what happened
Trump said that 10 years ago, Obama's actions today would be considered treason. He then said that 50 years ago Obama would have been executed for it.

TC posted a topic titled "Trump says Obama committed treason, calls for his execution". That topic got modded. The latter part, while definitely hinted at because it's that fucking lard baby we're talking about, could arguably be considered editorializing.

So TC posted another topic about how his topic was deleted. In this topic, he talks about the content of the article, what he called his topic, and linked to the article again.

This topic was also modded. The title wasn't editorializing, the content of his post was purely informative. And that second thread still got deleted.

Nah, you really shouldn't be surprised when someone slugs you if you have a habit of referring to them via racial slurs.

It's always a shame when people resort to violence, but literally all this guy had to do in order to avoid being hit was not to refer to a black man as the n-word. I don't blame the guy for slugging him.

Andy Gavin has a blog with this detailed breakdown on how they developed Crash 1, and the fact that the game was able to look that good and run at a decent, stable framerate is a miracle in itself. One thing they snuck into the game in order to get it to work is that the game needed to overclock the PS1 compared to the rpm that Sony set out for all games to run at. The game is a technical marvel, and it was the founding fathers of Naughty Dog along with a ground-floor member of the team they picked up that was able to innovate enough for that game to become a reality.

I'm saying this because Andy Gavin and Jason Rubin stayed on at Naughty Dog up until Jak 3. I'm pretty sure Andy Gavin was the big tech guy of the team, and as well as being one of the driving innovators behind the technology that created Crash Bandicoot, he did a fuckton of work that made the Jak games so awesome.

I'm pretty sure he had to write a new engine specifically to animate eye movement, and if you pay attention to any of the Jak games, the shadows are 1:1 representations of the model's movement on a flat 2D plane and they're sharp as fuck. Compare the shadows in Jak 2 to the shadows in any game past the PS2 - they have taken such a massive step back, especially in games like Forza. It's understandable that CPU intensive games don't have the time to render realistic shadows along with everything else, but the fact remains that the Jak games have some of the best shadows in 3D games to this day. And I think a lot of that comes down to Andy Gavin.

This is like, the Holocaust denier version of "Civil War wasn't about slavery."
Yeah, Jewish people were specifically targeted. They were kicked out of their homes and moved into cramped ghettoes, and their businesses and property were seized and given to Aryan Germans. There's an event called Kristallnacht where Jewish businesses were targeted and destroyed by Nazi supporters. The Nazis documented the genocide they were carrying out against the Jewish people, intending to display it as their great victory over "the enemy".

Yes, they also targeted gay and disabled people. But there was a clear effort to exterminate the Jewish population in Germany. Hitler personally vilified the Jews, a lot of their propaganda was about vilifying them, events like Kristallnacht affected them specifically and it was primarily Jewish populations who were driven out of their homes into ghettos before being taken to labor camps.

Nazi Germany certainly did target Jewish people.

Judaism is a religion, but there is a racial side to it too - for example, Ashkenazi Jews are considered culturally and racially Jewish. You can be culturally Jewish atropos of nothing, but you can come from Jewish blood as a part of your heritage whether you're religious or not.

At least, that's my understanding of it.

If you're going to be the kind of fuckface who demeans other people based on aspects they were born with and can't control, or who have suffered a permanent loss of their bodily functions due to outside causes, then you need to be prepared to lose your job.

In a purely business sense, they're a demographic that companies don't want to piss off. In a basic human sense, they're individual people who deserve to be treated with the same respect that you expect to be given by others.

It's not humane to get a person fired from their job over a word? It's not acceptable to racially profile customers, or talk at them with racially aggressive comments or refer to them as a slur. You're being a piece of shit, and no company worth their salt wants to be associated with that. No person worth their salt wants to be associated with that.

So yeah, no sympathy. Bigots can get fucked

I saw someone citing review figures, apparently tlou1 had about 9500 reviews over the course of 7 years and tlou2 had 35,000 within 48 hours. I think a lot of its reputation is being fostered by a large, irrationally angry crowd who've been itching to turn this into a bigger deal than it is ever since the trailer launched where Ellie kisses a girl.

I'm playing the game with a friend, and it's been a phenomenal experience so far. I nearly skipped out on a bunch of optional content early in the game, and I'm so fucking glad my friend leant more towards doing the side stuff before continuing the story.

I understand and respect that everyone's going to react to games in a different, personal way, but everything I've seen about this game's backlash has felt like a bunch of horseshit. Like damn, everyone spent six years gagging on the first game's cock as the pinnacle of cinematic storytelling in video games, and now there's this concerted effort to ruin the sequel's reputation based on a bunch of dumb shit and a bunch of cherry-picked leaks that were weakened by a wave of counter-leaks.

