I've lived right across the river in Bloomfield and I've lived in Louisiana. New Orleans is garbage, not to mention a high risk of getting shot on any given night. The streets and people literally smell.

If by "rich" you're referring to closing tax loopholes that allow billion dollar big business to get away with paying minimal tax, then yes, pretty much everyone agrees.

But what ends up happening is marginal tax rates for upper bracket people increase. Again these are all people that already pay the highest tax rates of anyone else and is already paying their fair share. So claiming these people aren't paying their fair share is just lying and essentially fake news.

And tax advantages for businesses honestly need to stay in place for small businesses to thrive. I'm talking about big business which needs to either pay its workers better wages and benefits or pay the government so the government can take care of those things.

I know everyone here gets all overly sensitive about this stuff. But if you threaten the middle class and upper middle class, they will simply vote the other way. These people are swing voters that will dictate the elections. So democrats, enjoy your power but if you start dividing your own base, its not going to end well. We're going to see Trump part 2.

I went to a top-5-10 public HS in california, top-50 public HS in the country. So everyone the people I was around had extraordinary work ethic and smarts. Even the dumb kids in my class ended up having decent careers, which I attribute to the fact that if you did 4 years at my HS, you're standards are going to be higher than everyone else. So even if you skimmed by and barely made it, you'll come out better than kids who did okay at average or below average highschools.

It was cheaper back then. Bought a 100 pack of blades and the disposal box.

I have not had to buy anything else since, other than shaving cream. I also don't shave every day - I just line up my beard 1-2 times per week. More before the pandemic, less since I started wearing a mask in public.

I love it, but I'm gonna switch to a straight blade. You get a better line and better shave that way.

I have everything in common with common people. I come from a long ancestory of farmers, teachers, and blue collar workers, which is why I have that mentality that if you're not working yourself into the ground you're a beta.

You don't have to buy a house to move. I did a 2 min search for LV - you can rent a decent apartment for <600 per month. Theres plenty of no-qualification full time job postings that pay >$15/hr. Thats 2400 per month salary. Enough to pay rent, bills, basic things, and save a bit. At 40 hours per week, thats plenty of time to do some schooling on the side, either trade school or whatever career you choose. And eventually go into a better paying job. Theres also no state income tax there and you'll be surrounded by decent people for the most part. And theres plenty of things to do and good food to eat that isn't super expensive.

Bro, moving is not that hard. Just look for jobs, once you get one, the rest falls in line. In my adult life, after college, I've moved like 5 times and this june it'll be my 6th.

I also lived in Las Vegas which is a major transplant city. I met so many people from all over the country who moved there with no previous connection to the city.

I would recommend LV to anyone. Its cheap living, and clark county voted against Trump twice. City is expanding rapidly. Its still affordable now but your real estate investments will pay off in the next 10-20 years.

Its just a matter of getting out of your comfort zone. Once you're settled into a new area you realize what you were missing out on.

August peak was 400 new cases per day (29 cases per 100k) and its trending down nicely, last week 260 cases per day (13 cases per 100k. Current deaths average about 2 per day (total population of 1.9 million). Plenty of ICU beds available. 87% have had at least 1 vaccine age 12 and up...wow. And everyone wears a mask everywhere you go.

Compare that to somewhere like Dallas where theres 1300 new cases a day (50 cases per 100k), 56% vaccinated, over half the people don't wear masks. They're getting 13 deaths per day, and ICUs are pretty much all at capacity. On top of all this, deaths and hospitalizations are still trending up.
