No problem. I was questioning my gender for a while there, and frankly I'm still not 100% on how I feel. A big concern I have is that I don't have a great relationship with masculinity - it's like I don't know what masculinity expects from me, I don't see eye to eye with the role I'm expected to play.

But I also don't think I'm a very happy person in general, and both my feelings regarding masculinity and my overall unhappiness are informed by a lifetime of being bullied and "othered". Like, I've just never fit in. I've gotten by to a degree by masking aspects of myself that aren't socially palatable, but even that can only go so far y'know. And while it's one thing to imagine life being better under a different set of circumstances, like having been born a girl, I'm also concerned about neurodivergence and the possibility that I'm as bad as I am because all the bullying led to stunted social skills. It's a real mixed bag, and I don't have the answers. And with the past year of my life being such a massive shitstorm on so many other fronts, I haven't had time to really unpack gender stuff alongside that general negativity with my counsellor.

But with all that being said, I feel strongly about gender and I'm invested in the zeitgeist within the queer community. If there's anything I can do to start a mature and reasonable discussion that normalizes aspects of queerness that people aren't familiar with, I want to start that discussion and I want to maintain a positive, educational environment where people can come to terms with those aspects.

Parts of my posting about the dysphoria bible, in hindsight, don't apply universally - the idea of male and female brains can come across as bio-essentialist, and a thought I've been considering lately is that whether there's an underlying biological need for gender transition or not, gender transition and non-binary self-expression is something that anyone should have the freedom to experiment with. And yet if a biological necessity to transition rings true to people, if gendered brain chemistry is indeed an aspect to the transgender experience and that avenue genuinely helps someone come to terms with a sort of disconnect they feel with their assigned gender, that's equally as valid.

Honestly, the only thing I've learned in the past couple of years is how subjective the trans experience can be, and that I shouldn't be preaching to one expression of that experience because when people are convinced that there's a single path, anyone they perceive as straying from that path can potentially be harmed with bigotry. Gendered brain chemistry made sense at the time, and I still believe that it's a significant explanation behind the reality of gender transition. But today, I don't necessarily believe it's the one and only reason behind gender transition. I just don't know.

At the end of the day, I'm happy to have made a positive difference in somebody's worldview. My opinion doesn't always stay the same, and I'm always looking for another way to look at things that may expand upon a prior stated opinion or straight-up usurp it if it seems like a better idea. But whether I carry a point forward or leave it behind for something new, I'm always glad to hear that something I said helped another person come to terms with something about themselves.

ted danson is a legend obviously, and the show had a lot of great moments. In one episode becker is visited by an old friend who had since transitioned ("he said, she said"). It was pretty insightful for 1999 and that's the episode I remember best
I'll admit that I was pretty offput by the first quote that was like "This person can't make up their mind, one minute they're a man, the next they're a woman, make up your goddamn miind!!". But that develops past that point, and the whole thing is that although he's surly he cares about his patients.

Honestly, David Hyde Pierce is a man who makes me cry.

He'd been in the same relationship with a man since the 80's, and it's only with the re-criminalization of gay marriage in California that he spoke up. He and his husband married before it became illegal again. As David Hyde Pierce gained attention as a Broadway director, he would thank his husband for his irreplaceable feedback on what made those plays special.

I have such a large place in my heart for David Hyde Pierce. Good man, I love him and what happiness he can find.

One night when I was shitfaced, I ordered the entire series of Becker on DVD. It's in NTSC so I can't play it on everything I have. But getting Becker for $50 was pretty great.

There was a joke where Bob, the creepy lech, is talking about how his childhood pediatrician had died. He says "He brought me into this world and now he's dead!!", distraught that a figure from his life from such a young age had passed on so unexpectedly. Reggie, always disdainful of Bob and his numerous pathetic come-on attempts, replies "Well, the punishment fits the crime, doesn't it?"

