With how often this gets proposed, I've developed my own variant of this twist: one idol, but it's available to anyone from the start of the game and is rehidden, similar to how it worked in Micronesia. Not as technical, but that reminds me of when ZFG was doing a watchthrough of some of the earliest known OoT speedruns and at one point he just stopped and went, "Wait, hold up, this was spliced!" and went back and explained how based on how the Pause Menu loaded to the map section instead of the items where its "last" location had been otherwise (I think, it's been a while.
