I'm not usually the type to say there are right or wrong ways to play a game, but BoTW definitely is a game whose enjoyment is built around the player making their own pace and exploring however they want. It's a VERY different game from the previous Zelda's so going in with a fresh perspective and no expectations carried from past games might help you get into the game quicker.

So for now, I would suggest that you don't worry too much about weapons; you'll always find something you can use when/if you need it.

I also highly recommend turning off objective markers if you truly want to feel like you're exploring the world. The game's NPCs are pretty good at giving directions especially since they reference areas by name and the map's areas are always labeled. Forks in the road and pathways are usually marked with signs, and beacons, stamps, and the Hero's Path mode makes sure you always know where you've been and where you might wanna go.

The most fun I've had was always been getting distracted on my way somewhere and getting rewarded for my curiosity. (either with more weapons, korok seeds, or even shrines)

The PS4 collections. I actually should have waited a couple days before finishing the last game in the collection; I beat KH1 at almost exactly midnight on New Year's a year ago.

If that was meant in regards to my post, I was actually questioning their remarks about Ghost Stories. If you look at the time-stamp, I posted within the same minute you did =p

Regarding Ghost Stories, the story is that the anime bombed so hard in Japan that when the studio (Animax) presented it the localization team (ADV Films) for them to dub, they gave them total creative freedom as long as they followed these three rules:

"1. Do not change the names of any character, including the ghosts.
2. Do not change the way any ghost is killed as it is based on Asian ghost legends.
3. Do not change the meaning of the episode."

As long as they followed those, Animax told the dub team to "do whatever else you want to make the show successful."

I don't think Animax truly realized what they were signing up for. :P

Just found out that Bandai Namco released the required PC specs and the performance details for Vesperia Definitive edition.

https://tov10th.tales-ch.jp/remaster/spec/products.php

Basically

1080p for all consoles (720p in handheld mode for Switch)
For Switch and Xbox One it'll be 60 fps in battle, 30 fps in the overworld.
For PS4, it'll be a solid 60 fps throughout the whole game.
No apparent optimization for One X or PS4 Pro.

For PC, it supports resolutions up to 4K, and it'll have a variable framerate.

I only have an Xbox right now so I might get that version, but maybe I'll hold out until I get a Switch instead.

Which version are you guys getting?

Fantasy Life just wasn't satisfying my craving for a build and level up your character/crafting/exploring/dating sim game for the 3ds, so I went back to one of my all time favorites, Rune Factory 4.

Having said that though, I didn't actually FINISH the game since I was too preoccupied with dating all the girls in order to see all their events, which meant I never properly married and raised a family in the past.

Gonna change that now though. I'm a committed man now! I promise to be loyal to my virtual waifu until the end. Get ready Forte! (Although, Margaret is pretty cute... and who can resist Clorica's sleepy voice. Maaaybe I'll try to date somebody on the side? Just a little?)

New MHA chapter was short but holy shit it raises so many questions.

Right!?

I'm really wondering what the hell is happening to Deku right now. What's worse is that he can't even turn to his mentor since All Might never experienced the "dream" that Deku and All Might's master saw.

I wonder it's a case of All Might being super compatible with OFA, which means he could unlock all of its power without interference from the first bearer; or it's the opposite, and Deku and Nana were somehow on the same wavelength with All For One's brother and allowed them to see his embedded will within the power.

On a tangent to that though, I'm really worried for Horikoshi's health since the recent chapters have been getting shorter and shorter. Hopefully it's just a case of getting rushed by JUMP to get chapters out before the holidays and not a case of building exhaustion or sickness.

I'm really enjoying the "Solo Leveling" manga.

*manhwa technically since it's Korean.

That said, I'm enjoying it as well.

It's got all the good parts of "The Gamer," without the needless exposition and talking dumps, with better art and pacing.

And it fills the hole that "Legendary Moonlight Sculptor" left when it went on hiatus.

If you're interested in another similar manhwa/webtoon, I recommend "Skeleton Soldier Couldn't Protect the Dungeon."

The art is not as good as Solo Leveling, but it has its fair share of intrigue and interesting worldbuilding. It's also one of the relatively uncommon ones with a non-human protagonist.

I finally married Kasumi in Story of Seasons, but I got kinda bored just watching my crops grow while waiting for her to pop out a kid, so I started Fantasy Life.

I figure bouncing between Fantasy Life's combat, crafting, and skill leveling system, and Story of Season's farming and dating sim systems, I can make a pseudo Rune Factory experience for myself.

