but when it comes to this sexual misconduct stuff it seems like the protocol is "treat them as a pariah that never contributed a positive thing to society, regardless of magnitude of their transgressions".

Can't we have a more nuanced and objective discussion about it? This mob justice seems flawed because there does not seem to be a clear sense of what "justice" is.

This standing order of "infinity punishments, pretend they never did anything positive" is clearly not objective. Too often we villianize those who try to contextually discuss these things in measured ways, and I really hope to see more measured discussion soon.

This.

It happened 30 years ago and didn't end up as a rape.

I find it hard to be outraged. It's not a good thing that happened but I quite frankly don't really care unless you find me evidence he didn't stop behavior like this.

I save my outrage. Being angry over everything all the time just makes you miserable. I save it for things that affect me personally or are more malicious.

There has been a trend I've seen in the past few years that I call "Shamedenfreude" (Schadenfreude+shaming). It's where people seem to really get off on hating somebody and wishing their life ruined and them infinitely shamed the mere instant a story breaks. Having standards for what people don't approve of is one thing but the getting off on mob shaming somebody clearly isn't healthy for anybody.

Very few things would I ever recommend skipping.

Ok, finished the 2 parter or whatever:

So guyname chick is awful, and Yeoh never got better at acting, she never sounded like her line readings were organic.

Also, Pro-tip: If you want somebody's death to be a shock, don't put their actress's name in the credits under "special guest star"

Final point: I don't at all buy that it was at all a fair fight between 2 uber-warrior klingons and these 2 women. I know gurl power and all that but the ONLY way these women would out fight these BEASTLY KLINGON WARRIORS if they had like mad physical combat skills, like amazing dodges and maneuvering, but if you watch the pretty much exchange punches and hits as if they are equals, with the powerpuff girls not doing anything to excuse why they aren't getting game of thrones the mountained instantly. That part really bugged me.

Even if they were super buff men they shouldn't be even stevens with uber-klingons in a fight.
