Notice how he ignores my post, because it shreds his BS.

The 6 foot rule doesn't really work as well as we'd like it to. The virus can live for a few hours as aerosol droplets, and all aerosol can travel more than 6 feet. I'll let MIT handle that one, and here is a very good article from USA Today on this subject.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/health/2020/03/30/coronavirus-social-distancing-mit-researcher-lydia-bourouiba-27-feet/5091526002/

This doesn't contradict anything I said. In fact, it reinforces it.

From your own source:

The biggest threat we think with the coronavirus is actually the larger droplets. Droplets of saliva, snot, spit. Droplets that almost look like rain, if you will, when someone sneezes. Those droplets are large enough that gravity still acts on them. Usually, within about six feet of leaving somebodys body, those larger, more infectious droplets will drop to the ground. Thats where the six-foot rule comes from.

The point of cloth masks is to reduce the velocity of droplets (specifically larger droplets) so that exposure is minimized and people don't receive a significant viral load as commonly as they otherwise would.

And no, 6 feet is not a magic barrier, nor is a cloth mask. The point is to mitigate the risk, even though they don't eliminate it entirely. It's not possible for the entire populace to wear N95 masks.

Got down to core of Giant's Deep, which was super satisfying.

Still need to find The Vessel and Escape Pod 3, which are supposed to be on Dark Bramble. Tried following the red light, but that just lead to a weird red blob thing that I couldn't figure out what to do with. Feldspar isn't really helpful here.

It's always cute when red tries lecturing people who literally and physically do this for a living. You are so laughably wrong, yet laughably smug, and it's why people like Seph and I just dismiss you as a joke. You have quite the attitude problem for someone who is legitimately factually incorrect on such a regular occurrence.

https://www.insidehook.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/Coronavirus_mask.jpg

This mask does literally nothing for coronavirus. Nothing. I say this as someone who works in a research lab where we currently have live coronavirus inside of mice. We take human lung tissue from cadavers, bilaterally surgically implant them into mice dorsal to the scapulae (they look like they have shoulder pads, it's actually pretty cute), and then we inject them with live corona for various tests that happen afterwards.

If I wore that useless little thing I just linked to into the biosafety level 4 facility at work where we currently have live coronavirus inside of mice, I would get fired on the spot with no questions asked. But you go on pretending you know what you're talking about, red. It's quality entertainment.

The point of a cloth mask is to reduce the velocity of droplets that the virus travels on. Of course it's not as effective as an N95. But the general public also isn't supposed to be hanging out with coronavirus patients or live samples of the virus.

Cloth masks work for the general public assuming social distancing because the exposure time is lower and there's thus less chance of a significant viral load.

A few hours in and I'm loving it. It does such a good job of making the solar system feel mysterious and worth exploring, while condensing them down in a way that makes sense.

I also just love that I can see that the little bits of knowledge I've been getting are clearly adding up to something, but it's still not clear to me what that something is. It feels like I'm chipping away at a mystery rather than immediately being able to guess what's going on.

Nah. I stopped caring about politics ages ago, because its divide and conquer nonsense by people who fully get along once the cameras are off. I just follow the truth wherever it leads.

Theres just something inherently American about not listening to idiots in power. Did you know the governor of Cali ordered all wineries closed, but kept his open? Anyone who saw that and still listens to the guy is just asking to be taken advantage of.

Well I think you followed the wrong "truth" here considering he didn't do that. Napa didn't have to shut back down because they weren't on the list of 19 counties that were tracking poorly. There's a fuckton of wineries in Napa.

You really need to stop being so literally obsessed with California dude. You're not even anywhere near here.

It's decent on its own, but I feel like you're better off getting a bottle for mixing and a bottle for drinking on its own. But that's generally my stance with most liquors.

Although it's worth noting that there's a lot of bullshit in mezcal now because it's trendy, so I'd be careful with which "nice" bottle you pick up.

Also I have been drinking mezcal more often and would love for recommendations for a go-to bottle for my bar. Something good enough to drink on its own but not too good where it would be sacrilege to mix it into a cocktail.

We typically just use Vida for mixing. It's not expensive, and you can find it everywhere. El Silencio is fine too.

Most of the nicer mezcals are not really worth mixing with and are better enjoyed on their own.

This is absolutely false.

Japan is over twice as dense as New York State (863 vs 421 people per square mile) and has had minimal lockdowns. They have eight deaths per million. New York state has 1,652 deaths per million.

NY has over 200x as many deaths per capita as Japan despite half the density and stricter lockdowns.

So what is your stance on what the US should have done since you appear to be both against masks and lockdowns? What is it that you think Japan did right here?

More expensive than I'd like where food and drink are concerned. I really like good cocktails and food, and so I'm willing to spend quite a bit on those. Also with random items that I know I'll use a lot, I tend to look around for the best iteration of that item, which tends to be pricier.

Clothes and other stuff that's more decorative I'll typically spend less on (though willing to spend more if there's a functional reason, eg hiking gear)

Yeah things have to open up. There's this pic floating around as an example of how dumb the rules are being with protests.

There's no way this would hold up to any scrutiny.

Oh hey, this is my county.

Anecdotally, people here are generally following the guidelines, and there hasn't been any gaming of the system yet. The 100 person protest thing is weird, but I get the sense that it was put in there primarily to avoid conflict in a way. Contra Costa was also slower to enact curfews compared to nearby counties, and I get the sense that they've been actively trying to avoid pissing people off and escalating the situation.

Also it's worth noting that the 12 person gathering is supposed to be a closed group sort of thing, where you can hang out with up to 12 people as long as it's always exclusively the same 12 people. But it seems like they've done a poor job of explaining that bit.

I'd be up for trying some of the C-sides, but 8B felt like a complete wall to me and i'm now completely content to admit defeat, at least for the time being. every screen felt like it was on the level of the hardest rooms from 7B, and it just stopped being fun.

what a game though, holy shit.

All of the C-Sides are much shorter if that changes your mind any! They're all two short screens and one long screen if I remember correctly.

Chapter 9, however, is the longest chapter in the game by far.

It's definitely not the best in terms of public health, and I am very concerned about what will happen with regard to the virus one to two weeks from now

However, one argument for having this sort of action now is that states are starting to open up anyway, and this is probably the last chance before people are forced to return to work-- unlike other protests, there's actually a huge number of people who are not forced to choose between continuing to be employed or protesting

Is it worth it? Hell if I know. The whole thing is a supremely shitty situation
