I preferred Bernie, but I don't see anything inherently wrong with Warren's message here.

But I do think that people are getting too caught up in the David vs Goliath narrative, which is clouding any sort of discourse. She probably should've known better than to release a statement that could be interpreted as "both sides"-ing the issue even though I don't actually think that was her intent here at all.

Got 12 strawberries first run with 19 minutes and 190 deaths.

Have no idea how to get that last strawberry

That's the one in the middle of a bunch of spikes? You have to grapple and jump-cancel, change direction and do it again two more times after grabbing the strawberry.

That one took me like 100+ deaths to figure out and is part of the reason my death count is so high.

Accidentally skipped quite a few strawberries, and some of them were pretty hard. I'm not sure if my last strawberry counted since I hit the checkpoint but then immediately fell off the platform...couldn't even go back to check if the strawberry was still there.

He is lifting restrictions, despite what red is trying to do to defend him.

From the beginning of this, Newsom has been a disaster. He has jerked people around, offered barely any assistance, and has broken his own rules before. When businesses were finally opening back up and everyone worked hard to meet all the standards, he literally said "Oh wait, you have to close back down in four days." He's just a goon and everyone has a right to be upset at him because he's just jerking people around and nothing he does makes sense.

He went on TV to brag about how much science there is and how great his state is doing now getting under control. Covid is still worse than it's ever been in California. The numbers are FINALLY starting to go down, but they're still horrifically bad and worse than they were before this latest lockdown. There are ICUs STILL at 100% capacity right now. And the tiered system is bad because people just go over to neighboring counties and it fucks everything else all over again. We still need this lockdown because things are still going up.

And you can say "Well at least we're getting the vaccine rolling!" But California is number 50 out of 50 states in terms of effectiveness in getting the vaccine out. He's just completely failed at getting people vaccines in this state, so we're even more behind than everyone else.

And on top of all of that, California has its own strain of Covid that is going around, meaning MORE people are likely to get this new strand of it! Things are so bad here we literally have a brand new strand of Covid to deal with.

And he's loosening the restriction for this trash tiered system that will not be successful. Gavin Newsom is an asshole. And I know red is saying "Well all these right wingers", no. Literally everyone on both sides are saying this is a terrible call. Right wingers will say whatever, but the science behind this makes no sense to lift a full state-wide lockdown right now. The right wing started to do a recall of this schmuck that got millions of signatures from people in California, which is why he's doing this. This is just going to lead to more deaths and anyone who is trying to defend this just buying into the nonsense of a guy who hasn't had a sense at all throughout this whole thing.

The vaccine rollout, from what I've read is actually...fine. We're not doing terrific at it, but the supply constraint is such that we are probably going to run out of vaccines soon regardless at current pace. There was also a conservative approach taken due to lack of clarity on whether there was enough for second doses. We're also no longer last (#44, woo).

Not gonna defend the French Laundry stuff (what a stupid thing to do), but I imagine the removal of lockdown is a response to the more conservative parts of state basically rebelling against it. Unfortunately there's a lot of parts of CA that are full of COVID deniers/antimaskers, and as it turns out the police in those parts don't really care to do much about it. It feels mostly like a "fuck it, leave it to the counties then" because realistically nothing will change much from this. The counties full of antimaskers will continue to be assholes regardless of whether it's sanctioned or not.

Yeah in a safe state presidential vote matters very little.

State and local ballot measures matter far more.

Red is just trying to feel superior over nothing here which I guess isn't a huge surprise.

Given what props got voted up/down in CA there's very little anyone could have done to make it worse.

Multiple adventure games

If I recall correctly in the Hitchhiker's Guide game:

You're given a time limit in the beginning as Arthur to escape before Earth is blown up. During this time you can also collect things in your house. Late into the game, the ship breaks down and you'll need something to repair it. You need to have every item you could have collected in the beginning, otherwise you'll be asked for an item you don't have and the game will be unwinnable.

Wanted to like it, but I feel like it didn't do much for me. The recruiting missions feel very weird-- you just stop a person on the street and say something like "Yo, we gotta do something about the state of things" and they respond with "Deadsec? Big fan! Please do this one thing for me and I will join without question."

Also it bugged me that the optimal strategy seemed to be to abuse spider bots because you basically don't get punished at all if one gets caught/blown up.

Going off his history, Joe genuinely believes this shit.

Probably because the alternative is that Progressives gain influence without a far right party around and he doesn't want that

As far as I'm aware, yes, it's real. It's from the wikileaks stuff that dropped pre-election in 2016 (which obviously helped Trump even more).

Maybe the strategy would have worked if other things hadn't happened along the way, but they were playing with fire.

You're making a big assumption that the DNC was competent enough to put forth a strategy that succeeded (getting Trump the nomination, not beating him in the election).

so your argument is that even though they tried to do something bad and dumb they shouldn't get the blame because they might not have pulled it off

Liberals speak for what they feel is right in their hearts not with understanding of why it cannot be due to limitations and life around them. The aerosol idea has been around for a long time as far as I'm aware. I don't know how seriously it's been treated compared to other methods for mitigating climate change though (carbon capture/sequestration, green energy, etc.) I think there's a lot of concern about not quite knowing the results of doing it on a large scale, much like seeding the ocean with iron (which some people attempted illegally years ago).

If you decide every 2000 voters is a house seat. Then you have 3999 voters. 1999 voters didn't matter.

Where as a state with 4000 voters has 2 seats.

Why would an X number make a difference? If it isn't proportional then at that point you might as well just have straight popularity votes.

Proportional representation will always have that issue to some extent, but it is better than the existing structure which gets increasingly less accurate due to the cap and population growth.

Also I read a suggestion that the smallest unit simply be the state with the smallest population (Wyoming). You'd use that amount for defining the number of districts/reps. Another upside is smaller districts where the rep is more closely aligned with their constituents.

Plus we'd get to used "Wyoming'd" again.

It's just a popular vote then with a certain number of disenfranchised voters for whatever makes you the remainder that doesn't meet 1? Sounds dumb and pointless.

I've read this a few times and I can't figure out what Corrik is trying to say here.

But the "point" is that the house becomes representative again, like its name suggests. 435 is a pretty arbitrary number that wasn't even set in stone until 1929.

The problem with sugar is that it's in everything. Companies figured out that adding sugar is an easy way to make your food more attractive to the general population, even in food where you wouldn't expect it to need sugar.

It feels a little scummy when you consider that for younger kids it's actually shaping their palates and what they're going to crave as adults. See soda for example and how many people have problems kicking the habit of drinking soda on a regular basis.
