but have restrictions on them for the safety of the populace

We already do.

Full-auto guns made after 1986 are completely illegal, and ones made before have a significant ($10000 or so) tax for transfer.
Rounds larger than 50-caliber are outright banned.
Buying a firearm from a store almost always requires a background check, and occasionally a waiting-period.
Buying a handgun out of state requires that gun being shipped to a FFL in the buyer's state.
Suppressors ("silencers") require $200 and annoying paperwork.
Adding a shoulder stock to a handgun also requires $200 and annoying paperwork.

They idolise guns to the point where they are content to see children routinely massacred and not actually even try anything to stop it.

Nah. It's idolizing the constitution. The whole point of that thing is to evade tyranny, and a government that ignores its own charter "for your own good" is pretty much the definition of tyranny already.

Banning guns just needs 38 states to ratify repealing the 2nd amendment.

Now, that wouldn't work in America as people are fanatical about their guns but I would suggest tighter regulation on getting a gun to begin with. Needing an evaluation and medical approval from a doctor, training being mandatory (and being upkept) better gun training/handling taught in schools maybe (in the sense so children are more aware of the dangers of them) certain guns used for hunting being harder to get and you needing to prove that you are a hunter to own them. Far harsher punishments for illegal ownership as well, so it has serious consequences.

I really doubt that much of those would stand up in court, except the last one. Felons and loons caouht with guns do need to be punished a bit more severely.

https://www.justice.gov/sites/default/files/usao-ut/legacy/2013/06/03/guncard.pdf
As is, it's up to 10 years, or fifteen if a felon has been caught with a gun three times already.

The bill creates a new notice and cure requirement in the Americans with Disabilities Act, which would force people with disabilities to provide businesses with written notice of access barriers that need to be fixed, then wait for months to see if substantial progress has been made in removing them. This effectively exempts businesses from complying with their obligations under the ADA and proactively ensuring that people with disabilities have access to places of public accommodation.

What's so "bad" about that, instead of just having a process server suddenly show up with a multimillion dollar lawsuit?
