I think you're projecting here.

pot, kettle, as the rest of your post proves

the one who's trying to force opinions is you, because all I've said is that I love 1-3, and you had to dig through Reddit and other boards to try to prove that no, 1-3 is crap and everyone agrees with you

It's kind of cool to be able to sit in on a Holmes interview with one of his clients. It really felt like a scene from one of the stories.

Also, this is the first time they've even made an indirect reference to Mrs. Hudson, the landlady, which kinda surprises me, now that I think about it. I guess there was no reason to make a sprite of her if she isn't going to be involved in the game, but I figured Holmes would at least mention her name or something.

Also "6-2 is seen as the best second case and it's not even close." CITATION NEEDED.

his observations make me think he gleans all his AA opinions from the Spirit of Justice board because he seems to think the fanbase thinks everything SoJ is the best

How things are done well are influenced by nostalgia.

if you're going to dismiss any positive thoughts about 1-3 as nostalgia because you personally do not like it then this conversation serves no purpose

if AAI was the first game the series does not still exist, it just is not as good of a game as PW1 (or any game in the series except AJ) and that would not change if it came first

Who do you think is more liked?

Several, but if you want me to name the most popular, it's Luke Atmey and I doubt it's particularly close.

It's obviously not anywhere close to exact but it does give a slight indication to the general feel of what others think. I mean, all you and him have are just your personal anecdotes anyway.
And tbf, I do believe Roger is generally considered the best filler villain among the overall fanbase.

I mean, that entire list is literally personal anecdotes.

And no, he isn't. I love the guy, but he's not considered that by the fanbase.

I mean, E1-2 also had a moment where Franziska comes through but nobody cares because it's been done so many times already.

No, nobody cares because it wasn't nearly as dramatic of a moment. She pulled pictures off of a broken cell phone camera. Not quite in the same league as possibly literally saving Phoenix and Maya's lives. Again, you're overinflating how big these things actually are.

Just being unique doesn't make E1-2 a good case. It's not a good case. 1-3 doesn't just get points for doing things "first." It gets points for doing them well. E1-2 does very little well compared to other cases.

Ah yes, we have some more references to The Red-Headed League, and much more blatant this time around, with Holmes actually dyeing his hair red (naturally, he isn't fooled by this scam in the story). The exact details are different here, of course, but the league turns out to be a scam in both cases.

Nah, 1-3 has a lot more good moments going for it than E1-2, with or without nostalgia. Gumshoe and Edgeworth saving the day alone puts it over E1-2.

anyway back to G2-4, I think I'd be down for a GAA prequel in the style of AAI featuring Holmes/Mikotoba, and you could include Jigoku and Genshin as well, obviously

no chance it happens but it'd be great

Moving on to G2-4, the title of the case is "Twisted Karma and His Last Bow." I'm wondering if Twisted Karma is supposed to be a play on Kazuma's sword, Karuma, but I'm not sure.

But "His Last Bow" is the final story in the Holmes canon in terms of chronology (although not the final one ever written by Doyle). Most Holmes stories take place in the late 1800s or early 1900s, but this one takes place shortly before the start of World War I (Doyle published the story in 1917, so you could almost view the story as wartime propaganda). It's also one of only two Holmes stories that isn't written from Watson's perspective. It's written in third person, and it's more of a spy story than a mystery. Holmes assumes the alias "Altamont" during this story, which showed up as the name of the gas company in G2-2.

Whew, G2-3 complete at last. What a great case. You can tell when Takumi knew it was time to get serious because the multi-witness testimonies went away on the second day (even when Drebber, Sithe, and Tusspells were all up there, only one person was giving testimony at a time), and the jury was barely noticeable. Up to now, they tend to bog the case down, but they were actually put to good use this time.

(Shoutouts to stuff like that one line in AA3 where the Judge gets Godot's name wrong, thereby teaching the reader how to correctly pronounce Godot's name)

Yeah, I love stuff like that. It's really well done way to convey pronunciation in a non-vocal medium.

also when the heck did the waxwork Professor model get into the courtroom, Ryunosuke just points and suddenly it's there

I wonder what the significance is of Drebber's words randomly being in orange. Usually orange text is meant to highlight something important, but not for him. Is it supposed to highlight some verbal tic? Maybe some sort of mechanical voice since he moves around like a robot or something? I dunno!

Also sickest burn in the game so far:

Ryunosuke: But how is it possible to construct a machine without really understanding the principles it relies on?

Drebber: Well, you're practicing law without really understanding the principles it relies on, aren't you?

One of the things that's consistent with the Doyle's portrayal of Holmes is his, uh, "selective memory." He says that the human mind only has so much space for knowledge, so anything he has no use for, he "deletes" to make room for other things, including details of his past cases.

In the first book, there's a humorous exchange between Holmes and Watson when the latter learns that the former is unaware that the earth revolves around the sun instead of the other way around, and Holmes says the knowledge makes no practical difference in his life, so he sees no need to commit it to memory.

Harebrayne being blindfolded before being taken by carriage to Drebber's workshop is a trope used in two high tier Holmes stories, "The Engineer's Thumb," and "The Greek Interpreter."

Enoch Drebber comes from the name of a victim in the very first Holmes story, "A Study in Scarlet," for the record.

I like the ethical dilemma Ryunosuke is put in where he has to decide whether to pursue his theory that the entire experiment was a ruse against his client's wishes, or acknowledge Harebrayne's confession in order to protect his machine, even though he knows it's wrong.

The GAA games are almost like one giant homage to 2-4 in one way or another.

also this has easily been the best jury so far, four testimonies without randomly calling for a verdict and they're actually helpful to the case

The name of the Bohemian boy is Wilhelm Gottsreich Sigismond Ormstein, which is the name of the King of Bohemia who visited Sherlock Holmes in the appropriately titled story, "A Scandal in Bohemia," although there was also a "von" before Ormstein. He wore a mask to disguise his identity, much like this boy does in this case.

also Gina says "That's the twentieth century for ya," so we're at least in the 1900s!
