It's a really exciting time when you're reading a manga that's on its final arc and is heading toward a definite climactic end that was built up and foreshadowed over the course of the entire series.

So many potentially good manga either get axed or end because the author ran out of ideas; like Mx0 -which got axed-, or Kagumi no Kuni no Harisugawa -where the author wrote himself into a corner so he ended it prematurely- (Both are from the same author too!), that finding a good manga that also has a good ending is getting harder and harder as more keep getting published.

I felt this way when I was reading Assassination Classroom and now as I'm reading Jitsu Wa Watashi Wa. Jitsu wa's arc is still on it's climb up to the climax, but unlike most mangas, you can actually FEEL yourself getting invested with each chapter. The build-up is perfectly paced, with every loose thread left over the series coming together and joining up, and you can see in your mind as you keep reading where the threads will take you at the end. Of course, knowing the author, he might just take those threads and slap you in the face with them with an unexpected plot twist. But even then, I know it'll be well-written and make sense in the end.

Goddamn, I LOVE this manga!

I found a very interesting manga recently that I think some of you might enjoy.

It's about a guy whose irresponsible parents sold him to a demon in exchange for great riches.

... And it's a comedy!

Because the demon actually just wanted to have a grandson to spoil and brag about to his other demon buddies.

Now, the MC has to survive being enrolled in a (literally) hellish high-school, and keep his identity a secret!

The manga is Mairimashita! Iruma-kun, and I gotta say, it's a very good manga if you're looking for some goofy light-hearted comedy, with a sprinkling of seriousness thrown in from time to time.

It's relatively new so there's only 11 or so chapters up so far, but from what I've read, I've really liked.

Yeah I kinda wish someone would make a nice edit of some popular shonens that cut out all of the padding bulls***. It'd probably cut some of the shows in half or more. 5 episode fights would be over in 5 minutes.

Isn't that why DBZ Kai was made? It cut all the pointless episodes down and added a few extra scenes to smooth out transitions between events.

Hmm... there's been an interesting update to one of the mangas I've been reading.

So apparently there's now a spin-off manga of Sousei no Onmyouji (Twin Star Exorcists), centered around a main MAIN character who had gotten depowered in the main story, so now the spin-off is focusing on their journey to get their powers back.

Usually, I'm meh about spin-off titles about side characters (or backstories about main characters), like the Shinomiya spin-off from Shoukugeki no Souma or Sinbad's history from Magi. But this is actual, crucial character development of a MAIN character, along with some crucial information about the big end baddie and other important world-building lore. This should have been in the main story, but instead, we have a freaking tournament arc going on right now!

Okay granted, there's actually a legitimate reason for the tournament; and it's an important plot point in order to fully test out the limit of the MC's strengths and convictions, so going from that to a semi-slow arc about a character who is far away from the main action would kill the pacing of the manga.

So I guess it would make sense to have the other MC's arc be a separate thing for now and eventually link up to the main story. It's definitely better than having the other MC just show up out of nowhere in the middle of a fight, all powered up with only two pages dedicated to explaining how they got there.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, I hope the author knows what they're doing.

lol, if there ever was any doubt that Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san was a spiritual successor to To-Love-Ru, it's gone now.

The latest chapter literally had the MC turn into a pair of panties and be worn by the "modest" girl.

If you guys like TLR you should read this. It's a lot less ecchi than TLR though, but it makes up for it with the fact that it actually HAS a likable MC, he's well-written with lots of character traits, unlike Rito's one note "constantly gets into lewd situations" trait, and the girls actually have reasons for liking the guy other than "brainwashed into liking the MC because of lewd situations."

Why is it that Manga has "chapters" & not issues? Is it wrong for me to call em issues?

Tankoubons mostly.

In Japan, manga "chapters/issues" are released in large serialization magazines alongside other manga titles.

After enough chapters/issues have been released they are collected and organized into a single volume book, aka tankoubon. And thus, those individual releases become actual "chapters" in a book.

Also, when talking about "issues" in regards to manga, people refer to the actual magazines themselves, like Shonen JUMP or Bessatsu Margaret, as "issues" i.e. This week's issue of JUMP has... or Monthly Champion's issue reveals...!, in order to avoid confusion.

Also also, and this is just a personal thing, whenever someone refers to "issues" of a comic, I always default to western comics in my head.

definitely worth it

ehhh... as of this arc, not really.

It's been on a slow descent recently. You can tell the author didn't really know what to do with The teacher and Keita's relationship. There's hardly been any major development since it was started over 30 chapters ago. And even the way they "broke up" was half-assed with absolutely no legitimate reason given by the teacher other than "just because."

I get the feeling the author wanted to do as much of a fresh start as possible, which is why they heavily emphasized Mikazuki staying the same, and everything "going back to normal"

Haven't read Ubel Blatt yet so I can't really form an opinion on that.

