Current Events > I decided to start playing Dark Souls 3 again.

I feel like I'm done with Bloodborne, but I'm not done with the soulsborne series. So, I fired up Dark Souls 3, because I never really played it on PS4. I wanted to try and recreate my character from Bloodborne in it, and I figured that the sliders would transfer over moderately well. Turns out that it doesn't.

I tried following another person's sliders for character creation, and ended up with a frog faced abomination. So, I ended up spending at least an hour playing with sliders to make my character.



Going from Bloodborne's incredibly fast reflex and twitch response time to Dark Souls 3's more patiently methodical pace is very jarring. I'm missing being able to shoot people from a distance and having them stagger. I spent more time than I care to admit dying to the tutorial boss because I was using him to familiarize myself with the game's pace again.

from my experience, it's easier to make a good looking character in Dark Souls 3 than it is in Bloodborne, but they still end up looking plastic

I think Dragon Age Inquisition offered better results somehow, but I give ya credit for trying with DS III.

Anyway, I dont know if I will ever finish it. Got stuck at about two hours in and realized I was just fatigued from Souls games after marathoning the other three and their DLCs. Good luck with your attempt.

It also looks like the giraffe neck is sprouting out of a fucking flesh-colored Thwomp.

I just recently played through and beat Dark Souls III. There were a few troublesome areas for me (like the swamp area), but all in all it wasn't too bad. I even managed to beat the hidden (and hardest) boss in the game on my second try (although to be fair I power leveled to like LV140 and even then I was down to almost no life when I won).

It was great. Definitely better than 2, but not as good as 1 and Bloodborne.

I think I had kind of a revelation when making him: people tend to either try and make someone who looks normal or pretty, or they just go full blown nonsense blob of ugly. With him, I made him have exaggerated goofy features, but not so over the top, so it just made him seem more like a cartoon character but one that could reasonable exist.

He does have to always wear the tophat too, it's just a must.

I'm glad they started letting you edit your appearance and make presets. Because when I get a new Souls game, man the last thing I want to do is spend a lot of time making a character's face. I want to dive straight into playing.

So my characters tend to look lame, first ones I mean. >_>

Except my Demon's Souls one who basically looks like an evil version of my Saints Row 2 character with demonic eyes.

I'm doing an SL1 runthrough at the moment.

Tearing it up with a raw Broadsword. Apparently the Astora Straight Sword absolutely destroys everything too.

The Astora Straight Sword used to be the best choice for an SL1 run, but it got nerfed. Raw Broadsword is probably the best weapon, but the Dragonslayer Axe is good to use against several of the stronger bosses.

High Lord Wolnir is the most disappointing boss. He looks so fucking badass and scary but you kill him in 3 hits before he can even grab his sword
