OLED burn in is less of an issue than it was on Plasma even. I really don't think you'll have issues unless you leave static images on it for hours and hours at a time. A common example would be if you watched 8 hours a day of CNN and their red box logo was always in the corner. That would burn in after a while but if you play a variety of games and media you're not likely to run into any issues.

Touche but I use it to illustrate an example as bright static reds are rather problematic when it comes to burn in. You really won't get burn in even on OLED without hours of a static image like that on the screen regularly.

$1k a year is terrible, but I don't think the burn in is anywhere near bad enough that you'd need to replace a TV that soon.

Rtings.com has been stress testing oleds by running CNN on them constantly, and a lot of models took 3600+ hours of that constant static image, before the burn in was noticable at all. For general use, they should last a lot longer.

This is image retention not burn in. Burn in is permanent while image retention is temporary retention of an image. As plasma aged it became more susceptible to retention but it isn't permanent.

Should be nearly impossible to get LED burn in. They produce less heat than a LCD backlight bulb which is even less heat than a plasma.

I use a OLED for gaming since 2018. No issues with the set after 3000-4000 hours of gaming. I bring a Samsung CU7000 42" right now with me to the university since our rooms are small. TV is decent for a non OLED but does have issues on angle viewing

Ive had my OLED monitor for over a year and no issues. Its a monitor so it does image clean itself after ever use. Not sure if TVs do the same thing.

Used a plasma tv for 11 years, barely any image retention. Got the LG C3 OLED last Black Friday. Shouldn't be an issue. Just turn on pixel shift to help prevent burn in if you actually do have the same static image in the same spot for hours at a time.

I've been using an LG C1 as my monitor for the past 10k hours of TV on time while also turning off some of the protections and leaving the TV on during static images with no noticeable burn-in. Well, there is some dirty screen effect as a result during solid colors such as a pure light grey wallpaper but I've had other TVs that had those by default and even worse to boot. 0% noticeable during motion in games, even while panning across clear blue video game skies which annoyed the fuck out of me on previous TVs.

I gotta' agree, mainly because I own the samsung QN90B which is a miniled with excellent contrast/deep blacks comparable to a oled's in most situations but with being able to get brightness/peak nits that can melt your eyesballs for streaming show/movie and especially video game HDR highlights, handles blooming way better than older LCD/LED TVs, no auto-screen dimming limiting worries when too much of the screen is bright at the same time and well....just the peace in mind I get if I am worried I am no-lifing too much of this game with non-dimming and unmoving huds today/for weeks/for months/for years. *I played like 2,300 hours of monster hunter world, I know my habits lol.*

Real talk, for these tier of TVs that cost like 1,400 bucks for a 65 inch this thing better be lasting me at least 7 years with the picture still looking pristine for that kind of money. Same goes for monitors.
