Probably not- I'm going to guess you just need to use more & better stratagems. Difficulty varies greatly depending on how well you remember to use them frequently. Primary weapons and grenades are generally very weak, and it's a brain shift to get used to that.

You can't easily blast yourself straight through the difficulty settings unless you're lucky- some very useful stratagems are locked behind level progress and currency unlocks. It is what it is

Also, challenging/level 4 is where you start seeing some bigger/tougher enemies, so somebody needs to bring something specific that can deal with them

Overall, play at your own pace and learn how things work, and it'll get easier, through skill and unlocks

I can attest that it's a fun game

I've been waiting to recommend it to people because crossplay friend requests don't work yet, and there are some game crashing bugs they're still working out

But when it works it really works. Running higher difficulty levels with my group in discord and lower difficulties with randoms has given me two types of experiences that I like

In my opinion, RTS games like the starcraft or age of empires series are more comprehensible to a non-player. You can visually see the armies and bases and have a sense for what's going on. there isn't information that's obscure to the viewer like items and cooldowns in a moba

the pace is also slower than in fighting games, and interactions have more planning, which allows viewers to anticipate big moves, ambushes, tricky plays, etc

i found the beta/first release super fun. granted, i didn't get the battle pass, so i probably played less than some others. but i played a lot

the main bad thing i remember was queue times getting ridiculous after they added an official ranked mode. i preferred when there was only the "unranked with mmr" default mode (which was ranked in all but name) they had to start with

but the actual game- both 1s and 2s- was strong
