Got Shiny Cobalion on my Alt from battle reward, it's been a struggle to climb though. Currently 1750 ELO so I'm close to 8.

Pvp update!

Still rocking the Great League team of Arcanine Primeape and Sandslash on my second account.

Currently 74 wins and 51 losses for a 59.2% win rate. Progress has been slow since hitting 7, currently around 1700 ELO so rank 8 is still a ways off. I tend to finish with 3 wins much more now and struggle to get the encounter on 4 wins. I did get 1 Cobalion encounter already though so that was nice.

I even had a rare win against a comp with both Altaria and Azumarill but it was a damn near thing.

I'm trying to get a lot of games in now because I don't have a team that will be viable in Ultra League on my second account so I'll have to lay off once it rotates. My Ultra team on my main is solid though so I hope to be able to climb to 10 during the Ultra weeks.

How is everyone else doing?

iirc the first big nozdormu issue was with the Joust mechanic from The Grand Tournament. Play Noz. Drop the 1 mana Joust card and immediately end turn. Your opponent would be lucky if they could scramble an action if they got any time at all. Repeat.

At numerous times in the past people have combined nozdormu with unavoidable animations to literally steal an opponents turn while they wait for animations to resolve.

As far as I knew those interactions have all been fixed at this point, but I don't know for sure.

Whiscash I go to primeape and trade 1::1
Altaria I try to bait shields with primeape before he gets wrecked and then try to finish with rock tomb.

I don't have an answer for Azumarill. I would still try to do as much damage with primeape and pray that the remaining mons are fire weak. But in reality with this team i should never beat an Azumarill.

Mostly I get by because a lot of people are pretty awful at energy and shield management.

I am on a pvp win streak of 12 at the moment with the following team:

Arcanine:
Fire Gang
Crunch
Wild Charge

Purified Sandslash:
Mud Shot
Return
Rock Tomb

Primeape:
Counter
Night Slash

It's budget as all hell but has some how kept working. Arcanine and Primeape have been the MVPs by a long shot and sandslash is just sort of there. I plan to switch in vileplume for sandslash once I have enough oddish candy to do so.

Night Slash getting they 1/8 proc feels so good, especially because it's buffing such a strong fast move.

I played SO many rounds before the reset and I always got at least 3 wins but not anymore. I don't have any answer to altaria, azumarril and gyarados and it's all I'm running into right now

Also I've been getting the shit kicked out of me since the pvp league reset. I feel like I'm running into nothing but hard counters and I don't have the dust to put together the team I want yet.

Yeah they could have just said "incense will only spawn abra" during the CD hours or something along those lines.

I also like what Wizards Unite does. During their community days the Tonic of Trace Detection (aka incense) lasts half as long but causes things to show up twice as fast. It's really useful for getting those encounters.

My Alolan muk does all right but sometimes I get screwed and the timing works out where it gets knocked out as I'm queuing up the dark pulse that would even the bout. So it develops a massive advantage heading into the no shields remaining portion of the bout when I should have gone 1 for 1.

I don't have the dust to commit to a level 40 Wigglytuff right now either. But damn if it wouldn't be useful.

Is that just for hitting the optimal cp exactly, or is the reduced attack legitimately meaningful?

I use Calcy IV so I'll have to see if they have similar functions.

And Swampert in particular is used because its fast attack doesn't do a ton of damage but generates energy like nobody's business. As a result I generally build up a shield advantage. So with that role in mind I can see where the low attack helps, but Charizard is the opposite where his fast attacks put in just as much work as his charged. Would he lose value with a lower attack or is the difference negligible?

I'm still trying to get more understanding of the Pokemon Go battle system but there are still some mechanical details that still escape me.

For example is it better to have a higher or lower level Pokemon at the same cp? Imagine a Pokemon of max IVs and minimum IVs but the same cp. Is there any functional difference between them?

And clearly 2 Pokemon of the same CP are not created equally so what is it about the ratio of Attack, Defense, Stamina and level that would make one better than another?

I mean I do okay. My 2500 team is Swampert, Charizard and Alolan Mil, all with two charger moves available so with my comp and decent bar management I've been consistently winning 3 or 4 games out of 5. But I'm not even high enough to see my ELO yet.

Annnnd they just updated to indicate that ONLY fossil Pokemon will be hatching from 7k eggs for an undetermined amount of time so screw my Shiny Blissey Dream.

Not sure how badly I want a good fossil.

I got 0 shiny lickitung from the 6 free pass raids. My wife got 1.

BUT I got 3 of the 'hatch 3 eggs' quests from the stops. Which I finished during the 3 hour window. I want 2 sure if the boosted shiny rate applies to the luckitung from field research or just from the raids... But TWO out of THREE field research luckitung were shiny!

So I had an interesting Stardew experience today. Achievement Hunter does multiple live streams during the week, and today that stream consisted of Lindsay Jones (Michael's wife, voice actress for Ruby, etc) playing Stardew. Now as an Rooster Teeth First member that afforded me the opportunity to be in the chat on the RT site. They have it live on youtube as well, but that chat is too full and quick moving and doesn't have a paywall so even though they keep it up they aren't really monitoring it as closely as they do their own chat. I should also note that AH has done a few stardew videos, but they generally do not understand the game at all and are completely hopeless, Lindsay included. So I spend basically the entirety of the chat offering suggestions and trying to use CAPITAL LETTERS when saying IMPORTANT INFORMATION so it would catch her ATTENTION. As a result she actually read a fair number of my suggestions and actually mentioned me by name several times throughout the video. Now the thing to remember about Lindsay is she is also chaos incarnate when it comes to video games, so even when she acknowledges the thing that I said, more often than not she would get distracted by something and forget to actually implement the suggestion itself. Most notably though I got her to put her dang tools in the chest on the farm when she wasn't using them. She kept going fishing when she only had 2 or 3 inventory spots available and would have to run back and forth between the beach/river to drop them off, lol.

All in all though I thought it was pretty cool. I tweeted @ her afterwards to thank her for the stream and she even replied. It is a very good feeling to help share the mechanics of the game to someone who enjoys it. AH opens stuff that gets sent to them in the mail somewhat regularly so I might put together a stardew primer for her and the others and see if I can get them to at least understand the basics.
