Todd Rogers, a 53 y/o Gamer Goat in Chicago Illinois, who broke the Guinness Book of Records for a 1982 video game called Dragster had his record REVOKED after 35 YEARS when Gamer Nerds on Youtube busted him on his so called record and said he CHEATED!!

He recorded a time of 5.51 seconds or Dragster that was verified by Twin Galaxies, a group specializing in game records and officially recognized by Activision back on September 1, 1982.

Dragster, a simple timed racing game for the Atari 2600 that hit shelves in 1977.

Guiness recognized his accomplishment in 2001 for being the longest standing video game record for 35 years..

But a probe from Twin Galaxies busted him as a fraud who said in a statement that they notified Guiness as the presented software analysis model concluded it was impossible to score times of less than 5.57 seconds under standard and normal play conditions

It all happened back in August when 2 geeks claimed the record was not a possibility as they were supported by the help of gamer Eric Koziel, who released a youtube analysis stating the time was impossible..

The New York Post concluded that they collected a significant amount of circumstantial evidence that extends well beyond Todd's single score performance and evaluated the evidence "carefully" and found it to be compelling and relevant.

The group said there's no evidence to confirm his record by Activision but his score was not able to be validated by anyone working there either.

Thus, Guiness has removed him from the record after an "exhaustive investigation" by Twin Galaxies as spokeswoman Elizabeth Monotoya said "Consequently, we have removed the record title for Longest standing video game record from our database, along with any other records that Mr. Rogers currently holds and we will continue to partner with Twin Galaxies for further video game record verification"

Todd went to FB to voice his anger and railed against the other nerds who said "For too long, gamers have tried to cheat the system and achieve recognition for scores they did not actually make. This is something i came across numerous times while serving as a Twin Galaxies referee. Seeing is believing. But when the remarks become personal, and my friends and family are dragged into the mire, it is no longer about gaming. People are wising ill will upon me and my family over what? A high score on a video game? If that is what the gaming community has become, then despite my love for video games and all of my contributions and experiences to help the scene grow by playing live at events and supporting the community, it is not worth jeopardizing my personal life and family outside of gaming"

He is NOT willing to play the game again to achieve that score as Kotaku says he has multiple records including 15 million point Donkey Kong game and 65 million point 5200's Centipede...

Koziel said this was a long time coming and he was happy to have exposed a long time gamer's cheating scandal.

Yeah he's a moron. If he honestly did claim to score 15 million+ on Donkey Kong, that'd go along with several other of his "records" that are many times over the actual score limit of the game.

It's worth noting his claim was not on the arcade version, which is the version most DK players use.

It happened to me once where I wrote a sign for 7 dollars and the lady thought I wrote 1 dollar and I was forced to give it to her for a dollar.

Rogerss record on the classic Atari arcade game Centipede, for example, had been listed on the Twin Galaxies site as being 65,000,000. The second-highest score, 58,078, barely comes close.

Honestly.... the people at Twin Galaxies should be in prison....

No one else saw that like half his records were either perfect divisible by 1,000 numbers, or max 9's....

No one remotely noticed FATHOM.....

Where his record is in the hundreds of thousands and second place on the entire planet is 142.....?

Or that one of those run would have taken 340 hours...

looks like he used some cheat to max the score on a lot of those since its the max score listed. As for the "these scores need 15+ hours" I know some people do marathons like that. He could have left the game running over night or something. Or someone just put in max scores and said they were "records" It looks like they were input from another site.

Some of the records he used "cheats" for. That Grand Prix one says Impossible, but then there is a link to a youtube video showing that time. The one for skiing was done with a trick. Not impossible as it says. In the link others have the time with a trick. Why not just create a separate category for the run with the trick.
Another one the score is impossible says its possible if you kept the demo running.

I think this guy just found exploits to raise the scores. Is it cheating? Maybe.

It's also worth noting that a lot of Twin Galaxies people, particularly people in high positions, were apparently good friends of Todd. When you combine that with the fact that many of the verification methods for these records were "eye witness" accounts from Twin Galaxies people, it's easy to see how things look suspicious.

Note that his record for Wabbit is listed as 1,698 despite the fact A) You can only gain points in that game in increments of 5, and B) the game ends when you get 1,300 points, which is why 2nd place was tied by like four people.

How exactly did he get away with this for so long?

I don't think exploiting glitches is cheating. One of his runs is obtainable with a glitch.

The second comment was that some of the verified scores took like an hour. Longer marathons are do able. My brother has left games on all night so he didn't lose progress. (Lufia 2 ancient cave he left on all night) I was just saying some of the scores could have been that. I didn't know his friends were the ones verifying the records so they inflated his scores. that makes more sense.

Edit: also, how could no one have noticed the Wabbit one for years. (other than that the score isn't that inflated for one)

If you want to get an idea of how bad Twin Galaxies is, then watch King of Kong. The guys in charge at Twin Galaxies are ridiculously corrupt and messed up.

But to get every card (in a speed run) takes hundreds of hours.

Nope. I was wrong. It's over 100 hours (God, that guy must have had GOD LUCK, the high rarity cards are 1/1024 drops....)

So Baten Kaitos i guess is technically the longest, but as has been pointed out... most of that is dead time. Yugioh you play the game the entire time.

There's a Yu-Gi-Oh game that's over 170 hours.

Baiten Kaitos 100% is one of the longest at nearly 350 hours, although that's mainly because of shampoo.

Twin Galaxies literally had no way to challenge scores until fairly recently, so people knew a lot of these were bogus, but couldn't do anything about it

the new administration seems to be better, all things considered, but the old ownership was so bad it will never truly be relevant again
