I played Breath of Fire on SNES. I liked it but I never finished it; I did that thing where I get to the end of a game and lose interest. It had great music and cool characters though. I've also got BoF IV on my Vita.

Did you get to the end of the game, or ... did you get to the end of the game? That is one of those titles where there is a True End that is not easy to get (and is not hinted at all by the main game).

I personally think BOF1 is great, but it does not gather a whole lot of steam until about mid-game (i.e. when you see the Emperor get his minions together and officially start shit by sending them after you).

^ Reminds me of Tales of phantasia. There were atleast 2 or 3 times I thought I was within 10 minutes of the end credits, only to find there was still TONS of gameplay left. That game was really huge. I never actually did beat it, but I played for I think around 60 hours...

Woah! I just discovered that Kaguya-sama (my favorite manga now), won the NicoNico manga contest!

http://tsugimanga.jp/result/2017/comics/

Which means there's a high chance that it'll get an anime. Usually, I get wary whenever a manga series I like might get an anime, but this is one of those series that would just be PERFECT in anime.

Also, @FellWolf Promised Neverland got second place!

Eh, I've seen a couple of instances where the mangaka got disheartened after seeing how the anime got a low rating and stopped, or the anime made drastic changes from the original, so the mangaka added those into the manga without warning, you know stuff like that.

Yeah, I think the contest was only for relatively new manga, meaning manga that have only been in serialization for around one to three years.

Something this successful, for certain it'll get an anime adaptation, next year or two. I'm guessing when the next narrative arc is done.

30 something chapters in 1-cour or 2-cour? 1-cour would be really tight pacing; 2-cour would be slower, like AoT S1.

I think Noragami's 1st season had pacing issues, and this season's Made in Abyss is suffering the same thing. I'm guessing they stretched material because their 1st narrative arc would be like 7-9 episodes with normal pacing, and ending midway through a second arc is really disappointing.

Also, I don't know if I said this before, but I'm reading a manga that pretty recently got an anime announced. Golden Kamui, it's a survival adventure set in post Russo-japanese war in 1920's in Hokkaido. MC quirkily can survive grievous wounds, so he's supposingly immortal. Other than that, there's nothing supernatural I think. And he's accompanied by an Ainu woman in their adventure.

A random thought from this anime season:

Shinpei in Hajimete no Gyaru and Uehara in Gamers! are played by the same guy (Toyonaga Toshiyuki), who also voiced Amakusa (main character) in Noucome. I thought it might be him, but it was fun to confirm it. Dude has crazy range, and he does comedy very, very well.

Goddamn that was a powerful ending to Goblin Slayer's major arc.

Guys, I swear, you HAVE to read Goblin Slayer, if you're any kind of fan of "dark" high fantasy mangas like Berserk.

It's not for the faint of heart though. Like I said, this is like Berserk, so expect gore, death, and lots of rape.

But it's truly good. Comparing GS's first 15 chapters with Berserk's, and I can say that GS beats it by a landslide. And it'll only get better from here.

Sounds like Ubel Blatt, which is a manga I've recommended on this thread a couple times. It is also dark high fantasy with plenty of gore, death, and nudity.

I've been browsing through a few Myanimelist articles/lists lately; this one made me laugh.

https://www.myanimelist.net/amp/featured/1910/The%2010%20Craziest%20Anime%20Commercials

I remember when Miku performed on Letterman; when I first heard about it I did a little internal "nooooo" because I knew it wasn't going to go over well. It went about as well as you could reasonably expect it to, but the awkwardness was palpable.

Misappropriated time/skills/manpower/management, and incompetency.

Slightly longer: Director had huge, achievable ambitions; Squandered a huge amount of time deciding on artstyle/models; Couldn't use the detailed 3d models they made because it took too long to render them with deadlines so close, couldn't use standard 3d tools/effects because of incompetency/deadlines,

I'm really enjoying Suikoden (PS1) its simply brilliant. Finding & recruiting the stars of destiny & seeing your castle grow is so amazing.

In other news, I just discovered a new series of JRPGs, the "SaGa" series. On the original Gameboy there where 3, Final fantasy legends 1, 2 & 3. On SNES, Romancing SaGa 1, 2 & 3. Finally, on PS1, SaGa frontier 1 & 2.

According to Wikipedia they are made by Square soft & feature open world, non linear gameplay with multiple different characters (each with there own stories) to play as. This series sounds really amazing, anyone have experience with it? I'm really surprised I only found out about it now.

After I finnish Suikoden I'll play Suikoden 2, but after that I think I definitely wanna look into this SaGa series. There's alot of games on my plate...

There is also a game called Unlimited Sa Ga for PS2. I do not recommend that one.

That being said, the Sa Ga games can be difficult until you get used to how they play (i.e. how to build stats for different characters, classes, races, etc.). I recommend playing the first one (called Final Fantasy Legend in the U.S.) to get a feel for the basics of the system, then playing the first Sa Ga Frontier when you really want to see what the games can do. Or the PS2 remake of the first Romancing Sa Ga, which is also a good, underrated choice.

In the meantime, though, enjoy Suikoden II. Truly one of the best JRPGs ever made, certainly one of the best of the PS1 era.

Was gonna recommend 12 kingdoms but you have indeed already seen that.

Aha! You haven't seen ISM (Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari). Thats actually a really solid isekai show IMO. Only weird thing is we never see the main guy actually in the real world in this series (I think its a tenchi spinoff or something but everything that happens here is standalone).
