Heenan you always could buy as a commentator because as you said there's a consistency and a logic (of a man with no scruples, so it was easy to disagree even if he was technically right) behind everything he said. Corey Graves is just a mindless shill for all the heels that has gotten more blatant about it over time. He just regurgitates catchphrases and praises everything they do without any in match/situation justification given. His version of Hulk Hogan is Sasha Banks which is a good analog to the relative ability of the commentators. He is the biggest guy to me (other one being Lance Storm) that people will often refer to in the "vanilla midget" discussions that I couldn't disagree with more. And keep in mind I am someone who can and will hate on vanilla midgets when I think it applies. Cause yeah like you said that intensity was a character. His uniquely brutal and efficient looking wrestling style was a character. You don't need amazing mic skills if you're just cutting a 70 second promo-- you just need to come off as believable. And he did do that better than most-- I would put his promos as much better than Chris Benoit's for example despite at their heart being similar characters. --- No problem! Becky basically says "I am going to win, yeahhhh!" -- this makes her come off as delusional because how often does this actually happen. Bayley basically says "Uhhh... I can win" -- which yeah, more realistic, but goober mode. Something more like a Heath Slater type is where you want to go. Slater basically says "I am going to FIGHT, yeahhhh!" which is exactly where Becky should be imo. It's a subtle difference but one I think would make a ton of difference for how likable her character is, and one I think could be done without "disobeying the script" or whatever. A bit less outright confidence of victory displayed, but with more BURNING PASSION to compensate for the fact that you may not necessarily be favored to win. --- No problem! | Lopen 07/16/18 1:14:25 PM #331 | Liger's awesome. I think the biggest underrated thing about Liger is his charisma, and that he showed so much of it while being masked. Not saying you didn't give him his props for that, but in general I'm not sure people do. I've watched old Japanese wrestling with friends who aren't really into it, and they all instantly find themselves rooting for Liger over anyone on the show, even the Chris Benoit types they're more familiar with. As for Becky... I've kinda soured on her over time. While it is easy to just blame the booking, it's also partially her promos and partially her presentation. The problem is she wants to be taken seriously, yet I can't possibly take her seriously when she never wins for any sustained period of time or in any high leverage situations. She basically comes off as a blowhard, which is what you don't want a character like Becky who's supposed to be a lovable babyface to come off as. I'm not saying she even necessarily needs to be booked as a huge threat, but she needs adjust her promo style and character a bit to address this dissonance between how she acts and what she achieves. Compare her to say, Bayley, and I feel Bayley comes off as a lot more humble even while believing in herself, which plays to her position on the card in a more realistic way, despite being a lot more of a goober than Becky. All that being said she's good and I don't disagree with what you like about her, but I do feel like you've given her more of a pass for "potential" vs what she's actually done than you have a lot of the lower ranked people on the list. So more than a little overrated on this list to be sure but I do at least like her so I won't rip into it too hard. --- No problem! This is a cute and pop genocide of love! |

Heaven's Feel looks pretty viable to MLB as I only need to draw one more but I'm not sure how good it really is and it's hitting steep EXP requirements. I was tentatively going to level it to 100 but I wonder if welfares aren't stronger. All other 5* CE with more than one are welfare CE. --- No problem! This is a cute and pop genocide of love! |

That's really the only cute trick you can do that isn't 100% intuitive (it costs less QP to level up low level CEs and you get 100% transfer of accumulated EXP if you feed a leveled CE into another one) Other than that there isn't much of a trick other than praying for great successes. I dunno I just haven't drawn many 5* CEs that are worthwhile in multiples (have a few decent ones at 20 or 40 level) but don't want to squander this bonus EXP. | Lopen 07/14/18 12:51:46 AM #289 | I will say I think AJ did a few things well 1. She could talk okay. Had good flow. And cadence when she wasn't trying to be OH CRAZY. 2. As I said the submissions were decent looking when she did them 3. I liked her selling a lot. Watching AJ get rag dolled all over the place was very fun The problem is she sabotaged herself out of 1 and 2 by not having a good idea of what she was good at and just doing what she was a fan of. While in theory a good AJ match could occur she'd be throwing out these clumsy backhands and the opponent would have to sell them-- Ric Flair could get a good match out of a broom but he couldn't get a good one out of AJ Lee for this reason. And while she in theory could cut a good promo she wouldn't because her character was utterly unbelievable or she was dropping cringey "pipe bombs" or whatever else. She was a fangirl first a wrestler second. And yeah it made her really painful to watch. Honestly if her selling was not good it would be really hard to put her above much in that battle royal or whatever other than like Cameron. And it still is, really. I can't honestly say she's better than Rosa Mendes and be fully confident in it because I think AJ Lee's ability to tank a segment was much greater-- but I can't honestly say Rosa Mendes is better either cause at least AJ Lee was good at some things. --- No problem! There are a few that I'm on the fence of. And then of Rock's list Beth and Eve also if they counted (though Eve is another great example of a woman not playing to her strengths-- if she just cut the high risk maneuvers out of her moveset entirely she would have been pretty decent) And then Paige who is on none of the lists.
