Having not played the series to understand what constitutes as a "bad ending" here, that sounds rough.

It's absolutely a rough series tonally in general, so I felt okay about it. I tend to super-complete games and get 'perfect' endings on first playthrough, so it was kind of nice to mess one up

It's super fun. The difficulty does randomly spike for specific matches, which was surprisingly frustrating to me the first time it happened

You have to let go of your 100% completionist tendencies in this game-Unless maybe you're determined to go through new game+++++++. I also believe it is pretty much impossible to upgrade all of your weapons to max

I have no shame- i always want to play on the easiest setting that doesn't feel infantile. That usually ends up being normal

zero RNG, turn-based games are absolutely brutal. i bring up the game because i think it gives good perspective on the usefulness of randomness

Zero RNG is automatically better because you have to be good to win. There is no getting bailed out for making stupid plays.

caveat: i didn't play any of the DLC for any of these titles

all of the games are great in different ways

i actually think dark souls 2 had the best pvp and overall gameplay, even if the setting/story was a big fat disappointment

the first dark souls is super cool for being the one to really get the ball rolling and create that sense of setting

dark souls 3 did wonderful great job of ending the trilogy and is, in terms of tech and co-op, the best made

bloodborne is beautiful and changed up the gameplay enough to almost be my favorite- it was just short and not that diverse

I would say the best thing about the series is its pathos. It does create a kind of feeling that isn't too common in gaming

Certain specific fights can be really satisfying, too

I would recommend jumping in and trying it with low expectations, and if the story ever starts feeling bad or stupid to just abort because it never improves

real answer? when i play too much. sometimes it's useful to take a break and participate in other hobbies
