The thing that killed Xillia 2 for me is that you weren't allowed to grind money. If at any point you ever had more than the payment, the game would harass you every single screen transition to pay it back, even if you already made the mandatory payment. The only way to avoid this was to advance the plot where the next payment would be higher.

You could stall by paying just 1 every time they asked you but it really made the game unfun. You couldn't save up any money for anything.

I have a trouble with trails because my ocd makes me want to get full marks on every side quest to get top ranks,so i get the good endings, and then I end up resorting to a guide which isn't fun.

It would be one thing if you could go back and do things but so many quests have limited periods to do them and only one chance to get full points.

All the trails games have only one ending with some minor variations starting in Zero based on friendship meters.

The only exception is CS4 but afaik it's not possible to miss the extra thing you need to do to get the good ending. You might have to do a bit of obnoxious back tracking but it's available any time just before the final ponr.

There's a few instances where people will acknowledge your achievements in other games like the various fishing guilds, and some quests that have a second part in another game, though I believe they stopped doing things like that starting with Cold Steel.

In CS3 onward they made it real easy. All quests are marked on the map and any NPC you haven't spoken to yet is also marked. If you clear every map of icons you'll find everything you need. For missions with different grades you can just save scum. The games have ways of telling you that you fucked up. Probably easier to just get a guide to look up the quests that have wrong options though.

Secret of the Stars isn't that bad. It just happened to exist on a system with shit like FF4/6 Chrono Trigger, Lufia 2, BOF1/2, and some Japanese exclusive shit like DQ5, FF5 and Lennus 2

Had it released on the Genesis it might have done better. The only real competition on that system was Phantasy Star 4

It can absolutely be used to make great games. Problem is a lot of people seem to only put in the bare minimum effort. Most use default Windows/Menus and the included free resource pack is usually a sign that the game is mediocre.

It's ease of use attracts a high amount of novice developers so the game quality you get is novice level most of the time.

Actually being in jail will completely destroy his electability with moderates. Unfortunately the current business fraud trial has a pretty low chance of jail time even if found guilty and the more serious trials won't be finished until after the election.

I've been going through FFTA2 again lately and while it's definitely an overall improvement there are too many jobs that are too similar and so many jobs basically boil down to "attack + status"

I've ideas on how to rebalance the classes. Maybe I'll type them up sometime.

I'm in a weird middle ground when it comes to cilantro. It doesn't taste like soap to me. Or maybe the people saying that's how it tastes have never actually tried tasting soap. I also don't like it though. But if keep eating it anyway eventually I'll adjust. Like I just had for lunch some biryani that had cilantro everywhere and it was delicious but if I actually pick off a piece and eat it by itself it's kinda gross. I have a similar problem with mint. Can't drink mojitos because of it. Stuff with mint flavoring is ok sometimes. Makes me wonder if there's something in the plant itself that's the problem.

Yep, came in to post this. Actually thought this is what this topic was going to be about. Supposedly the manufacturing process that Hershey's uses produces butyric acid, which is the distinctive tasting/smelling acid in vomit. So if that's the case, then it's not really hyperbole or snobbery. It's just a taste you grow accustomed to if Hershey's is the main chocolate you eat, and you likely associate that flavor much more with chocolate than vomit. But people not used to it will pick up on it immediately

Butyric acid is in lots of things. It's in milk, butter, meat, basically anything you can eat from an animal has butyric acid in it. None of those things "taste like vomit"
