Yep, came in to post this. Actually thought this is what this topic was going to be about. Supposedly the manufacturing process that Hershey's uses produces butyric acid, which is the distinctive tasting/smelling acid in vomit. So if that's the case, then it's not really hyperbole or snobbery. It's just a taste you grow accustomed to if Hershey's is the main chocolate you eat, and you likely associate that flavor much more with chocolate than vomit. But people not used to it will pick up on it immediately

Butyric acid is in lots of things. It's in milk, butter, meat, basically anything you can eat from an animal has butyric acid in it. None of those things "taste like vomit"
