Also advertisements on sites are generally extremely cheap, given that they're priced per 1000 ads. --- |

Topic | Ginhyun's bullshit quest to get his goddamn AirBNB key |
VintageGin 06/05/17 6:18:58 PM #1 | Decided to get an AirBNB while staying in New York. The host tells me that she'll be flying to Tanzania the day I arrive. But she tells me the cafe where I can pick it up and says it'll be open until 1 AM. She also gives me an emergency contact in case I have any trouble, telling me that this contact will have a spare key. Cool. She changes the contact the day before I arrive because the first one is unavailable. Whatever. I land, find out the cafe actually closes earlier than she said. There's only one guy there, smoking outside and he has no idea how to get the key. He tells me to come back tomorrow morning. I text/call the emergency contact. No response. Spent the night in a hostel. Get a call in the morning. The emergency contact guy is extremely apologetic, and he sends me money for the cost of the night at the AirBNB and the night at the hostel. That's fine, I guess. However, he informs me he does not have a spare key. Whatever, I'll get it from the cafe. I decide to swing by the cafe in the morning. It's not open. Not only that, there's a sign saying that there will be filming happening at the cafe so it will be closed all day. God. Damn. It. I call the contact and go to work for the day. He contacts the cafe via email. They say I can pick up the key, but they'll be closed after 7. I get to the cafe, they (almost predictably at this point) won't let me get the key. Now I'm waiting for emergency contact dude to come over and try to sort out the situation. I have to say that I have a hard time being outraged with how ridiculous this has all been. It's actually kind of funny at this point. --- |

VintageGin 05/25/17 9:30:16 PM #40 | @azuarc There's a big difference between drinking for taste and drinking to get drunk. A lot of people get exposed to cheap, awful alcohol, but that's not representative of the whole. And there are some amazing cocktails, especially nowadays as cocktails have begun to get more popular. She was initially really excited about it, but now she's worried that either Trump's going to start some shit with North Korea or something stupid like the travel ban that affected green card holders will prevent her from re-entry. While I doubt she has anything to worry about (no way South Korea will be added to any travel ban list any time soon), having to convince her it's going to be okay has definitely made the trip planning a much less fun experience. --- |

However, there is an amazing cocktail bar in Shinjuku that I recommend checking out: http://punchdrink.com/venues/ben-fiddich/ Also, I went to a maid cafe and it was honestly pretty awful and a waste of time. The cat cafe I went to was okay but was something like $7/10 min. From what I saw, the theme cafes are pretty pricey and not very good in terms of food/drink. --- |
