there is some fuckery going on in this episode (HHH E8 - 2nd merge ep)

This is the episode where Lauren finds the advantage that lets her skip a vote and then later have two votes, which is insane btw. So she doesn't vote during this Tribal and Jeff ends up reading all the votes which is 10. when there are 11 people. How did NOBODY notice that there were only 10 votes? what the fuck?

Second, what was with the Ben/Lauren throwaway votes from Joe/Desi. If it was an instance where they both knew they were the names coming up and didn't want to "betray" the other, still don't know why you would split votes because it's not like you can flush an idol or anything. It doesn't make a difference even if they had voted for the same person but whatever one of them should have flipped on the other.

Third, on the revote, why did they vote out Desi over Joe? Unless I'm mistaken, you can't play idols on the revote and if that's who you're worried about starting shit and finding idols there's your chance no? I don't really believe they're that worried about Desi going on immunity runs just because she won the first one.

There are a lot of tribal councils in that season that are all sorts of messed up and that's one of them. There's at least one more big wtf tribal council still to come.

Leann/Julie won a reward with chicken wings. They brought back chicken wings for the women. The women ate said wings while the men were out fishing. The men came back and the women offered them chicken BONES and both sides acted like it was an amazing and classy move.

As great as it is to watch Ben's acting job, it does bug me that he's going to seemingly end up reaping the rewards when the guy who apparently came up with the plan (Devin) is going to get screwed.

is that referring to his whole "Statue of Liberty" speech? if he has a bigger fuck up later down the road i haven't gotten to it. but yeaa on that i was actually letting myself get a little hyped that something was about to go down since he did have an idol and he did whisper to Joe to "follow his lead" right at the start of tribal. i was getting all ready to root for him following the craziness that would follow and then...??? was really more confused than anything after that.

Most people who post here have seen every season. The exceptions, as far as I know, were GTM and TimJab, and GTM got caught up and Tim left, so it's just you now.

We tend to put TAR and BB stuff in spoilers because a lot of people haven't seen all of those seasons and intend to catch up. Same with international versions of Survivor.

you know as exciting as some of these tribals are, i'm getting a little tired of all the advantages and idols going around and i'm sure that sentiment's been echoed before. everything is just so "strategy" focused and everyone is so set on being strategy-focused that i can't help but be a little weary.

I still think HHH's final 7 TC is the craziest we've ever had.

yeah i was def going to watch the Ponderosa stuff esp since she was the first member

i watched the Blood v. Water Ponderosa vids and i didn't really like them. would have liked to see them eat more and getting ready for tribal which were always my favorite parts. but there was none of that and most of it was just confessional stuff.

Pre-finale I was ready to put it at 18/35 in the solid Mid Tier. Post-finale I ended up putting it at 21/35 in the Lower-Mid Tier. Of course as I am going through a rewatch my tiers are bound to get shuffled around anyway so I may as well throw them out the window right now.

Well they are two different games.

TAR's non-elimination legs work because they come as a surprise. You always have to fight like you're going to be eliminated. And even if you get a reprieve, it's not without consequence. Since season 5 there have been various punishments for surviving an NEL, the current one being in place since season 12. Additionally, most of the time teams are sequestered between legs, so it can add the element of unknown in the next leg - instead of just WHO got eliminated, it's DID anyone get eliminated.

(non-elimination legs don't change how TAR is played because they have existed since the first season)

Amazing Race casts 22-24 people. That's a lot to edit, but they divide that massive cast into pairs, bringing the number down to 11 or 12. THAT goes the other route, where they had too few teams to have a prolonged season. In order to have a proper number of episodes, you need to make up for the small cast size, and doing so in the form of NELs is perfectly acceptable.