And yeah, in GS, the author really wanted to drive the point home that goblins, no matter how weak they are, are still MONSTERS.

It kinda makes a confusing contrast at the start, since we as readers can fully appreciate and experience how savage goblins can be, as seen through GS's eyes. But the kingdom and all other adventurers still see goblins as a minor threat. (which ends up being a fatal mistake for rookies as we've seen time and time again)

I guess it's understandable, seeing as how there's a supposed demon lord gearing up an army for a massive war, and that's the kingdom's top priority for now. But you'd think the local lords or dukes would do SOMETHING about the constant reports of women getting kidnapped by goblins.

Goddamn that was a powerful ending to Goblin Slayer's major arc.

Guys, I swear, you HAVE to read Goblin Slayer, if you're any kind of fan of "dark" high fantasy mangas like Berserk.

It's not for the faint of heart though. Like I said, this is like Berserk, so expect gore, death, and lots of rape.

But it's truly good. Comparing GS's first 15 chapters with Berserk's, and I can say that GS beats it by a landslide. And it'll only get better from here.

Eh, I've seen a couple of instances where the mangaka got disheartened after seeing how the anime got a low rating and stopped, or the anime made drastic changes from the original, so the mangaka added those into the manga without warning, you know stuff like that.

Every entry in the Suikoden series has 108 recruitable characters. I think there's some sort of lore behind the Tenkai Star (the player) and its ability to draw out and find the other stars of destiny whenever there's a world crisis.

In any case, while I'm not a full 100% completionist (like, I won't spend 10 hours grinding just to get 1 random drop in order to fill out my item list), I do like to complete games as much as I can, in one playthrough; so I often resort to guides to help me out with missables and secret characters and stuff.

Woof. Is this a coincidence or is the universe up to something? Because the two daily 4-koma manga I've been reading (Tomo-chan wa Onnanoko and Mousou Telepathy) suddenly took a trip down into the serious and dramatic side.

I mean, more character developments are great and all, but it's kinda funny that both mangas have gone super serious at relatively the same time.

Anyways, I've hit the 60 hour mark in Xenoblade X a few days ago, and I'm still 1/4 of the way through the story missions. Kinda feeling a bit of a slowdown so I decided to take a break and go for some old-school JRPGS. Finished Breath of Fire 2 just the other day, and now I'm on BoF3.

It was okay.

I actually went into it hoping for a John Wick like movie, but I ended up disappointed in that regard.

Overall it was a pretty standard spy/double agent movie, with only one scene that was noteworthy enough to bother remembering. Well, two if you count the lesbian love scene between Charlize Theron and that french chick. That was pretty hot.

Yeesh, someone screencap this for future Olorin's sake.

This is the kind of shit that, while you think is cool to post right now, you're gonna look back and be like "oh god, why did I post that? that was cringy af"

I mean, I understand that you're passionate about video games, and good on you for being confident enough to show it in your posts, but I don't think you've really understood that not everyone views and experiences video games the same way.

Woo!

Love the EO series.

I was worried that it was gonna release in November, and get overshadowed by Pokemon.

lol, if the anime makes you that mad, you would probably find the manga positively infuriating.

There's a reason why, at least in certain manga sites I've seen, there's the saying "It's a better love story than Nisekoi"

It took a few hours but now I'm really starting to get into Xenoblade X.

The barrier of entry of this game is ridiculous though. You literally have to research numerous hidden mechanics and gameplay essentials that the game just does NOT explain to you.

Still, after that, I'm having fun. I can't wait until I finally get my robot. I'm gonna color it in EVA colors for sure.

Remember when I posted pic of that delinquent loli character I posted a while ago?

Well, she just turned into one of my favorite characters in the series.

You know they say "every badass needs a loli," well this time the badass IS the loli.

like the one where they all wander up the wind stream thingy.

That's one of my favorites as well.

I also like the "The Village Closest to Heaven" one and "Letters From a Weakling."

Those short stories really are the best part of the game. They're just SO well written.

Oh sweet merciful valhalla it's finally finished installing everything.

Just how massive is this game!?

Regardless it's time for me to go to bed so I can't even get to finally play the damn thing after waiting for so long.

And with that, I have now fully 100% completed Wind Waker. All figurines, treasure chests, heart pieces, island hidden caves and chests, and yes, I got 999 hits on the swordmaster (which took me nearly a whole day to do!).

Honestly this is the most fun I've had playing a video game in a long time.(even when I was trying not to go insane doing the 999 hit challenge). I can definitely say Wind Waker is my favorite Zelda game. (May change once I've started Breath of the Wild though. Who knows?)

I think I'm gonna do Xenoblade X next.

But it looks like I'm gonna have to wait for like an hour before I do so. Holy shit the data packs take so much memory! It's almost 15 gigs worth of extra data, and all of that is just to help load times.