There's a video someone posted on CE of some neckbeard fuck getting up in arms that you can't shoot a copy of the Torah in a synagogue, and you hear all this bad faith bullshit about a character in the game being Jewish. I'm seeing a lot of barely veiled contempt for minority races in TLoU2 discourse, like having a Jewish character is some SJW propaganda that only "sheep" can enjoy without feeling deeply unnerved. I can't fathom the vitriolic backlash to this game solely on the back of identity politics - I know there's more to the discourse than the identity politics, but you'd have to be dead, dumb and blind not to see some of this shit.

I'm not going to comment on the story since I'm not that far in and I'm going in with an open mind, but I've liked what I've seen so far. I'm hearing villain sue this, Swiss cheese plot that, and I don't think I can take any of that in good faith based on what I've experienced so far in the game. Jury's still out on the story.

I'm highly critical of the backlash, since it started with Ellie being depicted as a lesbian. Any self-respecting fan of the first game would know that Ellie kissed a girl in Left Behind, meaning that there's precedent for her being a lesbian before the second game was announced, and as the backlash picks up these dog-whistling alt right turds, it's harder and harder to treat the backlash seriously. And honestly, I think the most affected consumer in this situation will be the people who played the game and disliked it for a bunch of personal reasons, because unless they're putting out perfectly formatted blog posts that go into their entire thought process, they're going to be lumped in with people whose biggest point of contention is that there's a Jewish character and a religious artifact you can't damage, which symbolises some dogshit anti-semetic rant by some alt right goon.

Not everyone has to like the same thing, and I can respect someone who genuinely can't enjoy this game in comparison to the first. I genuinely want to see civil discourse for this game. But you would have to be a gimp of massive proportions to not see how batshit insane this entire backlash is.

It is a very nice song, but I feel like it's been memed to death by now. I will say for all the horseshit that Fallout 76 ended up being, the version of Country Roads they made for that game is fucking incredible. It's just such a great song on its own, and now with Fallout 76 being the mess it's been, the song's earnest pining for an untouched, idyllic place of beauty you remember it being carries that much more weight.

Like sure, there are songs with grander statements and more lavish production. There's a whole spectrum of romantic music for all occasions, and your favourite love song can be affected by what stage of a relationship you're interested in the most - pre-relationship pining, domestic bliss, remiscing on a prior relationship etc. But I challenge you to find a song that's as poignant as Same Old Lang Syne.

It's nostalgic, it's sweet, and it feels so grounded. Two exes sharing a six pack of beer, catching up, and wondering how things might have gone if circumstances had been different. I dunno - it's just such a bittersweet concept, and outside of the implication of drunk-driving, the song feels timeless.

The only intestinal bleeding story I have comes after eating some super spicy seaweed chips, I pooped like four times the next day and three of those poops were all red and bloody with pellety s***s. The fourth one was just regular brown poop water and some traces of feces. I think the seaweed chips f***ed up my stomach and caused me to bleed internally for a hot second - then the drinking and other food kicked in and made more neutral feces. So I had some blood in my colon duentona f***ed up stomach, but once that had been drained out, all that was left was legitimate poop from my healed gut. The blood just got trapped inside the whole system until I popped it all out.

10, 9, 13, 11, 12.

Pretty much sums up my feelings in the showrunners too.

Also, if we're on that Eccleston discourse - his season of Doctor Who is arguably the perfect distillation of the entire show, and it deserves a lot of credit. You learn everything you need to know about the Doctor and the universe he lives in - time travel, companions, sonic screwdriver, Daleks and regeneration. By virtue of only having the one season, the first revival series serves as a perfect introduction to the franchise, down to learning that he changes faces instead of dying.

And it's the strength of that first series that laid the groundwork for the rest of the ongoing series. So yeah, Eccleston is arguably nthe most important revival era Doctor, and his one season was a perfect Doctor Who experience. I still like Tennant a little bit better, but I'll be damned if I don't enjoy and respect Christopher Eccleston's Doctor

ITT: a cop gets treated like a regular human being, has her food delayed through regular-ass circumstances, has a breakdown about it.

This wasn't discrimination, this wasn't a targeted attack. This was one person whose food took a while longer to cook than she would have liked.

At an absolute baseline, as a human being, I hope for her mental health to be stable. I understand that things are stressful right now. I also understand that everyone has a breaking point, regardless of how small or unrelated it is to a wider issue they face in their lives. But I cannot stress enough how little I feel for a police officer crying for mercy in response to having their food come late at fucking McDonald's. This was not a slight. If you're facing backlash and severe stress at your job, put out feelers and get another job. Don't cry on the internet for pity points over a fucking McMuffin.

Actually fuck it, I'm bumping again because I have a question for Y'all.

When Mickey is dying and Rocky tells him they won, Mickey looks over at Rocky before saying "that's good, we got him" and all that. Rocky looks pretty busted up, and the entire time they're training, he says that Rocky's gone too soft and that he's not going to be able to beat Lang.

