It's not right that the game undermines its core of letting those voted out render judgment upon the finalists. The two redeeming factors here are: a) The removed person was an evacuee at the merge. Neal never attended a Tribal Council with Michele or Tai, and was only on a tribe with Tai for three days or so. Compare this to the usual first juror, who has attended at least two Tribal Councils with the rest of the merged tribe. b) The removed person would have been the first juror, so in effect this retroactively became a season where the jury started at the final ten. The bigger issues with this twist, however, are: a) Michele got to choose whom to remove, and removed Neal because of his relationship with Aubry. In effect, Aubry lost a jury vote (relative to Michele) based on losing a challenge, something that could not have been reasonably anticipated. b) The season format was set up to "bluff" the existence of a Final Two - though this part only happened coincidentally, because Caleb's evac put production ahead of schedule. Had the game been run as planned, with the final-six Tribal Council on Day 35, it would have been obvious to the cast that something was up when the Day 37 challenge was final-four immunity. --- I have a signature now. THAT goes the other route, where they had too few teams to have a prolonged season. In order to have a proper number of episodes, you need to make up for the small cast size, and doing so in the form of NELs is perfectly acceptable.