Damn. I just bummed myself out when I realized we won't be getting another Rune Factory game anytime soon. :(

You know, on one hand I'm kinda glad that Story of Seasons introduced the "going steady" mechanic, so you have to commit to actually dating one of the characters before getting married. It adds a touch of realism, characterization, and depth to the bachelor/ettes.

On the other, I'm also the kind of guy who likes to make a pseudo harem in these types of games, and to see all of the special events the characters have, and THEN choose who to marry. Can't do that anymore :P

Oh well, decided to go with Kasumi. I'm a sucker for the yamato nadeshiko types, the "you taught me the meaning of love" type, and also the clumsy and shy while in love type, which she checks all the boxes for.

I've been playing Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns, and I'm now at the point where I can start dating one of the bachelorettes, but I just can't pick!

https://imgur.com/deqo0ur

From left to right we have:

Lisette - The traditional girl next door flower shop owner. She can be a bit naive and childish with her love of fairy-tale romances, but still possesses a heart of gold and is just filled with sweetness and, as other in-game characters have mentioned, "an aura that makes you want to protect her"

Iluka - The younger twin. As a priestess she has the power to read the auras and emotions of others. She can be spacey and is always sleepy, but she can also be surprisingly snarky when she wants to. She works as the chef in the sister's cafe.

Siluka - The older twin. The typical tsundere, she has a bit of a mean streak, but she can sometimes show a bit of sweetness underneath her spice. She has the power to read nature and predict the weather. She's in charge of drinks at the sister's cafe.

Komari - The typical genki girl tomboy. She works as a waitress at her family's tea shop and is always ready to greet her customers with an energetic smile! She often laments that she didn't take the time to learn to be more "girly" and has always harbored a secret desire to be treated like a princess.

Kasumi - The quiet and cool school teacher, and also the typical sheltered ojou-hime character. Growing up in a strict traditionalist household has left her with a large distrust and discomfort around men. It'll take a lot of effort to get through her icy shell, but you may just discover a lively and passionate heart underneath.

I'm leaning towards Kasumi, Lisette, and Iluka, but I'm having a hard time choosing. Which do you guys pick?

A+ soundtrack, that game. Koshiro is still boss.

Oh yeah, I can definitely say that the soundtrack is one of the game's biggest strengths.

Which is a bit rare for a relatively average length jrpg. (I clocked in at around 35 hours for full completion)

Usually most games of this length have one main battle theme and one or two boss themes. But I was surprised when I found that each major area had it's own random battle theme, roaming dragon theme, AND each major boss had their own wonderfully orchestrated theme.

I LOVE this song the most, not just because it sounds awesome, but the circumstances that led up to fighting this boss was really really impactful. (spoilers in the comments!)

Only because he got slightly more screentime than them.

Sero's power set is insanely useful and versatile, and Sugar-dude could potentially end up as a sort of All Might-lite with enough training. Both of them are definitely at a higher tier than Mineta purely in terms of powers. It's really a shame that they don't get the chance to showcase their talents more.

In jrpg news, I just finished 7th Dragon III Code: VFD, both the main game and the post-game dungeon.

It's an... alright game. Not insanely great, but not offensively bad either. The character class system is interesting, the turn based battle system is alright, and there was a genuine OH SHIT WHAT THE FUCK!? moment during the story that I genuinely didn't see coming. It's a solid 7/10 game.

Now I'm moving on to a game with a slightly higher caliber, Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey Redux.

Though I am a little miffed that I have to redo the Bowser's Minions sub-game as well. It's not bad, but it does get boring and stale a few times. Not looking forward to slog through the early parts of it.

Blargh...

So I've been playing the Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga remake for the 3ds, and I was planning on doing a near completionist run (all items and stuff, but not max level), and I just found out that I missed three pieces of endgame quality gear in a place that closes permanently after a certain point.

Which is stupid because you only got Luigi during that point, and I was deliberately not fighting enemies in order to not skew the levels between the bros, and I was certain that the enemies there didn't drop anything worthwhile.

But apparently they changed it up for the remake because they made one of the enemies drop the BEST gear in the game during that part, but only if you also have the gear that guarantees a rare drop (which the casual player probably won't have by that point. I only got it because I was actively farming beans for it). So if you gave that accessory to Mario (like I did), you're screwed. And don't count on getting it once you have the bros back together because the place closes up right after you're done with it, so you can't even go back and farm them. Goddamit Nintendo.

Welp, that's 12 hours down the drain then... time to restart I guess.

It's been a long time since I watched it so the details are a bit fuzzy but; isn't that what the whole "Power of Three" thing they have is from? That they're from a special lineage of witches and the reason they're so powerful is because they can pool their strength when they chant spells.

