also I hope we'll get a second season of the Nagato spinoff now that the manga is officially finished

I will consume virtually anything Haruhi-related that comes out just to show my support for the franchise (although thankfully it's all good stuff)

I have all the books, all the Nagato manga, and all the Haruhi-chan manga. I was excited to find out a new Haruhi-chan is coming out at the end of this year!

yeah I have no interest in that prequel

And the anime was pretty faithful to the books in terms of the overall plot. They didn't change too much. The only one that's noticeably different from the book is Remote Island Syndrome. You don't start encountering new material until book 5, but it's totally worth it.

also who knew Saudi Arabia was such a Tales of Symphonia stronghold

The last day was amazing.

Neku was an insufferable tool for most of the first arc, and he made Squall look like a people person. Trying to kill your partner just because some random dude told you to? Ugh, the worst.

Yeah, I don't think I've ever reversed an opinion on a character more than I did with Neku (even more than Luke fon Fabre, yes, who was mostly just obnoxious for the first part of the game). I hated Neku during most of the first arc, but I really liked him a lot by the end.

This is Dagger's worst finish ever, whether by raw numbers or percentage. Even when she doesn't get a high placement, she's rarely far below the middle of the pack. She has eight top 25 finishes (five of those consecutive), including back to back top 5 finishes. Dagger is also one of the rare characters with multiple top 5s who has never made a final. She hasn't had a top 25 finish since CXIII though. Regardless, her STATS are very good, so this one hurts a bit. With this performance, Dagger drops from 68.07% to 65.95%, sliding past Auron and Edgar to land at 18th place, narrowly ahead of Tifa.

Her numbers in the New Era aren't quite as good. There, she falls from 63.60% to 58.00% even, dropping past Hope, Faris, Laguna, Terra, Jecht, and Rinoa to land at 30th place.

He didn't include Resident Evil 4 because it wasn't in this poll:

https://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/5632-13-years-after-its-original-release-whats-your-all-time

And for the current poll he just used the same options as that one.

Also, I was cross-comparing the polls, and Melee's lost quite a bit of ground between the two polls (about 7%), mostly to Prime and Wind Waker. That's kinda surprising.

That moment actually kinda turned me around on the guy because I thought that scene was really well done. I mean, he's still not good, but it was enough to make him the best Moon, at least.

It was also the first time I had to go into Mementos to face a Shadow for a Confidant, so I think that left a bigger impression on me as a result.

Nah, gotta be Ryo/An now. It's nice that everyone is getting paired off neatly.

Chizuru the best though

I found myself laughing out loud and just saying "Chizuru you're the best" probably close to 100 times watching and reading ReLIFE

I am a weird person

But I can also really relate to Chizuru in terms of her flaws, perhaps even more than Kaizaki. I totally understand her character and why she feels and acts the way she does.

To expand on this a little from earlier, Chizuru becomes a lot more compelling as a character once they no longer have to hide that she's a ReLIFE subject because they can let you into her head and show you her thought process a lot more.

plus her relationship with Kaizaki becomes super adorable to the point that there's no way any other ship is acceptable

Other than Lightning, Hope is the only FFXIII character who's been able to have consistent success. He has three top 25 finishes in six contests, including one top 10. He does have a couple of mediocre performances to counterbalance that, but Hope has mostly done well for himself. However, due to his small resume, this poor finish hurts him quite a bit. Hope tumbles in the STATS from 69.07% to 62.39%, dropping from 16th to 24th place.

Hope's numbers are the same in the New Era, but he only drops from 22nd to 25th because there are so few characters in the 60% range for some bizarre reason. He's narrowly behind Faris in the overall STATS, but he's narrowly ahead of her in the New Era.

okay to the best of my abilities it looks like I've caught up with ReLIFE so I will do some rankings

Kaizaki >= Chizuru > An > Rena > Ryo > Honoka > Oga

They're all really good, charming, and endearing characters though. Pretty sure there's not a bad character in this series. I'll have to keep an eye out for when new stuff is released from here on out.

New and Improved Female Character Rankings 2.0

Yakumo > Kurisu > Chizuru > Yukiko > Aqua > Makoto > Mitsuru > Yui > Shiori > Akane > Pepper > Namine > Mikasa > Eureka > Art3mis > Valentine > Vera > Elizabeth > Cora > Kotori

Maybe I'm just on an emotional high at the moment, but Chizuru is super good.
