Like sure, there are songs with grander statements and more lavish production. There's a whole spectrum of romantic music for all occasions, and your favourite love song can be affected by what stage of a relationship you're interested in the most - pre-relationship pining, domestic bliss, remiscing on a prior relationship etc. But I challenge you to find a song that's as poignant as Same Old Lang Syne.

It's nostalgic, it's sweet, and it feels so grounded. Two exes sharing a six pack of beer, catching up, and wondering how things might have gone if circumstances had been different. I dunno - it's just such a bittersweet concept, and outside of the implication of drunk-driving, the song feels timeless.

Its not just Cats in the Cradle, a lot of Harry Chapin's music is poignant, grounded and bittersweet. I'd recommend checking out some of his stuff TC.

This is one of the Christmas songs I hate the most.
I only heard it last year on a Jonathan Coulton cover album. Excellent song along with If You Could Read My Mind. I can totally understand hating this song if it's a popular holiday song, I just didn't have any exposure to it for 23 years.

Country Roads
It is a very nice song, but I feel like it's been memed to death by now. I will say for all the horseshit that Fallout 76 ended up being, the version of Country Roads they made for that game is fucking incredible. It's just such a great song on its own, and now with Fallout 76 being the mess it's been, the song's earnest pining for an untouched, idyllic place of beauty you remember it being carries that much more weight.

I swear I've heard the latter song in an episode of One Hit Wonderland.

I think I've been soured on the age song thanks to that "7 Years" turd. I can dig this well enough though, I swear this is in an episode of Scrubs or something. If it isn't, it sounds like it would fit right in. Really like the sound.

I haven't actually sat down and listened to Cat's In The Cradle since the primary source of my music intake was online radio. I also have a friend who fucking hates this song, which makes it impossible to digest in a social setting - it'll come on and he'll change the song in the blink of an eye. Honestly I'm a bitch about a bunch of other songs, so w/e
