We are California natives so we are familiar with the greatness of In N Out.

...but with that said we will likely eat there for one of our cheap meals before we go.

We saw Potted Potter tonight, which was the Harry Potter parody performance and it was absolutely hilarious. I think it would have been funny even if we weren't incredibly familiar with the source material, but being knowledgeable definitely enhanced it.

Still no firm plans for tomorrow though.

So apparently on Saturday they only do the Seafood Buffet which costs significantly more than even the Dinner price. Instead of doing that we ended up going to the buffet at The Palms which was quite good, but still a bit pricy.

I won't need food for like 24 hours though so there's that. Now we're killing some time until our harry potter parody show starts at Ballys at 8.

We had a buffet topic a bit ago and I'll throw this in again, in my opinion the best price to deliciousness ratio is a bit of a drive south of the strip at the M.

Also unsure if changed recently but for the cheap also one of the remaining places that doesn't close between meal periods so you can say pay for lunch at the very end and get dinner(which is only ever slightly different) for lunch prices.

@red13n their website indicates they transition from lunch to dinner at 2:30. What time would you recommend getting there? I don't know how strict they will be for the lunch pricing.

Lunch in the Stratosphere revolving restaurant, cheaper than dinner and I've done both, and prefer the clear daytime views to the lighted-up strip at night. I'm a "sights" kind of guy and 107 floors up, probably enjoy the clear sightlines all the way out to the mountains as much if not more than the strip.

We're here now. The view is fantastic! Great recommendation.

My wife and I are on a vacation to take in some vegas shows/sights/sounds.

Currently we have tickets to see a magician tomorrow (unfortunately Penn and Teller are out of town this weekend so we went with Shin Lim) and tickets to see a Harry Potter parody/comedy show on Saturday.

Both shows are in the evening so Friday and Sunday morning + afternoon are currently free and we have nothing planned for Sunday yet.

We're pretty much just going to be winging it with our spare time so I'm open to suggestions. We probably won't be gambling because we like having money and my wife is particularly sensitive to cigarette smoke. We'll pay to see another show if there is something that is absolutely a must-see while we're here, but we'd like to maximize value with our free time.

I really liked it! My wife and I saw it opening day, but we signed up for one of this monthly unlimited movie passes so we see pretty much everything that doesn't look awful. This was our favorite tar we had seen for awhile though. It was definitely an interesting choice for them to have given us, the audience, so much information so early on. I think as a result we were able to see most of the turns before they happened, but it didn't make the movie any less enjoyable.

got matched into a game with collins earlier. Which is surprising because I only have 6k mmr and he's around 10k.

He kind of upset me though because I told him gg after and he remarked how odd that people he's facing always seem to be in his stream. Like yeah I checked when I recognized his user name to see if it was actually him, but I didn't watch his stream during the game (which I couldn't anyways because I'm playing via mobile) and there's no way I could have anticipated the matchmaking with our 3k MMR difference. Hell I watched a ton of his streams before he became popular as that #1 ranked bg player -_-

I finished top 4 though and my comp nearly defeated his so I'll see it as a positive.

I'm on board with free college period but that seems like a reasonable stepping stone.

Because if you pay into a program you should have access to it. Because means testing would cost money too and require hoops to prove you aren't a certain status of rich. It would slow down the process, make it more tedious, and also I would imagine cause resentment. It really is like our public schooling now, just extended through college. That makes sense.

Seriously this. It creates incentives to under report income which requires extra layers of red tape and extra costs to make sure people are eligible.

It's why UBI is a better way to establish a base line standard of living than our existing social programs. People won't go out of their way to not work or disguise their income for the purpose of qualifying if they automatically qualify.

I lost an uncle a week ago. He had been battling brain cancer for a while and it got really bad near the end so I understand the relief. It's not happiness that he died, just that the struggle is over.

That 1 pound every two days, not 2 pounds every one day.

And the only sorcery has been having the will to not cheat. Starting Thanksgiving though I'm going to switch to eating carbs again. I'm still going to track what I eat and give myself a calorie limit and I'll evaluate how things are going again in January.

As I mentioned in a recent topic I'm down a ton of weight thanks to keto and exercise. I started at 320 and am down to 248 (72 lbs) in 140 days so far.

My exercise has mostly consisted of Beatsaber in VR and regular walking for Pokemon Go and Wizards Unite. I'd be willing to check this game out to at some point but I dunno about right now.

The average American does not understand the health insurance system. People are morons who answer polls based upon how the wording of the poll makes them feel and not based upon robust knowledge of the facts.

But suppose for the moment that m4a is slightly worse at launch than the average current health insurance plan. The solution wouldn't be to scrap m4a outright, but to incrementally improve the implementation. The very first iteration of something is never going to be as polished at it's successors that have built upon it's framework.

We have seen what our current health insurance system has to offer and it's become a terrible thing that puts outrageous profit margins ahead of well being. I would gladly take a temporary step backwards to transition to a better system if that's what it takes to get it started.

That said, it feels like turn timers are wildly inconsistent. They gradually get longer, but it's still not uncommon to get a timer of only ~30 seconds late in the match. I kinda wish there was a "skip combat" button so you could see the results of you getting smacked for 17, and go right to the tavern phase again.

Yes this! It can be useful to watch the combat to see what's working and what isn't, but sometimes I would prefer the extra time.
