I'd only seen iron Man 1, Dr strange, black panther, civil war and guardians of the Galaxy 2 before watching infinity war.

The only other movie I wish I had seen prior was Thor 3, as I imagine it leads in pretty directly

I don't know about best, but I do think the buster sword is the most iconic of the series, mostly because ff7's game cover is great and features the sword prominently.

Brotherhood does give it a run for its money, just because it is so cool looking. Taken away slightly by the fact that every other water-aligned sword in the game has an identical appearance. Also its story implications are weak.

If we were going purely by in-game/story implications, I feel like masamune might have to win, just because it's heavily featured in a bunch of important plot points and story cutscenes
