Doesn't the game suggest to you what to build and research and stuff?

Just follow suggestions and see what happens.

It does, except it makes several suggestions and several kinds of suggestions (advisor or linked to a certain victory type). And from what I've seen sometimes you get only one type of suggestion for a given build opportunity (eg military)

iiicon posted...
the same way you get into any densely mechanical game, you jump in and mess around until things click. maybe play a few shorter games on small maps with the base game ruleset while you figure things out? or use a real world map to help ground you?

I essentially jumped into a game with computers on default settings after completing the tutorial. A few hours into the game I realized I was probably pretty behind based on score, but I had no idea if that was due to one big fuck-up or the accumulation of a lot of little fuck-ups.

That said, I agree with what was said before -- Crusader Kings 2 is absurd. I have 1.1 hours played in that game, during which I attempted to decipher the tutorial and basically gave up crying. That game's an incomprehensible mess. (People who get into it swear it's amazing, though.)

Yeah, my friend/former roommate played a lot of the Paradox games (Crusader Kings, Europe Universalis, and Hearts of Iron). Everything I saw him playing those, he was just endlessly fiddling with sliders. I knew from seeing all that that those games are not for me.

Yeah, I figured that I probably picked a poor game to start with, especially considering it came with all the DLC. I played Civ 4 once like 10+ years ago and all I remember is having no idea what I was doing until my friend came over and murdered me with a even.

The only reason I started Civ 6 was because another friend told me to get it so we could play together.

I guess the biggest issue is I don't really know what to focus on early game. Like, how soon should I be settling new cities? What should my builders focus on early? I feel like I just end up wasting a lot of turns clicking next turn.

I guess according to Ulti logic, kevlar armor is pointless because it can't always offer 100% protection against all bullets. Only surrounding yourself in several feet of solid titanium will do, and if you can't do that why even bother?

And yet, funnily enough, people at risk of getting shot like to have whatever protection they can get.

Titanium powersuit or nothing. There is no compromise!

They weren't close to eradicating it. What you should be glistening from this is that there is no eradicating it due to the worldwide spread. Even when they think they have eradicated it, there is likely people running around asymptomatically somewhere.

There is the possibility of eradicating it locally. You realize that there is a mandatory two week quarantine for anyone coming into Korea, right? As in they take you straight from the airport to a hotel where you are not allowed to leave your room for two weeks.

Korea also has way less in the way of privacy laws which means they can contact trace a lot more effectively, which is exactly why they haven't had the same level of lockdowns other countries have had.

There is no way to eradicate it in the US, but it's pretty viable in Korea.

South Korea actually came really close to eradicating it. They had three consecutive days without new domestic cases (only new cases were via travelers who were already in a a mandated two week quarantine).

One person ended up fucking it up for everyone, unfortunately. It's still not impossible for them to succeed, but it's definitely a setback.

Yeah, what. Where are you getting these mattresses and/or what in the world are you doing to them?

I would look into one of the mattress in a box companies. My wife and I have a Casper Hybrid that we like, and I know several friends who really like Purple. They both come with a 100 day trial so you can return them if you don't like them.

I think Purple is supposed to be good for back/hip pain. It's got a really weird firm feel to it but also sort of feels like a waterbed in a way. Hard to explain.

Apparently there's a new outbreak in South Korea that was started by a guy who was visiting nightclubs in Seoul.

The biggest problem is that these were gay clubs and being gay in Korea is pretty heavily stigmatized...

This is leading to issues with anti-gay sentiment, but it's also a huge problem because it's significant harder to track the potentially infected. People are going to be less willing to come forward and out themselves as gay, meaning a lot of people are potentially going to be unaccounted for.

To make matters worse, there's a lot of foreigners in that district, and they may not get the phone alerts.

Impressed that you actually did 100%

I'm one of the people who really didn't enjoy Odyssey and much preferred Galaxy. I feel like they focused too much on adding moons, and it felt too much like checking off boxes to try to go for 100%. The fact that there were so many moons that were easy to get or copy/pastes of moons on other levels just felt like they cheapened the feeling of getting a cool/difficult moon. Also they locked some of the moons behind game completion why?

I also died like 80% of the way through Darker Side of the Moon and realized there was no way in hell I would go through that level from the beginning again. Not really a fan of test of endurance levels where a death means you have to go through something that takes 10+ mins again.

Is silently leaving just caused by using the - button and leaving that way? Or is it something else?