Like I've grown up around people in the exact same shape, from mothers who've aged pretty bad to counsellors I've seen. It's not healthy per se, but it is widespread. People get old and fat - lots of people, most people even, turn out like this.

She's not an actress any more, she's chosen to live in anonymity and avoid the public gaze. Whether you think it's "right" for her to end up like this or not, the right thing to do is leave her alone and let her live her life.

Honestly she gives me Jenna McCarthy, Gwenneth Paltrow vibes where everything's about holistic medicine and crystals, and vaccines are a poison that gum up the inside of anyone who gets them. It tends to be a pattern that manifests in thin, white actresses who've latched onto this particular brand of holistic medicine in a weirdly religious way once the peak of their popularity has waned. Like idk, it's surprising that Evangeline Lilly went down this path, but it certainly fits a stereotype.

I can definitely relate, TC. This is why I don't think I would ever pursue a girl at work, I'm not lucky in love at all and if things go especially wrong - which they tend to do - I would probably have to leave my job as a way of getting away from what happened and healing from the experience.

You seem like you're being proactive about your work situation, which is good. But I think it's probably a good policy going forward to keep your work life and love life seperate. Like imagine being so upset by a potential breakup that you have to find a new job. This scenario made you feel a bit weird, and you're taking steps to mitigate that weirdness. But imagine if the fallout was so nuclear you knew you couldn't stay at the company.

I hope this works out for you TC. Whatever you have to do to cut the tie and numb yourself to the situation.

That 19 year old is a POS.
I'd agree with you if Elon Musk didn't spend every waking moment trying to get attention. This is a guy who tries to sway public opinion on political policy, and he unabashedly targets innocent people with slanderous claims if he perceives them as standing in his way. Dude is legitimately a billionaire who tries to ruin your average Joe because he gets his feelings hurt.

Remember when he said that the US should be allowed to fund a coup in Venezuela, saying "the US should be able to coup anywhere it wants"? Remember when that Brazilian children's soccer team was trapped in a cave, he made a big song and dance about providing technology to save them, and the man leading the rescue efforts rejected his shitty attention-grabbing antics which led to Elon Musk calling him a pedophile? Have you seen what Elon Musk has done with his account to fuck with cryptocurrency prices?

People write bots on Twitter all the time. There's one as a part of a project called Politiwoops that tracks politicians, and when they delete a tweet, the bot reposts that tweet and hosts it on an external website with info about when it was made and when it was deleted. People do it on other platforms to repost content.

I can understand why Elon Musk is upset about having his flights tracked by this random-ass kid. I sure wouldn't want my movement to be surveilled to that degree. But there are a couple reasons why I'm not particularly sympathetic towards him in particular, and I think it's funny that this kid is asking for more than the simple amount of hush money initially offered. Kid has brass balls, and Elon Musk is a little bitch. As far as I'm concerned, this is really funny.

I dont know how you came to that opinion, but maybe I missed some news about her involvement in child murders. If she really directly participated in such an operation, then it would be unforgivable. On the other hand, if youre implying that simply having served in the IDF directly links Gadot to murder, then that would be as weird and unreasonable as me saying that non-aboriginal Australians are murderers because they are citizens of a country that used force to establish their country.

It wouldnt make sense, so lets not do that.
I'll admit that the last part was there for the sake of being provocative, though there was a rationale there involving an incident in 2014 where an IDC missile killed four people in Gaza, including two Palestinian children who were playing soccer on the beach. I was under the impression that Gal Gadot was involved in the incident due to her past serving in the IDC - I was wrong about her involvement.

Rather, the controversy stemmed from a scene in Wonder Woman 84 where two kids are playing soccer and a missile flies at them, but Wonder Woman deflects the missile and saves their lives. This didn't sit well with people who are familiar with the conflict between Israel and Palestine, especially considering that Gal Gadot served in the same armed force that led to the death of children through missile strikes - specifically one event which closely mirrored events of the movie, except in real life, the side Gadot was on fired the missile and those children died.

