in my 2x years experience as a gay dude it's common because for some reason there is a large section of the female population that wants to have a gay best friend. it's actually one of the first things girls usually tell me when they find out im gay. most of my straight male friends have little to no opinion on lesbians or they are friends with them but ive never heard one of them say they really want a lesbian friend.

Thanks for the input. Yeah, that makes sense. The women I know seem very proud of their gay friends and love to include them in whatever theyre doing. I have never heard any of my guy friends say they care at all about lesbians, let alone to have them as close friends. Maybe thats why we, straight guys, get criticized sometimes for fantasizing about lesbians having sex, considering we dont appreciate them in any other way.

My experience: every woman I know has at least one, sometimes two, very close male friends who are also gay. Not bear gay... gay gay, as in effeminate gay. Not a single guy I know has a very close lesbian friend. Yes, they get along with lesbians and have them as classmates or coworkers. But they are not in the best friends category, which the gay guys are. I dont know why this is, but I never really gave it much thought until TC made this thread.

Blizzard basically started giving away things that were once difficult to get. For example, several epic mounts were only available by having certain levels of PvP honor that you gained mostly in the battlegrounds. This was a grueling process, so I felt like I earned the mounts by being committed enough to fight for them as a non-guild player over months of game time. Eventually one of the patch updates made it so you could run easy dungeons and turn in the badge rewards for the mounts. To me, that made the PvP pointless. (This was years ago, and I never went back.)
