Ah, the cryptic words of van Zieks at the end about his former Japanese friend make a lot more sense this time around!

Whew, nearly done with this case at last! I actually really liked Graydon as a culprit. He's slippery enough that it's satisfying to finally catch him, and then he manages to be pretty sympathetic afterwards.

yeah I'm honestly good with no juries in the main series

I think it's fine as a gimmick in GAA (although I have problems with it; the idea of the jury being able to randomly interject and vote guilty is pretty dumb) but it doesn't need to be a mainstay

Well, it may have brought things even lower.

That's assuming the news of a "rigged" jury even got out to the public, but based on how juries work in this series, "conflict of interest" doesn't seem to be a factor in these things anyway!

I'm not sure of the significance of the name Ashley Graydon (maybe "Ash Gray," as opposed to his sterling white appearance), but his original last name, Milverton, comes from a Holmes story called "The Adventure of Charles Augustus Milverton." I'd classify it as a high tier Holmes story, for the record.

I suppose the irony here is that Charles Augustus Milverton was a blackmailer, and in this case, Graydon's father was the victim of a blackmailer in Magnus McGilded.

maybe I should do a Holmes story ranking after I finish this case in the event anyone is actually interested in picking up Holmes after playing the games

I like that Graydon's "transformation" is merely removing his hat and throwing it at Ryunosuke.

The series kinda got carried away with transformations the last couple of games, so it's nice of them to scale it back a bit. Not every villain needs a big reveal!

also when it comes to prosecutors in the Ace Attorney world, I think we have to remember that trials end in mere days, so even by the age of 27, van Zieks may have already prosecuted over a hundred cases at that point, which would probably be enough to gain notoriety in legal circles

makes you wonder how many cases Manfred von Karma actually won over the course of 40 years

Hmmm...I didn't totally remember how everything in the omnibus really happened, so I was waiting for this part of the case to put everything in order. I couldn't remember if Gina was actually there or if the entire thing was a lie. She did say that the cops found her and forced her to testify, so that would imply that there was an inside job to get McGilded off with a not guilty verdict.

I'm guessing the big thud was the victim falling to the floor, but there wasn't actually any blood on the floor of the carriage at first, so that still confuses me. Gina says she had his blood all over her hands while she was sitting next to him, but in the image they show as she says this, she has no blood on her hands and he doesn't even have the knife sticking out of his chest, so that's a bit confusing as well.

I suppose I can believe Mason didn't bleed much at first because the weapon hadn't been pulled out, but it also doesn't explain how Gina got blood all over her hands. Did McGilded smear it all over her hands when he grabbed her out from under the seat or something? And then put on the gloves to cover his own hands? In any event, all the details still aren't adding up to me yet, but I know there's still more to come, so maybe that will clear things up.