But frankly, calling Gal Gadot a child murderer was a step too far and I was wrong in thinking she was directly involved in the 2014 missile strike. The idea was that I'd make a really well thought out post and then post something stupid and provocative right at the end, but the base for my final comment was totally off and I don't want my entire post to be discredited with such a dumb throwaway comment. I kinda shat the bed on that one, though I stand by everything else I said before bringing Gal Gadot up out of nowhere.

It would have been pretty good without Venom. Eddie Brock is the worst part of the movie, and his inclusion is what really fucks the balance up.

Concluding the Harry Osborne story? Pretty great. Sandman? Looks great, fights are great, character is sympathetic and well-realized. Those two plot points work in tandem. The conflict between Harry and Peter over the Spiderman persona gels with Peter's conflict over Flint Marko, a man who was involved with Uncle Ben's killing. And the symbiote is the glue holding it all together.

It wouldn't have been perfect, but it would have been much better without Venom. The symbiote should have set up Eddie Brock for Spiderman 4, but by using executive influence to force Venom into the movie which already had two villains, it weakened the movie to the point of the reputation it has today.

I just think Spiderman 3 would have been a 7.7 score on IMDB instead of a 6.2. It wouldn't have surpassed Spiderman 2, but I don't think it would have killed the franchise.

Absolutely. I think in both its imagery and plot, what it conveys is so nihilistic and crushing that children probably shouldn't be exposed to it.

Granted, catching it on TV or finding it online is a completely valid way for a minor to watch the movie. At that point they're actively seeking it out, and they're gonna get it anyway. But as far as ratings go, NC17 seems appropriate.

From its inception, Israel was pitched as an apartheid state. I can understand Jews wanting a homeland, with the area that their predecessors settled being in Palestine, but everything they're doing to the Palestinian people who've been living there for generations is wrong.

And the thing is, Israel was established after WWII and for decades they've had Israel as their homeland. It came at the price of Palestinian lives and was enforced with guns and soldiers, but Israel is there now. It's understandable that Palestine and Israel aren't on friendly terms.

But here's the thing - Israelis have Israel. Palestinians have Palestine. The two countries exist, and things have been that way for a couple of generations now.

So why is Israel expanding further into Palestine?

Why are IDF soldiers arresting Muslim holy-men and their families, evicting them from their homes without letting them pack their belongings, and demolishing the house with generations worth of photos, writing, possessions and documents?

Israel exists. But they should be content with what they have. Instead, they accrued military force, and they're conducting ethnic cleansing against the Palestinian people.

They could have let Palestine have the Gaza strip. They could have erected their borders and declared Israel their homeland, and worked on their political relationship with Palestine to have a mutually beneficial travel agreement for Israelis to visit Jeruselum and for Muslims to visit the Dead Sea and other religious sites. But to this day, they walk into Palestine and stomp on the heads of children in the name of ethnic cleansing. It's disgusting.

To attribute this to all Jews is to compare all Muslims to Osama bin Laden - it's an extremist and erroneous statement, and it breeds bigotry. In no way are my comments intended to be a slight against the Jewish religion and its practitioners, the same way my comments against the CCP are not intended to be a bigoted slight against the people of China who have to live under that authoritarian government. What I'm criticising is a state, and the violence which that state perpetrates. There are Zionists, but there are Jewish people who understand the atrocities that the state of Israel commit against the Palestinian people and disagree with it.

But there's no way around it. The state of Israel has been committing completely unnecessary acts of violence and power against Palestine for decades, and what they're committing against those people now is ethnic cleansing. Israel is seizing land from Palestine, arresting/killing Palestinians who are legally settled there - whose lineage goes back centuries - and destroying their homes so they have nowhere to live. Israel is engaging in a campaign of ethnic cleansing, and for all the squabbles and issues they've had with Palestine in the past, such an egregious, illegal and vulgar display of power is wrong and should not be tolerated by the people of the world.

Also fuck Gal Gadot, as far as I'm concerned she's a child murderer.
