FD's right about the system being dumb. It's not cause it's hard or ambiguous though it's cause it drags the combat system's speed to an unbearably slow pace. Mostly cause the combination of a bunch of hits don't do more than "attack" in your typical rpg but the animations take 4x as long.

By the way this game is SO BAD if it wasn't clear.

They have attitude vs current as the theme because nostalgia sells and there's a good excuse that WWE will accept the pitch with Cena vs Rock being topical a few months ago, which is what that represented.

And so here we are. Not too complicated. Attitude era roster is pretty weird though. Why is Bret Hart on it and how is Goldust not on it.

I don't think I've ever finished a game of Civ in under 100 hours

What.

While 3 hours is weird for anything that isn't a culture rush I've never come anything close to this number. Most I've ever taken is like 20 hours on a domination victory on a huge earth map with 17 rivals (Civ IV's Earth scenario). If you play with less opponents/not a huge map/don't go for domination it's quicker.

It's actually amazing how reliably FFX can make image statements I tend to like totally unappealing (see also: Lulu)

And don't even get me started with the great opportunity they dropped with the Dark Knight Rikku dressphere.

I'm well aware Colette is actually one of the best in battle if you can use her but it's just not very satisfying to pull off even if you're piling on the damage. Just doesn't feel fluid. (and the AI is terrible with her)

And yeah I was saying "probably a bad idea" cause I for some reason don't expect myself to finish it again. It's been okay nostalgia so far though, even though I just barely (needed to get those silver points for the extra cat and the two toys) entered 600 AD right now.

I actually manually control Sheena sometimes. She's got the second best gameplay (behind Lloyd of the 9000 hit combo, obviously) for me. Chaining seals together is kinda fun. Regal and Colette feel awkward, Zelos/Kratos are okay but I don't like how their stuff comboes outside of LIGHTNING BL->SUPER LIGHTNING BLADE, Presea is too damn slow (and Presea), and Raine/Genis are casters.

I actually don't dislike Genis that much, to be honest. Like he has his terrible moments but he recovers to some extent. But I always considered myself slightly deviant on that matter. But let's be honest, if your team doesn't have Lloyd Sheena Zelos it's broken.

Also uhhh random note I started playing CTDS (which I've had for years) because of this topic. Probably a bad idea.

Paine isn't that bad. I don't agree that she helps that much for diabetes but she's not that bad. More tolerable than Yuna and Rikku in that game at least.

Also uhhh Big Show could've done a beatdown on a dude who isn't Brodus Clay to improve the segment for one. Someone who Show could actually toss around and really make the beatdown look good... someone like... like...

... man there aren't very many faces in the midcard are there. The reason Show beat Clay and Awesome Truth was that was all the remotely credible non me faces they have (other than Santino who was beat down earlier in the show), I guess. Yikes.

I'm thinking about this in terms of show quality not "quality booking." WWE needs to prioritize show quality first right now because they're on a downward trend here. It'll take a while for the ratings to hit but I would be good money it's going to happen soon.

And Sting coming in to attack Roode was after a very well constructed main event. There's nothing wrong with a little post-match beatdown for a statement but when it comes at the expense of your main attraction that's terrible.

It's not a good match on paper for like, quality, but like, I was actually kinda curious how strong each side would come out looking, and if it was a squash, either side being squashed would be satisfying.

Caved and watched Raw. Was better than last week's but that "main event" was terrible. Also Punk/Bryan while "technically" looking like it should be a good match on paper had too much focus on AJ for my tastes and was pretty tame in general so even that was a bit of a letdown.

Definitely swapping over to SD next week.

Also huh I need to play the DS remake. A big part of the reason I've never been a Frog fan is because of his stupid "accent." I felt like Cyan did it to a point where it was funny but not completely overdone, and Frog was just ridiculous to the point where it became obnoxious.

Yeah I think the fleshed out KH lore is what really gives KH legs and doesn't make it feel like senseless fanfiction, so I'm going to go with the original stuff as being best there.

Edgar is the best FF6 character (and the main character for those keeping score at home-- not Terra or Celes)

Best CT party is Magus Robo Lucca gotta rep that OMEGA FLARE. (more like it's the only team that has a Magus triple tech that doesn't involve Marle... though actually those might be my three favorite characters anyway come to think of it)

Never got the whole "Garfield is never funny" angle. Now I haven't read any in the last 10 years, but while the humor is subtle sometimes it's there pretty often. Especially since a lot of the same people turn around and praise Calvin and Hobbes which I feel has this problem a lot more often. Calvin and Hobbes often feels more creative/interesting than funny. (and I actually like Calvin and Hobbes, mind you, just saying it lacks funny a lot of the time).

Although really, most Sunday morning comics are bad. There are a ton out there a lot less funny than Garfield or Calvin and Hobbes.

Though that's also not really that great because it makes some discussions hard to follow. I've done it with a couple of people that I know will never engage in any sort of meaningful discussion and spammed the board with bad topics in the past, but yeah, it's not something to use often.

I don't necessarily think it's all pseudo-anonymity that's to blame for people taking more shots at people than you might expect. There's also the fact that well, not everyone on this board would necessarily associate with everyone else on the board. You're going to naturally take more jabs at someone that rubs you the wrong way-- you try to avoid those people in "real life" but around here it's not so easy, because if a jerk or dumbass or whatever is hanging around it's not like you can really, leave and ignore them, cause they're always around b8. It's not quite compartmentalized enough yet that ignoring people is a viable option, especially if they worm your way into a compartment you happen to be fond of.

Basically what I'm saying is we're not all friends here, so the "real life" card doesn't apply for more reasons than one. Unless a lot of you tend to socialize with people you dislike routinely. In which case I don't see why you're so concerned with stepping on toes. Being confrontational is good sometimes. So sayeth the fortune cookie.

Yeah I feel d3 could use a better indicator that you're taking damage. Seems like it happens way too often that I'm taking damage I don't realize it as quickly as I rightly should if my eyes aren't exactly on my character.

Like I realize they didn't want it to be "loud" but the "ugh" "oof" sound effects of d2 really helped drive home "you're getting hit"

I actually think Eric Young's goofball character is fine, to be honest. The problem is he needs a straight man, not someone who tries to out-idiot him in ODB (or Orlando Jordan). Like I think Eric Young's segment with Sting like 2 months ago was actually funny.

Eric Young had a match this week that was better than the majority of the matches on Raw. Mostly because WWE is afraid to do matches that aren't squashes these days for whatever reason.

Also because Eric Young also decided that he could use offense against women without breaking them, but that's besides the point.