When Rocky says that he knocked out Clubber Lang, does Mickey know he's lying and that he's saying he got knocked out in two rounds? Because I think it's a case of both of them comforting each other - Rocky's lying about winning, and Mick's lying about believing him to help his passing go over smoother. But ultimately, Mickey dies knowing that Rocky lost the title.

I'm not saying that bigger problems in the world doesn't make circumcision a problem, but I am saying that I see FGM as a bigger problem in the world with a bigger negative effect, on all fronts.

Again, there's a genuine dude on this board who takes issue with his circumcision. I respect his feelings on the matter, and I respect anyone's individual issues and struggles with circumcision. I understand that people feel insecure, or feel a sense of loss, for having a natural part of their body taken away. I can respect that on an individual level, but I can't respect it as a greater topic of internet discourse because as an issue as a whole, I do feel like it's a first world problem and the false equivalencies and outright falsehoods that dudes troll with are absolutely insane.

And like even then, do whatever you want to further your cause - your feelings on it are valid, and it's understandable to dislike it as mutilation. I remember an episode of MASH where Hawkeye wanted to take out someone's healthy appendix to get them out of the war, but BJ objected on the grounds of mutilation - I can understand the issue at hand. I just think it's gross that someone saying "I was circumcised as a child and I'm perfectly happy with my penis" is met with "well, you're just a sheep" or "you agree with the process of mutilating a baby's genitals".

No, I just don't see anything wrong with my penis or with a healthy circumcised penis, and I don't think I should feel insecure or ashamed about being circumcised because it was the worst thing that ever happened to a small subset of guys. Just because circumcision makes you feel a little less complete, that doesn't make it a universal experience.

Can you at least accept that cut guys can be perfectly healthy and content with their junk without it furthering a culture of mutilation?

And the ALM shitheads say that racism is dead. When confronted with a population that exposes the prejudice and dehumanisation they experience in their daily lives, racists go right back to lynching.

It's almost like they're trying to say "if you think things are bad now, we're going to go old school and show you what suffering really is".

are you trying to convince yourself or....?

The whole anti-circumcision circlejerk on CE bugs me, so I rant. Sometimes taking the bait is a good method of stress relief.

You're literally brainwashed sheep if you're fine with circumcision and advocate it and shame people who have a problem with circumcision.

What does it say about you that your response to a circumcised guy who's perfectly content with his penis is "you're just a brainwashed sheep who wants to mutilate babies"? Do you want every cut guy in the world to feel ashamed and insecure about themselves?

Worrying about a slip of skin that doesn't affect your greater wellbeing, to the point of shaming people over it and calling them monsters for not falling into lockstep with your victim narrative, is self-centred and stupid. If having an unwanted circumcision as a baby is a big problem for you, I respect that you feel violated and that you have extremely negative feelings about the practice. I don't respect attempts to paint cut guys who are happy with their junk moronic idiots who have been swayed by a grand agenda of the masses.

I'm sorry, but being ass blasted about circumcision is a first world problem. You're not being bombed or raped or oppressed on a large scale - you're upset over an elective surgery that doesn't change all that much of a person's life or wellbeing, to the point where you're hysterically citing all these facts about numb penises, like a circumcised man doesn't know what pleasure is. Female genital mutilation is a bigger issue, for the severely negative effects it has on women's reproductive health and for the culture that forces that upon them. When circumcision involves sewing the tip of your penis shut until there's only a tiny pinprick there for you to pee and cum out of, creating build-ups of filth and bacterial disease that causes the penis to rot and fall off, then I'll grab a picket sign and march on the front line to abolish circumcision. Until then, there are more troubling issues in the world for me to feel bad about, there are more pressing issues in my own life I want to focus on, and I would rather be content with who I am than feel violated and lesser for someone's victim narrative to take off.

This didn't post before I went in. I just had the swab.

The swab I had years ago was incredibly unpleasant because my doctor jammed it into me without much warning. I made the grossest, Nigel Thornberry-ass noises at the time - shit was fucked.

My COVID doctor was a good dude. The swab was still incredibly unpleasant, but it was a slow descent, a quick jiggle and a withdrawal. He didn't cram it in and trawl my brain for lice like the last time I had a nasal swab.

Now I go into isolation for up to 48 hours. I just grabbed some lunch, which feels like a big no-no, but goddamn - I want my last meal as a free man to be the local $6 schnitzel and chips deal.

I want to see a doctor about some health stuff, but the local practice isn't taking anyone unless they have an appointment or unless they have a clean bill of health from a COVID screening. I haven't been to the doctor in years, not since a really fucking bad ear infection, but I want to get a new GP and have a general wellness check-up.

I'm not looking forward to the nasal swab, I had one of those about 4 years ago when I had influenza.
