I mean, I get that. But once it broke containment, what can you do? I mean, it spreads asymptomatic. It is likely all over the world now. And there is no way you could possibly ever follow all the dots now.

I mean, to prevent it you would have to seal all borders. Stop all illegal crossings. Quarantine for 21 days every single person enforced by a military state. And never reopen the borders until the virus was gone.

I mean, we aren't going to prevent it. Now for slowing the spread, we can do some things but I mean you are basically gonna have to do them forever at this point to prevent it unless summer really does kill it off or for a few years until a successful vaccine is made.

To stop medical hospitals from being overwhelmed, you have to keep it from the elderly as much as possible. Italy is getting wrecked right now cuz of that.

Proactively close schools for a while, make employees work from home where possible, cancel events, discourage travel.

When the Spanish Flu hit, areas that closed schools proactively had a lower mortality rate overall. People are gonna get it, and you don't need to slow it forever-- just until it hits the peak. The entire goal is to make sure that hospitals and the like are not overwhelmed.

Anyway, 10/10 platformer, but kinda expected that from Matt Thorson now that he's had a lot of time to get really good at making platformers.

Went back and got the moonberry too, so I'm officially finished with this game. Not gonna try to collect the strawberries I'm missing (already got the best strawberry ending) or golden strawberries (fuck that).

In terms of enjoyment on the final screens:

7C > 9 >> 8C >>>>> 9 (moonberry)

I actually kinda wish I hadn't gone for the moonberry. That was a frustrating experience and I feel like it was kinda the worst way to cap things off.

Also I was not a fan of the reliance on the jellyfish in the end screens on 9-- would've actually preferred more wavedashing. The moonberry screen actually made my finger sore from holding and pressing the trigger so much.

Here's my stats, before and after moonberry:

Yeah, I really don't get people who are happy with their current insurance. I'm lucky enough to have a stable job that pays me well, but I still get a little anxious knowing that an unlucky accident or a serious illness will make dealing with insurance a nightmare.

Yearly check ups are easy enough but you're kidding yourself if you think insurance companies won't fight tooth and nail the moment something much more serious/expensive comes up.

The fact that it's tied to employment really is just icing on the fucking cake.

I think the only way this could possibly be considered rigging is if there was a coordinated effort to both pull out the moderates and also explicitly make sure Warren didn't drop out (through some sort of backroom deal, etc) to ensure the vote split. But even that feels like a stretch here, and there's no evidence that something like that went down.

I like Bernie, and I think Biden will lose, but this feels more like a bad choice by voters rather than rigging.

I feel like with the age of the candidates involved, there's an off chance coronavirus takes out both candidates and no one wins

Or it infects both candidates, becomes sentient, and we are forced to vote it into office

So glad the rhythm blocks are over. The music was really dull (though I get that it had to be pretty minimal to help with timing).

completely disagree with this

the second "tutorial" makes zero sense to me and I can't see how one could glean the demanded inputs from it

What? It explicitly tells you and shows you in the tutorial on the computer

8C is the first level in Celeste that I honestly feel is poorly designed. Teaching a mechanic on screen 1 and then putting a skill check at the very end with no feasible means to practice it sucks

The level just feels tedious and finicky and I hate it

I just read a review where the writer said they were so immersed they forgot they were watching a movie, and I felt the exact opposite the entire time.

Definitely felt immersed. It was just fun to watch the characters do their thing.

Also one of my favorite moments is the flashback that lasts a long time and contains another flashback, only to cut back to Brad Pitt on the roof chuckling and saying "Oh, right"

Portal 1 and 2 both have a bunch of custom chambers via the community which I don't think you can play on console.

Even though Portal is a puzzle game, I still appreciated the precision you get with mouse and keyboard, particularly when trying out a few challenges. It just feels a lot better in my opinion.

It doesn't quite fulfill all of your requirements (2 players only, games are typically < 1 hour) but my wife is a big fan of Patchwork.

It's super easy to pick up, but it combines strategizing about how to best organize tetris pieces together to fill your board while also competing with the other player to get the ideal pieces that you need. It's pretty well designed as far as two player board games go.

If you don't mind another train game (well, subway) On the Underground is also pretty good. I like it better than Ticket to Ride as I think the gameplay is a bit more interesting. You are building train lines like in Ticket to Ride, but there is a passenger token that moves around the board to various destinations following some set rules, and which lines the passenger uses dictates scoring. There's other ways to score too (linking amenities with your lines, building loops), and while it has similarities in theme to Ticket to Ride it definitely plays differently.
