Very glad that Obama alum Buffy Wicks won my CA state assembly district over a far left candidate who was against any market rate housing construction despite the fact that CA (and the Bay Area in particular) are in the middle of a huge housing crisis

great I'm sure all those new luxury condos will help solve the problem

If you let them developers will build middle income housing as well. Even if only high income housing would be built though that would still help since the people who will rent those high end units would have rented cheaper units otherwise (which can now be rented by someone with middle income).

Making affordable housing is part of the solution as well, but building enough to meet demand with only that strategy is completely infeasible.

They'll build whatever is most profitable. This is going to be luxury apartments/condos and mixed-use buildings that have more office space than apartments (resulting in a net negative in terms of people to livable space ratio).

I don't really have a whole lot of confidence in "Buffy the Bernie Slayer" as she likes to be called.

I dunno what this hype about TF2 being better than Overwatch is coming from.

I played TF2 hardcore, like, I was not pro, but I was maybe two divisions below pro. Valve killed that game super SUPER hard. It changed from a serious game with an interesting competitive metagame, to a F2P hat collecting game (which is around when I quit).

Oh also, TF2 never had anything like matchmaking, leagues, any of that stuff that Overwatch has to encourage competitive play.

I haven't been following Overwatch too closely, but at a glance it looks a million times better managed than TF2.

Oh, don't get me wrong--TF2 defintely jumped the shark. But the overall base gameplay of Overwatch, which is centered around ultimates, is a lot less interesting to play or watch--sort of like if everyone had an uber/kritz in TF2.

There are other issues I have with the game, but they're a little harder to articulate-- mostly related to visual feedback, which TF2 did an amazing job at (and I'd argue still does a better job at despite all the hats).

TF2 did do it better, but I have my doubts that Ulti played enough of either to form such an opinion.

Plus TF2 had more RNG.

I spent $300 each for my wife and I to eat at Alinea in Chicago and after eating there I would have paid twice that

Not gonna lie, half the reason I want to visit Chicago at some point is for Alinea and The Aviary

I would recommend The Girl and The Goat as well

Thanks for the recommendation! Though I need to figure out some reasons to visit Chicago that aren't food/drink related, especially as it's unlikely my work will ever send me there.

Blackbird is better than all of those except for Alinea fwiw

Uh, so you mean it's better than the one restaurant mentioned that isn't Alinea? The Aviary is a cocktail bar.

I think the most I've paid was like... $70-80? It was at the Wynn's buffet in Vegas, it was Mother's Day weekend so the price was higher than normal, and we paid an extra $20 to skip what was probably a 1.5-2 hour line. So a $160 meal for the two of us.

Wow, they let you straight up pay to skip the line?

Also if you're not limiting yourself to just SF, you can check out Muir Woods or go to the east bay and hike (or drive) in the Berkeley/Oakland hills for a great view of the bay.

Also, I recommend The Ice Cream Bar in SF as well-- their butterscotch ice cream is great, and they have some alcoholic milkshakes that are more on the side of cocktails rather than someone just dumping some rum in a milkshake.

You can take a ferry and hike to the top of Angel Island

Golden Gate Park and the Lands End/Sutro Baths areas are nice

There's also SF MoMA

If you're looking for bars, Trick Dog and Smuggler's Cove are great-- the latter is one of the best rum bars in the country. I have some other recommendations here but those are probably top 2.

Pranked my boss once...wasn't worth it.

you can't just say that and not tell the story

I was fired from a Christmas company the week before Christmas.

It was my first real job in New York -- technically Mount Vernon -- and it was not worth it. Two hours of commuting each way, working departments I'm not qualified for, being denied lunch breaks...oh, the things I did for my first salary-job.

It finally went too far when we had forty-two days in a row of sixteen-hour workdays, starting right after Hurricane Sandy. I had one day off, but only because my grandfather died. Three days of bereavement were supposed to be available, but I was whittled down to one because we were in the Christmas season and I was scared to lose my job. It felt awful...sorry Grandpa.

Work was super-hectic from October until about two weeks before Christmas; most people had their decorations up by then. The office was still empty though, so a Russian superior -- Natasha -- suggested we play a prank while the bosses were out.

I was down. I mentioned a prank my boss Billy laughed about on my first day of work: rearranging a room. She was immediately down and grabbed the keys to his office.

This was where we had a BIG divide in philosophy. I thought we would turn a chair around or move a table a few inches -- subtlety being the key, just to see Billy wonder if anything happened at all.

Natasha's idea was to wreck shit. She threw his work-pictures all over the desk, took down his family pictures, sat his plants all over the room...she went wild.

Damn, that sucks. Also it sounds like Natasha doesn't know what a prank is.