And that's the reason why they were desperate to find their long lost sister when they knew they had one, just to restore "the power of three" when the other one died?

So normally I don't usually like when people do english covers for anime songs.

It might be that the lyrics don't really flow well in english, or the one doing the cover has a pretty mediocre voice, or sometimes, you can tell that there really wasn't a whole lot of effort put into it.

But this one is pretty rad I must say.

If you didn't know any better, you might even think that Myth and Roid themselves were the ones who made this version., it's very well done.

Here's new gameplay footage for Vesperia definitive edition.

Looks like they just inserted the new VA lines for Yuri into new scenes and kept the old ones, instead of a full rerecording job. Understandable from a cost perspective, really. But it is pretty noticeable and a bit jarring, especially if you're someone like me who has played this game a lot (around 400 hours total across multiple replays) and have the voices so deeply ingrained in your memory.

At around 3:00, you can see a new scene with the new VA.

To his credit, the new VA is doing a good job trying to emulate Troy Baker's almost iconic voice, but it's still pretty clear that's a different person. And Karol and Rita definitely sound older, which is no surprise.

Kiiinda not feeling the VA for Patty though; Mieu was my least favorite voice in Abyss. Might come to like her eventually while playing, but who knows. Will just have to play the game and see.

And just as I was typing this up, I found out that Bandai Namco didn't even ask Baker to come back to voice him.

https://twitter.com/TroyBakerVA/status/1043084182405173248

Which is bizarre, since they managed to get everybody else back to record new lines.

The Vesperia board is lighting up about this issue, and I can definitely understand why. Troy Baker IS Yuri Lowell.

I think as long as you don't hit around 23-25 before you get jobs, you should be good.

And in any case, I think there's an area with enemies that give low experience but still give job points, so you have a fallback plan in case you do accidentally overlevel. (I think it was a tower or something?)

As far as tips go, if you want the Hero to get the "Hero" job as fast as possible, go for the Luminary advanced class. You only need around 490 battles to master it (That's Gadabout + Dancer included), and then you can go ahead to Hero. All the other characters need to master 4 advanced classes to unlock it.

There's a couple of philosophical hypotheses/theories that sorta address what you're talking about.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omphalos_hypothesis

http://www.reasonsforgod.org/2012/11/was-the-universe-created-five-minutes-ago/

https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Last_Thursdayism

As far as actual implementation in media goes, there weren't any immediate examples I could find, sorry.

It is an interesting concept though, in so far as you can't just easily dismiss it out of hand like other philosophical thought experiments.

Wow. Princess Bowsette is BLOWING UP in Japan apparently. It's got the #1 trending spot on it right now.

https://twitter.com/DeeDKei/status/1043896067085938688

A LOT of artists are doing fan images of it like Dagashi Kashi, and Goblin Slayer's artists to name a few.

And even MORE are doing NSFW versions like Dragon Maid's artist and Mizuryu Kei.

Here's the original that started it all:
https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/001/412/109/0d1.jpg_large

And here's the author's reacting to suddenly growing from 70 followers to over 10K followers in a few days. (And getting over 100 new followers every day)

Just search for Bowsette or and you'll see.

If the box doesn't say it requires a download to play it, you could take it back and try to get a refund.

I looked some things up and apparently, it wasn't this bad at launch.

Since then, they've apparently reworked some things and added a few updates, plus they threw in all the DLCs for free, so things got a bit bloated at the end.

Cause Bethesda doesn't know how to optimize games.

True enough.

I've tried playing it when it was at 50% but I got this strange no texture/shadowy version. It's pretty spooky and strangely even more fittingly atmospheric. Another person got this exact same issue and played through the game like that and managed to record it.

So I guess this happens when you play it before it completely installs. It's pretty interesting how much it changes things.

Also, it took my crappy internet nearly an hour to get to 30%.

It says it's "ready to start" but I know it's all LIES.

It's ready to start, like with Battlefield 1 being ready to play the story when it knows damn well you want the online.

Well, I'm not really interested in the online for this one, but I am worried that I might get randomly cut off during a big story mission, and I'll have to wait another hour before I get to jump back in.

Does that happen? This is the first time I've encountered something like this.

I have an xbone and I recently bought a physical copy, but it says I have to install a 60.56gb(!) update.

What use is a physical copy at this point? Might as well just make it a digital only release and save production costs.

Just finished playing through the Final Fantasy 4: Complete Collection for the psp.

I remember my first time playing it on the fan, and I really really liked all the improvements it had.

I didn't really get why almost half the people I've seen talk about it hate The After Years. I thought it was a pretty neat way to add some more story, background, and personality to the characters.
